a 40+ points dude with no NWI is usually seen as expensive in any other faction, even with all the things intruders have. They are not "easily affordable". Their only advantage in front of other similar dudes is the marker state... around 10 points for getting into marker state is a lot. I agree with the other options in vainilla, they bring nothin. Jaguars/zeroes will eclipse them for the same roles. I think solo perseus works better than with any fireteam at the moment. With raoul, you are wasting both raoul's and perseus biggest potential in an expensive and not so mobile haris. With securitates you have a backline cheap core, but if the core is doing their job, you get a wasted opportunity for perseus, and at 13 points-dude, with no cheaper cheerleaders (only cheaper a single puppetmaster), is hard to get (and a bit of absurd) an extra securitate for moving him later.
You wouldnt want to throw away him solo too; Perseus-led Securitate team is excellent for turn 2-3 cleanup after most of ARO presence is gone and you can go do cards or push buttons with the specialists in fireteam. He is more likely to survive for crucial smoke-covered objectives if he stays with the team bonuses. Hecklers can deal with "roofsweeps" just as effective. Armihaul is right on Intruder, he is costly - Cheerkiller allows for way easier access to msv2 in lists that have Kriza as the main beatstick. More versatility in options is great.
I'm saying the Superjump guy can't link and I don't agree the Linkable version is strictly better and optimal. If the list wants an unhackable roof sweeper with CC capability he is the guy, especially if I want his excellent kit of VIS Mods, Smoke for objective runs, non SWC BS punch and end of turn Prone on the roof scoring points. Compared to that the linked version is fairly inactive and works completely different. I've ran my fair share of BS12 MSV2 Marksman Rifles in JSA. In a core Link they're okay when dealing with MODs, the Rangebands are a real problem, the lack of damage is a real problem and overall I always include a Keisotsu HMG, who despite having only BS10 projects more stopping power than the Kempetai. Overall the most use I get out of the Kemp is mopping up things that wander close or into my DZ, where his Rangebands are better than a HMG and where he can oppose a Skirmisher or Warband on ARO around a corner without exposing himself to long range threats. Point for performance an Intruder is a vastly better package than the Cheerkiller for what you want and get out of him in a Vanilla Faction with Morlocks and Jaguars. The 15 slot limit makes sure you have no issues running both an Intruder and a KB in the same list if you want a MSV2. MSV2s aren't the end all be all, MO has a a Spitfire MSV2 Order Sergeant, MSV2 Konstantinos and the Black Friar to pick from and all of them hardly see a table because they end up competing for a job that a linked BS14 SWC gun (beating MODs and CC (countering Smoke) can do better. BS12 B3 DAM13 is severly underwhelming to spend Orders on from your DZ. I understand the need to find a use for a new and shiny troop. If I wanted to go look for it that would be certainly in a Link which rules out Vanilla.
I have to agree that solo Perseus is best Perseus for me. He just does a ton of work for me when he has the freedom to move around and super jump
From Bostria on Mayacast. The box of Cheerkiller will be 3 Cheerkillers and a Grenzer with Missile launcher.
Although I am not a big fan of wildcards, making Grenzers Wildcard would finally emphasize their central role in TJC which they did not fill until now because their mediocre profile and exaggerated costs. The featured changes to MSV-1, MI costs and movement could make them the big winners of the edition change. Giving them Wildcard would be the icing on the cake.
Hey I am just glad to get the ML Grenzer. Did they say anything on when the Cheerkillers will be out? I’m pretty excited for them, anything to keep TJC being the best-looking dude and dudettes.
Intruders are in a weird place where they rapidly switch between feeling too squishy and worthless and dominating. My main opponent gets a ton of trouble from them but I don't think he would play them. I still like them but a lot of N4 changes are messing with them so we'll see how they end up.
Wildcard is not my favourite rule but there's no way back now. Seeing the lastest sectorials having planty of wildcards and very flexible link teams there is no reason for Tunguska not to have its link teams updated. Hassasin has 5 wildcards two being full units, Asawira a 14BS unit. Tunguska not having wildcards will just lag behind.
I find that running both is very taxing even in 15 slots format No native smoke access might be the reason OS spitfire is good, I've seen him fielded against me, not a bad choice at all kempei pays swc tax on top of Lt swc tax it is a yikes
Nothing unexpected here. CB continuing with their strange ways to deliver miniatures to nomads (i would like to see them doing mixed boxes like this in other factions, some people would have claimed so much CB will do a special blister release for them, as happened once with some scabbards). I have the feeling CB is using nomads for experimenting. As with other miniatures, if I like them, I will buy them, and I will not buy them if they look ugly to me (as Raoul or Mary). The grenzer ML is not a priority to me neither (even if I love their dessign), I would like another profile (spitfire or shotgun) because we allready have another long range ARO grenzer which makes it easier to use as proxy. Also, this seems strange to me, CB says that they want to reduce SKUs, but will end with 2-3 extra blisters for extra miniatures from different units (securitate blister, and maybe 1-2 grenzer blister to fill ava), instead of a single box of grenzers and 4 dudes in each box. Also, in the box they could put one less dude, they could put a tinbot and leave the last one for blister, but we got full box and no tinbot for it (and will not come in blister because there are allready as many miniatures as max ava). I really hope this is just a sliver of what we are going to get, and there will be nice fireteam options, and finally, grenzers will be the "glue" B said
JSA had a mixed box before Nomads (Kempeitai in Keisotsu box), and since then, ALEPH (Deva in Dakini box) and Shasvastii (Spec-Ops in Nox box).
kempeitai, ava 3 and cannot link between them, they are dessigned to link directly with keisotsus. deva are in similar spot than grenzers. But they were in blisters time ago, a box with remotes and so. Same for dakinis (which, the old models, got one less model than the new securitates have, and 4 more than the old ones, while they have the same amount of new models). the nox issue is also a bit different. It could be great if we got a securitate spec ops inside the secs box, because we have only 1 model of spec ops, and to me it is the ugliest from them all. It is not another trooper miniature, but a nox spec op. I think it would be great having the spec ops inside the weapons box, it can proxy any missing profile. So, while it might look similar, it is not the same problem, and this will be the second time happening to nomads.
While I wouldn't go as far as to say that CB is experimenting with Split Boxes with Nomads, I find it rather curious that they make it so hard to get the Grenzer Sculpts. Not a single Grenzer can be otained on it's own. What have we got? Grenzer with MSR in Icestorm Grenzer with Combi Rifle in Securitate Box and Grenzer with ML in Cheerkiller Box So if you just want some Grenzer sculpts, which are really great, you have to buy around 10 additional Models. And while I'll get the Cheerkiller Box if they look good (can Javier sculpt them please?) and so can obtain the Grenzer with ML, the Grenzer with Combi Rifle is somewhat locked behind a Box I'll probably never get. While I like the female Securitate in the Securitate Box, I don't need the other two dudes. I don't like LI Links and I don't have enough time to paint every model available and therefore limited myself to painting "cool" models. For the Order Monkeys I only paint the Ladies and proxy them around the sectorials if I need more than one or two. So in the end, I am skipping the Grenzer with Combi because I don't need 3 additional Securitate. I already have three from the Tunguska Starter (of which only the cool female one is painted).
I'd rather have a full Grenzer box and that's what I hopped it would come to pass but obviously it's not gonna happen. On the bright side that means Securitate, Grenzers and CheerKillers will probably make mix fire teams or one of them will be a wildcard. CKs would make a great wildcard.
4 Cheerkillers might look too many(this also depends on how they form Fireteams), so they might have decided to slip in another mediocrity in the box... Well, I'm still happy that I'll get plenty of Cheers and ML Grenzer at last. Hope they don't release a surprise Grenzer box set later.
I was kinda expecting/wished for a box with the following profiles: Grenzer ML Grenzer Spitfire Grenzer Boarding Shotgun Securitate MSR and that would fully complete two units.
