Baseline Magisters are 9 points more expensive than Order Sergeants. If you like running OS be my guest, point stands - Magisters are very nice bang for the buck.
Magisters formed the core of my every MO list. They were the glue that held the sectorial together and extremely characterful. I hope they arent being done away with for some dumb reason. It would make far more sense to nuke teutons and keep magisters than to try to fix teutons by killing magisters
That makes a 36 points difference between 4 OS and 4 magisters. That is MANY. And for a pure ARO Fireteam, i dont need magisters.
I always had the most fun with a triplet of unlinked Magisters coordinating with Joan. I'll miss that if it's gone. But I am less dismayed by most of the changes than many seem to be. Ultimately I have hope for MO, again. That "again" is pretty key here 'though.
I'd like to see MO be focused on the knights and not become an OS centric sectorial. If i wanted mediocre LI id definitely be looking elsewhere
4 OS vs 4 Magisters? 52 vs 88 before further Upgrades and SWC weapons. You mean double the W, +2ARM, +3BTS, Courage, Doge on 17s, useable CC and LSG+Panzerfaust for very nice Rangeband coverage aren't worth considering as 60% more expensive upgrade from the very mediocre OS chassis? They're definitely not there for the same thing, but about the only reason you're running OS Links is to add a FK/KOJ ML and point efficiency goes out of the window. If I wasn't linking something else into the OS, they are 30% more expensive than Regulars/Fusiliers. I'd switch Sectorials any day if I was looking for an effective LI Link to build my list around.
Yeah, keep telling me that thing; im not gonna change oppinion. i dont like magisters and im not gonna use them. I think this hate comes from N2, when they only carried panzerfaust and once spent, only CC remain.
Agreed, though 1) OS might get reworked and be more useful , and 2) even now there's always at least some use for light infantry with some unique tools. Auxbots, for example.
While I hate the cheesing of the fireteam rules, I felt there was serious potential to have Pages forming fireteam: Duo with Knights, who could fill specialist roles to the Knights gunfighter. There could have been a variety of loadouts, including sensor, bio visor, MSV etc. with limited or no ranged weaponry, making the Knight responsible for dealing with threats.
This is the point y'all are missing. Sometimes, to save a tree the best option is to cut all the limbs and watch it grow again. I am happy to see drastic changes, they give me hope.
So I don't want to get too excited, but are we expecting a full rework of MO on the release date of N4? Or at least some time after that? I've been reading some of your comments on reworked Sepulchre Knight, FK being replaced by KoJ, new Teutons and Magisters, probaly reworked profiles in all other knights and Montesas finally finding their place in this world (????). Is this all just pure expeculation or can we expect if not a full rework at least some major updates to make this and other sectorials feel relevant? The hype is starting to hit me but I'd hate to be disappointed on September 25th.
Sepulchre Knight becoming S5 is from an interview with Bostria. FK becoming KoJ is canon from the Kaldstrøm box booklet. Magister/Teuton merge or revamp is supposition mostly spurred by the Magister box going out of production.
And the fact that Paradiso has either fallen entirely, or all but fallen, with the advance of the timeline. After all, the Combined Army have pushed past. So it seems unlikely that the Teuton monastery on Paradiso, which was already in a very tenuous position, has not fallen.
Indeed, it also featured Konstantinos and Dart fighting side by side for much of the campaign (which is why she's in MO).
Locked into S5, Remote Presence "mini TAG" HI is about the only thing that would make some sense. The outcry from YJ players will be on "a toddler getting teeth" level, but that's their default setting for anything they think is their "privilege". In reality Rem Pres HI is a fairly rare troop type (Su Jian, Karakuri and Hollowmen), not unique to anyone in particular with room to grow. Mostly wondering what happens to their old kit, which wasn't well min maxed in N3 but could have been rather nice with N4 price cuts. Not talking about the CoC here, but both Forward Deployment LGL and Holo2 Spitfire. He took over for both the old KothS and the old Montesa.
I'd actually prefer KotHS to not be Remote Presence, allowing YJ to keep that edge. Not that I'll complain if it turns out to get it. Regarding its role - it very much depends on what all the other changes will bring. But with such a change in chassis I imagine some kind of a fire support role, especially since good sources of AP will be very valuable in N4. The standard - and by now lazy - route would be to give it AP HMG or Feuerbach, but as much as I like the latter, I'd prefer to see something new. Let's say an anti-armor unit, but optimized for CQB, not long range. Something you'd want to close in with enemy TAG or HI link. Maybe a source of MO Smoke/Eclipse?
