Maghriba is fantastic. From where I'm standing, it's a cheap Guijia that you can customise. Okay, it's not fantastic, but it is at the price point at which I seriously consider a Guijia-Maghriba-Squalos-Raicho performance TAG in N3 to be a serious contender to a recurring theme of my tournament lists. And, as I wrote earlier, I rate the Blue Wolf to be ever so slightly better than a GMSR TAG that costs essentially the same as the Blue Wolf. That comparison is completely flipped if we're considering the Dispenser or HGL profiles on the GMSR, though. That out of the way, yes the Iguana and Anaconda are nothing to write home about. During Mercenary Extra tournaments I've found myself wanting Scarface in one list and Cordelia in another, so I agree it's a mixed bag even though the price-performance is nothing to sneeze at, as Scarface is easily on par with a Mowang who costs essentially the same. I've had Geckos used effectively against me, but mainly because of Show of Force (you know the ITS where you need to occupy the central location with a TAG). At least for S5 vs S6 vs S7, I find that there's a trade-off internally and that there's not any real disadvantage between them that doesn't also make for an advantage. S8 is slightly worse, but only marginally so, and where the terrain makes you not wanting to deploy a Maggy, I find you'd typically not want a GMSR at all. Unless you can make effective use of the launcher load outs, of course, because if there's one thing to really screw up a comparison, it's asymmetric engagement weapons and abilities.
The Blue Wolf does seem to be a potent weapon against other TAGs, with high chances to defeat armour, rare-for-TAGs Spitfire range to threaten in the active turn and a method of inflicting IMM_A at long range, which TAGs are rubbish at escaping while under fire. From my evaluation, its value is going to depend on how many other TAGs are serious contenders in N4, and how easy it is to stop them with infantry weapons.
At the moment (N3) the BW trades long range AP fire vs. midrange AP fire with higher burst. The fact that it is in the same price range with his big brother, makes him too expensive for me. It should be smaller, faster and cheaper with the same gun. That would give it role of a TAG hunter.
So, we now know the TAGstravaganza will be in November, so that opens up the October releases. O-12/CA Dire Foes: Beauty vs the Beast sounds like a good option for obligatory Code One release, and we've seen the the renders. Can we hope for Cheerkillers? Or is it too early? Betrayal miniatures box?
That's a 2021 release according to the White Noise podcast Bostria interview. On the other hand, he did also hint it would be part of the new Operation box, which would mean Ariadna in Code One!
Or they could just release it as an Action Pack and have the same effect. Really getting fed up with "Operation" boxes at this point.
I know a lot of us were expecting this but it is nice to at least have some soft confirmation. Was this the 'Kosmoflot is purposefully colored to contrast with Corregidor' comment I've seen referenced elsewhere?
It is bizarre how they stick to their most consistently successful format. Quite bizarre indeed. Yes, he was clearly trying to be coy and not give "official" confirmation but did say that both NuCorregidor and Kosmoflot were 2021 releases (for the models specifically) and then talked about contrasting colour schemes in an Operation box.
It's disingenuous, IMO, to say it's "their most consistently successful format" when they full on lock product away in them. As far as I'm aware, the only way to have gotten the TAK and OSS starters was in Coldfront. Those should have gotten Action Packs for Code One before Shasvastii or O-12. It's like GW and these battle boxes of late. A brand new character model or unit is locked in there for each faction(not releasing for something like 4-5 months)and the box is a discounted way to get a bunch of stuff...oh look it's a success! I'm always wary of anyone saying something is a "success" for CB. We have no publicly available information relating to their production levels or anything of that nature. We just know when stuff launches, when it's available, and when it goes away. We don't know how much or where certain stuff is produced(they're not producing the cardstock stuff in house, I'm almost positive of that--if it's too expensive/specialized for GW or PP, I can't imagine CB is doing it) Steel Phalanx and Corregidor would have been contrasting color schemes too. But that would have required them to redo Steel Phalanx rather than move on to the new shiny. And that, IMO, is what should always be brought up with regards to this. Because red+black contrasts just as well with cream/beige/bone/whatever you want to call the SP suits and purple.
There is very little overlap in color schemes anyway, really. Nomads/ Combined Army PanO/ O12 is about it, off hand? PanO Blue, Yu Jing Yellow/Orange, ALEPH white/purple, Nomads red/black, O12 Blue/gold, CA black/red, Haqq is brown? Ariadna green? Anyway, have they announced anything about the Objective Room/ Tower scenery?
There was a CG mockup of the expansion kit shown, but no release date yet. Heck, the only release dates at know at the moment are N4/Starmada this month and TAGs in November, in hoping they preview the October/December releases in the next studio update on the 12th.
Yeah, maybe they just forgot about it (since they're probably made elsewhere anyway, Covid may have delayed things), but I think it is the last thing from the Adepticon video that hasn't come out yet. They just said 2020 in the video, but nothing new since then. I assume Dire Foes Beta should be somewhere in here too, probably before next March's Operation so they can do a Dire Foes for whichever is in that.
Today's Defiance update said that the printed parts aren't shipping from China to CB until the end of September due to COVID delays, I wonder if the Kaldstrøm scenery expansion was hit by the same problem.
Me and my boyfriend buy all of them since red veil, it's really well priced and you get some attractive terrain (especially the new thick stuff) and intro rules. Overall it's a really good package for the price. Don't forget you can go halfsies or sell off the parts that don't interest you. Works out as cheap as an action pack then, and saves you having to complain about it and make us all cringe
It's not always easy to sell the other part of the box. Maybe that was a local thing but with recent operation Kaldstrom everyone jumped on the YJ bandwagon. There were many offers to sell PanO half but hardly any buyers. I also could not find someone to share a box with me. In the end I got minis from Operation and Beyond box from ShaeKonnit. Personally I'd prefer the Beyond boxes to be separated and maybe upgraded to 4 miniatures per faction. That would make things easier for customers. For the same reason I much prefer Army Packs to Operation boxes.
Part of the issue is getting into it early. If you're one of the first to get the box (since lots of folks don't preorder), it's easier to Ebay things. I had an Icestorm already, so sold my 3 Fusiliers but kept the rest of PanO, and sold YJ. Now, as you say maybe YJ was easier to sell so I'm not saying it's an absolute or anything. But, the 3 Kaldstrom Fusiliers got bid up to a pretty good amount. After selling the rest of the stuff, I had the book, terrain/tokens and 4 PanO special guys for pretty cheap. It may be more trouble than it's worth, sure, but that's why folks like ShaeKonnit have a business, eh? :)
