I mean, even if Ariadna has very different playstyles sectorial by sectorial so do a lot of factions. I'd even dare to say that you can boil Ariadna, of any flavor, down to camo markers and low-tech heavy infantry of various types. At least, in a Code One sense that is. If you look, too, every faction is basically just one flavor of its parent faction in Code One. Combined Army is just Shas, PanO and Yu Jing are the Kaldstrom factions, so it's no more a stretch to focus C1 Ariadna on (likely) Kosmos since they'll be the new shiny toys.
PanO in CodeOne is actually a really weird Chimera of winterFor , Neoterra (even though they got shelved) with a Varuna TAG(+CrocMen) thrown in. I personally would have preferred if they actually stick to one sectorial for CodeOne. That would have made the entry barrier lower to try out the full N4 with fireteams.
Having Code One really pack in the essentials in its boxes will help a bunch for Vanilla players, though. You're typically picking a selection of best-in class profiles out of units designed to be used in a Fireteam soup, and it gets expensive to buy an entire SWC box or Sectorial starter because it has a few key models buried in it.
That's my experience in vanilla. Buying sectorial starters to get a single model for vanilla. In a sectorial i can actually use that SWC box. I bought like all sectorial starters for haqq even though i only play vanilla. Was the same for PanO-Vanilla when i started out.
From the White Noise podcast Bostria interview it sounds like Corregidor vs Kosmoflot is pretty much confirmed for the 2021 battle pack. It does explain why Kosmoflot's main colour seems to be dark blue.
Not directly but I would imagine Adepticon 2021. That would be about when the release schedule for the current C1 factions is wrapping up and fit with their "One battle pack per year" plan that was touted when Kaldstrøm/C1 launched. Edit: After the TAGs in November we're just waiting on the two booster packs and hero blister per faction for Code One, plus the Casanova vs Sargosh Dire Foes.
the releases are 99% of the time adepticon and gencon, it has been this way for 5 years now at least an operation box comes out consistently every year since they started unless I'm mistaken, and they pretty much only ever release things to line up with these two big cons. in last 2 or 3 years definitely. why do people always beg for dates. Google when adepticon 2021 is I guess apologies for my snippy tone, nothing personal i imagine now that the operation box for 2022 will be gabqar khanate haqq vs aleph of some kind, likely reworked/renamed phalanx (because rip paradiso) (I speculate this will be desert attire themed, myrmidons in ponchos? maybe new fremen-styled haqq perhaps? pending release of villeneuve's dune in cinemas for maximum 'corvus belli homage', of course)
Not quite one per battle pack per year, they were going every other year until Wildfire & Kaldstrøm (which both make sense in hindsight) Gen Con releases: 2014: Icestorm 2015: USARF Army Pack 2016: Red Veil 2017: Beyond Icestorm and Red Veil 2018: Coldfront 2019: Wildfire 2020: N4 & Starmada Adepticon: 2018: JSA 2019: Spiral Corps 2020: Kaldstrøm
Btw, what would be the lore excuse for axing SP? I image the failure to defend Paradiso(given that we don't know the condition of this front atm, 4/5 years after 3rd offensive, only that Shas are at large in the sphere) and the "necessity to reform" might do....
Seeing as CA has penetrated deep into the human sphere and as far as concilium in the time jump, it wouldn't surprise me if they get completely massacred during what would be the 4th offensive and subsequent fall of paradiso.
I'm curious though. If things are really that dire, why paradiso is still not a nuclear/chemical/biological wasteland?
The number one thing I can think of is in relation to the silliness of troop availability. Kazaks were the only AVA Total 'cheerleader' unit in vanilla, everything else ignored the normal rule of thumb that existed for AVA swaps between Sectorial and AVA with the Caledonian and Metro choices being locked at 2 in Vanilla. Really, I figured it's because they're lazy and with the Caledonians supposedly being taken out of rotation they figured they could get away with it. It better not be a battlebox for Corregidor and stupid Sphess Russians. Bad enough they fucked over Nomads with that half-assed, rushed to market starter in the first place.
Because they keep pushing the timeline back and forth when redoing editions. Shame they don't just get brave and do the damn Tohaa v Ariadna box that they should have done back at N3's launch, showcasing Paradiso.
Just to address this (since it sounds like its happening anyway), and please keep in mind this is a *gross generalisation*, its mostly down to how all of their weapons and equipment have unique different names from the stuff other armies have, with small nuanced differences, meaning its a bunch of extra rules that exist mostly for flavour, and in the minds of some, just to make them stand out and be different.
Sepsitorized en masse by aliens. Or maybe low view ratings, so they had to be cancelled. Yes, references to two different backgrounds.
Wooooooow. Is not like if you can fix the AVA at any moment... And probably the line kazak will not be the basic troop for C1 Ariadna What? The only exclusively Ariadnan gun i can remember now is the Molotok... and is just an AP Red Fury. Edit: Ohh, and the Ojotnik. That is pretty unique, yes.
