Ah, am I under the wrong impression then that Reset is functionally similar to dodge in that a single Reset ARO works against all hacking attacks? At least, under what we know in N3 as it might change?

But again, while you lose nothing on the use of Oblivion (which does make it nastier), does this really mean you're going to see lots of basic hacking devices on the field, surrendering valuable SWC for units which rarely come equipped with better offensive weapons? Because unless Killer Hacking Devices see a substantial change, it seems like the opportunity cost of going all-in on coordinated hacking is just as hit or miss as it is now since it'll either work really really well or not at all so I'm not quite so sure it's quite so doom and gloom as making all heavy LTs and leadership LTs useless.

I already see armies that bring 2-3 HDs on a regular basis, especially if the AHDs are getting rolled into regular HDs which appears to be the case. My Aleph opponents frequently use the Mk1 hacker proxy plus the AHD proxy.

    So yes, more than likely.

    Huh?
Reset will never harm the attacker, so if you use Coordinated Order on a hacker, you'll be forcing them to pick between a bad ARO or taking several hacks to the face. Reset is still an "electronic dodge"

I misunderstood what the reference to normal rolls was, my bad.

We'll see, then. Obviously local metas will see more or less mileage out of these changes - in the areas I've played in, hacking took a backseat due to a plethora of Haqq/Ariadna players as well as lots of KHDs so I may be speaking from a totally different play experience than you. This doesn't read as too bad, but I might try this out with some Nomads or ALEPH and see what happens.

Reset hasn’t changed noticeably, as can be seen in CodeOne.

The number of standard Hackers that get taken in an N3 list doesn’t mean much for how many are likely to be seen in N4 lists. The way the different HD types are divided up is generally going to mean you want variety rather than taking multiples of one type.

Also, defences against Hacking in N4 dont map 1:1 to N3.

It seems nothing changed much and the main problems weren't addressed? I hope at least linkteams no longer negate Frenzy/Impetuous, but I'm not holding my breath after that "now you can only play 15 guys, lol we fixed warband spam"

Any chance you could elaborate on that slightly? Are we gaining new defensive programs? Are tinbots going?

Would be interesting to see TinBots as an Army entry you buy to attach to hackable models the way we have G: Servants.

While I am wondering, why I am in camp "negative" lately, I have to agree. Especially regarding Fireteams.

I am wondering, why do they need another year to evaluate how fireteams work right now? The fireteam rules weren't changed during the last two years. Why are these 2 years not enough? I don't get it.

IMO fireteams are one of the, (if not the) main points and problems in the late N3 meta and this is not adressed with N4?

    Spitfire_TheCat no like. Bad Medicine.

Yeah, rambo fireteams or turret fireteams. Everyone screams at how Tohaa triads were "OP", but 5-man fireteams that are stuffed with cheerleaders and stack mods sky high enough that there's no need for non-interaction of Eclipse - and which will be able to fire through smoke effectively even with MSV1. I have a really bad feeling about this.

"Just play Tactical Window by default for the whole of N4, I dunno" is such a lazy bandaid I don't even know where to start. At this point I'm starting to wonder what the hell are the actual differences in N4 that weren't copypasted over from C1.

This looks like N3.5 at best.

Triads were regarded as op for other reasons, something to do with being functionally two wounds and able to shrug a hit come to mind.

They mentioned in the stream that not all Engineers will have this. It's an upgrade that will be listed per profile.

They are treating fireteams just like profiles. Only electronic and evolving over time.

Thinking a bit more about the fireteam rules being electronic/flexible for the first couple years of N4, I think it's related to the Tohaa and Steel Phalanx being taken out of production.
Those are the two armies that had weird Fireteam rules (triad and enomotarchos), and Bostria said that the rules are being treated as flexible because they want to make sure they don't have to be changed for some future releases.

Will they be part of the first wave of updates though. Id be happily surprised if we get all in production factions dropped at the same time.

Hey everyone, I see "dodge and change facing (+other skills) all rolled together into dodge" or words to that effect. Was there any indication whether dodges that replace change facings include movement?

We could end up with situations such as a guy walking past another model, who then dodges into a position to ARO next turn. Or a guy moving near a close combat, so models there dodge out of the fight.

Not necessarily opposed to that just wondering. Played a game with that as the rules today and it wildly changes the game, particularly in a way that dumps on many types of rambo strategies.
