The new wildcat *concepts* (not renders, sorry) rock.
@kanluwen is notable by his silence but in the seminar video @Bostria announced resculpts for wildcats (and morans) for 2021.
Just putting this thread up so @kanluwen can admit that CB does things right. Or that he was wrong to complain incessantly. Or, most likely, to take credit for making CB change their minds because of his whinging.

EDIT: I misremembered seeing the render, musta been something else.

No renders as yet, I believe, only the dossier art, but showing them as bigger, beefier, nastier.

*A* render. Wildcat with HRL. Will go looking for a timestamp.
*Which I didn't find. I must have conflated a HB render with the wildcats somehow*

This seems in somewhat poor taste to me.

I don't agree with much of what Kan says, or how he says much of it, but this is not cool either.

    Too early for August?
I literally posted, specifically, to comment on it on Friday as soon as I saw them.

Do you think they really deserve some kind of huge kudos for this though?
I posted this picture in 2015:
We're now looking at 2021 for finally getting a resculpt for something that shouldn't have been released in the first place, given the supposed overlap with Icestorm being under development.

Because remember, that's been the crux of why I felt so slighted by it. The Corregidor box and the resculpts/fresh sculpts that accompanied it(Hellcat with HMG, Hellcat with Boarding Shotgun, Hellcat Hacker, Intruder with MSR, Wildcat Spitfire and Wildcat HRL) were supposed to be the start of a cohesive range...and it lasted for maybe a year or two? Wildcats were in the box specifically so Alguaciles could be put into a vanilla Nomad set, which was in Icestorm.

There's no renders yet, but I'm hopeful that the models will be good.
Fari did a roundup where you can see the art and dossier, it's right above my comment I think.

It's the usual suspects and they'll continually say that I'm the problem with the community, yadda yadda yadda.

You just have to watch the 'likes' on the comments. It's rather telling.

Honestly Kan, there's a reason you spent a lot of time on my ignore list.

But that still doesn't justify equally shitty posts in return.

In CBs defense using alquaciles in CJC was more practical especially if you own Lupe so there wasn't much need to redo the models of the wildcats in N3.

It is what it is, colbrook. At this point, Infinity's nothing but a distant interest for me. It comes in waves and I frankly was ready to stop paying attention until the Corregidor announcement.

Sure, but that doesn't mean they had to release models that they knew would be out of wack.

My contention is and always has been that if they knew far enough in advance they wanted Alguaciles in the Nomad starter and Wildcats in the Corregidor one? They shouldn't have released the box or the models accompanying it. It's not like the players knew they were coming.

Well, also in their defense, it just wasn't a high enough priority on the list of things they wanted to get done.

Funny how it was a high enough priority to release the box in the first place, while working on Icestorm.

true and if I remember things right the wildcats were released just before operation icestorm when CB change the way they sculpt models to 3d sculpting from traditional, anyways I'm sure base on the art the models will look awesome when they come out sometimes next year or for Xmas if the nomad nation starts eating lucky charms for every meal.

Roughly a year or two gap between them, but it was actively planned to function this way. Wildcats were literally chosen as the 'link trooper' for the box so Alguaciles could be used elsewhere.

It's also rather telling that the Alguacile Hacker is the only model from the boxed set to get a resculpt...which was used in promo shots of the Alguaciles later.

I actually agree that tiny Corregidor starter models are disappointing, as you will see if you look at the likes on that image post. I'm glad I held on to my MB and Algs when I moved on the teeny tinies.

As I said back then, traditionally sculpted models are done months in advance and the release of that box was planned and done way ahead of the decision to transition to digital sculpting, something modern, novel and mostly untested at the time, scraping the investment and the already announced release slot or not transitioning to something far better were not an option, some models would be the victims of it and CJC was one of them.

Now I see the argument of this thread to be a "friendly jab" and to be in "poor taste" either way, please lets try to keep the forum a friendly place especially with the people we disagree with.

well, that was just another of those "nomads sell well, we don't need to do better or do a big effort" moments for CB. We got a halfway review for CJC then, also a halfway review for BJC. Now we will get the other halves with years of time in between. Had hapened other times, as when TJC lore was released 2 books after their box with almost no marketing (it was not needed, even CB were surprised by the selling numbers, or so they said).

the alguacile hacker got a resculpt because there are non-nomad sectorials that can field it but not other troopers from the box, so they claimed CB about it, and CB accepted.

Sometimes that is sunk costs falacy. Sometimes things are better scrapped, and the lesson learned. That includes an "always monitor the process" approach, to correct issues as soon as possible, thus less things to scrap. With old putty modelling, verify wire dollies, then again verify basic volumes.

Size is all over the place, even with 3D. It seems operators have unit issues. Some days I wonder if the printer one was told "this is a 35 mm miniature" and does not understand how useless that is, instead of getting files more like if they were for machine parts, "this file is X*Y*Z mm, stop playing with sizes". Base mesh for Limited Edition CSU and DireFoes 4 HVT is the same, and clearly they do not match size wise:
Or this other case, add strap, mirror (lazier than a full repose) and rescale:
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But if (nomad or whatever) miniatures have some less cases of size absurdities, they are welcome. Better late than never.
