How do y'all think Starmada will effect vanilla O 12? I am personally excited to use the Lawkeepers in O 12 as a button pusher and the addition of more riotstoppers. I am also hoping that Nyoka or Raptors are some sort of camo. So what are y'all's thoughts on the units?
Crushers seem fairly demolishing, Mimetism and nearly 2 Wounds is very scary, only held back by the fact they've only got a BSG on their AD profile. Putting one of the FD versions into Suppfire is going to be a solid roadblock. Part of me doesn't want to see camo, with a lot of really optimised profiles already the lack of cheap marker state troopers give an interesting weakness to play around.
We will have to see how total immunity will work in N4 to adequately discuss the Bronze. But right now, 0-12 Heavy looks diverse with different roles for each.
I know how I want it to work which is basically all ammo effects are normal and at least in code one ammo effect and what save you had to take where two different areas on the gun. So braker which would be ammo AP and save BTS would be ammo normal save BTS. Though it may not be like that. I would agree that each heavy infantry is a different roll or roll variation, and I like that. I am happy that the Bronze is not just another HMG guy and is instead a more mid field assault and cqc fighter. I like the blue coats but not sure how much I would use them outside of the secitorial, the adhesive launcher one is a great troll. I am so so on the bike, I have used bikes before in aleph and ariadna and they either do well or are a waist of points, I am not sure how this one will be but with basically a heavy shotgun or a shock spitfire I will take him to go out and kill.
I disagree personally, I think that the thirteen point double Adhesive launcher would be a great alpha strike deterent and cheap order filler. Them paired with the varangian guaards would deter most threats I think. They can also be used to protect a high value unit that is vulnerable to impersonaters (Gamma, Omega, Epsilon). The other profiles, however, are probably garbage outside of Starmada. I am concerned about Shona having a spot in vanilla, between Kendrat, Casanova, Hippy, and Liang Kai I don't think there is anything she does better or a skill which is special. Casanova, however, is gold. A forward deploying, ODD specialist that can hold his own in CC and in a gunfight is awesome. The only thing saving poor Hippy is the fact she has eclipse gernades, otherwise Casanova is better.
having the panzerfaust gives them a pretty nice opening shot if they get behind something from a distance.
The LRL Crusher is the top pick from that unit in my opinion, especially for dealing with hunkered down links.
The Bronze Paramedic is potentially a fantastic unit for Armoury style missions where you need a specialist, with Total Immunity and a 360 visor. If you're feeling fancy, maybe the MR with Riotstopper. But that's my initial thought about them, if you need to defend a box, they're ace. Especially as they can actually put up a fight in CC as well.
If the stats of the existing units and their importance will stay the same, the Crusher will be mindblowingly strong. No need to take the Delta anymore and Cuervo will probably see a lot less action than now. The Alpha/Cho combo outshines the Bluecoat by a rather big margin and I don't see him being played in his Lt role and the glue stuff was already massively overhyped/overrated in N3, so I don't expect to see him much with the incoming changes. Unless Bikers stop sucking in general, I see no point in bringing a Judge if I want to win a game. Saladin is good enough, but I'd still prefer the Alpha, although in LI setups he'll be very solid. The Bronze looks okay, but I think that Gammas and Betas will be better once I take the cost/firepower-ratio into account.
I actually like the Lawkeeper, especially the specialist with sidebot. If you make it your datatracker (assuming datatracker stays) you can get an objective really fast and then bring it back quickly. It also brings a chainrifle which performs DZ defense. Plus you have a light riotstopper in the sidecar. I think he is just a faster but slightly less valuable Sirius Team. I agree about this but... I disagree, it is really strong. The ability to prevent your opponents big piece from reacting while you kill it is game changingly good. It is also good reactively because if you hit you can stop a attack piece and make your opponent switch gears and go engineer it. True, it is getting nerfed, and true, it just isn't as potent against warbands and cheap line infantry; but it is still a great deterrent for a lot of units. I suspect the Delta will be much cheaper than the Crushers, plus the Delta has a riotstopper option, a hacker option, and a spitfire option. Cuervo may be more exspensive, but he is also a CC monster that will chop through most everything.
Bikers are actually much better in N4, because they no longer have a base -3 PH to dodge and they can fit through gaps half their base size.
1.) In my several hundred games of Infinity and dozens of tournaments over the 3.5 years I have NEVER seen a useful bike. So no. Not being able to take cover in combination with their close range armaments and their huge silhouettes is making them awful. Unless at least one or better two of these factors change, bikes will stay terrible. 2.) After roughly three dozen games playing O-12 I can also say that glue is the least important thing in their arsenal and that I find the hype around it hilarious. The best application is the use of MadTraps to slow down warbands but outside of that there is little value if your opponent knows what he's doing (like sacrificing the omnipresent Liberto to kill your glue guys with mines and LSG shots/dodges). 3.) That's why I started with the premise that the stats and their relations stay the same for my assessment. It's pretty "funny" that you answer this with a question what might be when the values change.
The dodge penalty is the least important thing. It's the huge a** silhouette that makes them such easy targets to be shot in the back, which makes them bad.
I mean, Yojimbo is routinely an MVP as a smoker and as an assassin in my Ikari. And the dual assault pistol Desperado is similarly lethal. They don't survive the game, sure, but they almost always punch way above their weight. And when they die, it's 21/13 points. You'll be fine.
Having played several years worth of USARF, I have found the dual assault pistol desperado to be a fantastic asset. Granted there are games he dies horribly, but I can say the same about all my units. But boy, if he gets rolling, there have been games where I’ll dump and entire turns worth of orders into him.
As a general straight up brawler or fire support piece the other two probably work better, but a Bronze seems like it'll have a niche role in N4 that is mission specific which is fine as it at least allows for a little differentiation from the other HI platforms in the army. It would halfway decent for close assault and holding ground (like an armoury or other small area), as it can bully its way in there and be relatively hard to move.
Total Immunity means the Bronze can deal with threats the others will struggle with. Like Missile Launchers.
forgot about the TI, means he can also rush flashpulse defenses without caring. providing that TI doesn't change.
