Should all eagles be banned? all representation of eagles? here in spain we suffered our own version of fascism that used an eagle as a symbol, then we should feel offended with any eagle? I say not. A symbol is a symbol of something because of its shape, dessign, and mainly: use. Variations are recognised because its extended use, not because they are just variations. if the symbol is different (I cannot find any symilar to the unit one in https://www.adl.org/hate-symbols ), its shape is different, and its use is completelly unrelated, I cannot see why it should be changed. A lot of symbols that have no relationship with hate symbols can be seen as variations of variations of variations.
This looks like concern trolling to me, better stay away from this thread, it's going to be radioactive real quick.
What, in Infinity? Good god no, of course we can't. Nobody wants that. Are you nuts? I'm not going to weigh in on whether the symbol looks like a nazi symbol, but if it does, then yes obviously it should be changed. Seriously, nobody wants nazis in Infinity, if there's one single thing in the game we can all agree on that's gotta be it.
I think OP is just seeing weird things 0_0 Kuroshi Rider logo looks more like swastika but it would be a massive stretch of logic to call it one
Kuroshi Rider is also a Japanese faction model. In Asian context the swastika has a completely different meaning. The symbol is evocative not only of the swastika, but also of the model's weapon, "reaping" enemies as it goes by. The name also indicates crazy / killing / painful, so the "reaping machine" symbolics work even stronger. TBH, I didn't realize it was the symbol of the model, I never looked at JSA. But on the above grounds, eh, I could hesitantly give it a pass. Much less on an aggro Russkie wehrwolf.
Then there are also the ratmen product range of another major tabletop producer, where you can find a symbol quite close to the one used for the Volkolak. And they are on the marked for years now.
Sure, let's get rid of all the baddies from the lore since Nuada might feel sad about them. Nobody should fight, the far future has no conflicts, no hatred and everyone live happily. And if you just wanna play some toy soldiers instead of trying not to offend anyone then By the way that "7" symbol on an aggro Russkie wehrwolf might be some old slavic rune Spoiler And in old 'Slavic' context it might have some different meaning. And then your whining is dumb and pointless, since you give it a pass in one situation and can't bear to see it in another.
The triskele version used by neonazis is very different than the one used in the logo. The NN version is the triple-seven, has a much different look and a different rotation. From the ADL: https://www.adl.org/education/references/hate-symbols/triskele Making an issue over this is ridiculous and surrenders innocuous symbols to trolls and phantoms.
Put me in the camp of no Nazis in Infinity please, fewer of them in real life too. A symbol becomes a hate symbol by being used in a hateful fashion. Colour is also important in combination with the logo, the colours here are not reminiscent of existing hate symbols. I can't find any reference to this form of triskele being used in that way, so we look at context, the unit is a (presumably) Russian werewolf, but we have no background beyond that, certainly no Apartheid/Neo-Nazi links that would raise flags from what we've seen so far. If anything it's been carefully designed not to be a hate symbol. Kind of looks like an abstract of the Sicilian triskele if anything.
Wouldn't be shocked if it's similar to something being used by paramilitaries in the Crimean or elsewhere tbh. A lot of that stuff doesn't really show up in the usual places for IDing 'hate groups', as they get used as 'identifier marks' by paramilitary groups that have specific beliefs. It especially doesn't show up easily for those of us in the West looking for it. It's like that garbage about 'the circle game' and the White Power sign that's been getting flashed around. It's always suuuuuuuuuper innocent and not a big deal...until it isn't.
This is the same stupid argument that people gave about the Confederate flag on the Desperado art early on. It didn't hold up then, doesn't hold up now. CB likes to act as though they're smarter than everyone in the room--they should know these things. Infinity isn't "the grim darkness of the far future", it's something like 200ish years tops removed from where we are now.
You have a vastly higher opinion of our communities than me. Wargaming is absolutely rife with reactionary white supremacists, fascist apologists, weird neo-crusaders and so on
Knee-jerk reactions lead to cancel culture for everything else...why not an imaginary unit in a toy soldier game?
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. At least here in the US. It's a unit that isn't out yet. And you'll notice Nuada didn't call for the unit to be removed. Just for CB to look closer at the unit icon.
Definitely here in the UK, and all over Europe. And in fact on this very forum, if we want to talk about international online spaces.
Knee-jerk reactions are bad, yes. But the knee-jerk reactions are to the OP, not the actual OP. The actual OP was a request for consideration.
LMAO i take back what i said, this this thread is amazing. I don't know in what alternate reality you live to come to that beautiful conclution but i want in, it sounds like an amazing place. PS: Deus Vult is a meme, anybody taking it seriously is an idiot, on both sides of the conversation.
Someone on the old forums did try to convince me that the Crusades were totally legitimate and justified, so the idiots are totally out there.
