I think he'll be size 2. I'm still hopeful that the Gamma will be be in Starmada. I almost wonder if this guy is gonna be kinda like the Swiss or Aquila Guard. Hyper elite unit your only really suppose to take one of.
Why so hopeful for units that are already in the game to be in the sectorial instead of new units that would further diversify the vanilla faction? PsyCops have Heavy Pistols, though, and those look decidedly more like regular pistols or possibly exotic pistols. Gamma Heavy Pistol is a fairly chunky barrel, even if they don't look like revolvers as most other Heavy Pistols do. The one in the image does look like they don't have the ergonomic dual grip going on that other O-12 pistols have, and Multi Pistols are modifications on Heavy Pistols I think, so this might be dual Breaker (borrowing from the Yu Jing play book) possibly?
Or it's just shitty art. Or a SpecOps. Though I feel like mentioning that dual pistols are always a terrible idea.
Because I was really hoping the core of Starmada would be based around the red, blue, and white patched units. Gamma, Crushers, Epsilon, Beta, Omega, Delta, and Lynx. I still want new units to fill it out (sans bikers) so I'm speculating where the new things we've just seen will fit into that assumption.
"Shitty" art almost never happens with CB, Spec Ops has never happened in a starter before (and why would it when it's an impopular ITS extra?), and there's obviously no silhouette quota in their starter sets. What gave you the impression CB would start with any of that now?
Japanese Sectorial Army and Spiral Corps both say "suck it" about the SpecOps bit. Dollars to donuts it's in there now because they don't want to encourage the box as anything but splitbox fodder past one initial buy-in. "Shitty art" has happened more often than you might think. How many times has the art for boxes or dossiers shown something that never happened or was mislabeled? The art isn't 1:1 representations of the models inside. Also, there's absolutely a silhouette quota in factions now. You'll notice I never said that bit was in regards to the starters specifically--just the bikes.
Probably because we are still missing the majority of the models for the faction, and a box like this is a nice quick and easy way to get them.
Its interesting that Starmada's logo is not that of any of the bureaus we have currently been shown. I wonder what jurisdiction they fall under?
They're basically the rapid reaction force for Bureau Aegis from what little has been written so far.
We're not actually missing all that many. There's load outs missing, but a majority of the limited selection of units that O-12 has available atm have a miniature released or that are in the pipe for a general release. I just find it interesting in a particularly annoying fashion how people continually wish for units to be in new sectorials that are already released (not to mention when it's another sectorial's signature unit) and this isn't a phenomenon I see just here.
From a gameplay perspective introducing new units also stops Starmada from just being Vanilla+ Edit: I'm trying to think back to Aleph before the Steel Phallus came along, it was pretty much just Myrmidons, Achilles, and Pat. Paradiso introduced Thoras, Ekdromoi, Agema, and a whole slew of characters, this gave the new sectorial a very divergent feel keeping Vanilla as a viable option.
Well when CB's releases models for the worst and least used members of a particular unit. [which is rather often] I'm not surprised people start asking to see models of that unit that they actually want to use. Which is a strong argument for them putting multiple weapon options in any solo blisters. I started in Ariadna and I loved all the TAK units. And was constantly hoping for a sectoral so I could see new scupts and get to use those units in a larger focus. And most of them were old enough to justify new sculpts on just about everything. But I was still excited for the prospect of new units. [boarding shotgun scout was a huge mistake though, but a good example of my point above.] and some of those new units have become all time favorites. [Frotoviks] I don't want to see any of the existing units with models out already in the starter for Starmada. But I did have units that I really like and wanted to have fun with in a sectoral. And by being in the next one would maybe get an opportunity to get a boxed set in the foreseeable future. Or even maybe an alternate weapon option. [Eplsilon HMG when?]
For the most part I agree, NA2 is where you go if you want interesting army list remixes with existing models. However O12 is in a relatively unique position at the moment in that it has no sectorials so the models it does have need to go somewhere. I'm really hoping for a heavier focus on some sectroial only models/profiles as opposed to the same generic fire team templates you see everywhere, last thing vanilla needs is another bland HI with a boring B4 gun and a vis mod. There's a few sectorial's I can think of that are just Vanilla+ so it wouldn't be anything too out far out of the realm of expectation.
Less avoidable when you've got 4-5 Sectorials, the first is a good opportunity to turn the faction on it's head though.
Well, if we do the laziest number analysis ever and combine that with glancing over at Yu Jing's sectorial release history (and ignore JSA), one of the high-level design conclusions that we can come to is that it makes perfect sense to start off releasing mostly units for one sectorial and a small scattering of units for 2-3 planned sectorials only to have the primary "vanilla" sectorial to be the last planned sectorial to release. The primary benefit of this is that you'll have plenty of new "fodder" for each release, with lesser risk of having a poor hype-and-economic bump because you release a sectorial with familiar units. Also, it'll allow you to gradually build up what works and what's missing. Additionally, what seems to have happened with the last few primary faction sectorials is that they've aimed at presenting a sectorial with a fairly consistent number of new releases, but you need a ground to build from. Basically, to me it seems like what we're getting is the "space blockade" forces while the current vanilla is mostly "paradiso ground forces", while all is under the administrative wings of Bureau Aegis. I can also glean a "counter-intelligence forces" sectorial possible that has few units presently. So working with this theory, we've got quite a few units in the vanilla that are unlikely to be seeing a sectorial in quite some time (to me those include Gamma and Delta, but we'll see, won't we?) because CB will want to take a few units that we're familiar with and bolster them with about twice as many new units plus REMs in order to get a good release with decent new sales and decent number of new shinies for us to be hype about. Now, as for your last paragraph; keep in mind that this is a main faction. There will be unit overlap and there will be units that are primarily useful in their sectorials. Starmada might have Epsilon or it might have a unit that's fairly similar to the Epsilon. Maybe your mimetic MSV2 unit for Starmada will have a Missile Launcher loadout instead of sniper and a Spitfire instead of HMG, but otherwise be very similar to Epsilon.
Ignoring JSA is a bit of a catch-22. They were a YU JING Sectorial to start with, but YJ stuff was as heavily compartmentalized as Ariadna. I don't think there is anything special about what O-12 stuff we had before this announcement. It just seemed to be the 'greatest hits' if you will.
If you zoom in on the bright light at the back of the photo there is another figure’s shadow there that looks either like a hooded figure or a female with longer hair....hoping for a mean hooded option. Does anyone else see that?
I can see Deltas everywhere... Right side of the illustration and the art on the side of the box... I hope I will be able to field all of them!
