The Nomad Action pack is going to be 10 minis too, so (hopefully) that's going to be the new format of starters from now on, it would make sense, to sell a starter you can immediately play with.
The upcoming Nomad and Haqq action packs are N3/N4 only. As communicated by Koni when first announced and in the latest studio update. I also wonder about the use of action pack as the 4 we've seen announced so far are all based on the contents of Operation Thingthing and Beyond. For a brand new sectorial I would have expected an Army box (not a 300pt box) like USARF, JSA, or Spiral. 9-10 models plus terrain, dice, etc. They all brought along a lot of brand new units too. So maybe "Action Pack" is the new term for a large box single faction starter.
Ugh. Shared terminology between two systems. Not great. In either case, it's not the CodeOne AP so there is no mandatory tie-in with the units we already have - and the ones in the C1 AP are almost guaranteed not to be in Starmada AP (barring maybe Kappa)
The USARF, JSA, Spiral Corps boxes never really had a name outside of 'Army Pack'. That caused a toooooooooon of confusion with the 300 point Army Packs. I'm okay with Action Packs being the 10 model sets, personally. It's not like they cannot add the rules to Code One later.
I wonder if they'll repackage Nox into a CA Booster Pack, or do 2 new ones. I'd think O12's boosters would probably be Varangians and Lynx, but we haven't seen ANY Booster Pack for Code One yet, right? So the theme might be different. It's an interesting split, trying to spread the releases out enough so you're not piling a bunch of purchases on your customers, but also having enough releases to fill out the units for your forces.
From what they said during the launch of C1 the boosters are not homogenous, so you're going to see a Crusher, Lynx, and Psi-COp (for example) in a booster, rather than three Crushers. You're not going to see a Varangian in a booster though, they don't exist in C1. Some boosters will be repacks, Bostria said that you can expect some of the Icestorm PanO like the Swiss Guard HMG, Nisse Sniper, etc to pop back up in a booster, but they're going to try not to mix new and existing sculpts in the same box.
I have a feeling that we could see a Foreign Company style fireteam with the Defiance characters (Uma, Qiang, Cadin and Jazz) in Starmada. The whole premise of Defiance is that it is an O-12 strike team responding to a crisis, Starmada could be the name given to that strike team.
Well, i have the opposite feeling, i think it will be the Saladino sectorial that acts as "Defiance Hunting Party" on Defiance Outcast
seems this is the case because n4 involves a time skip and defiance characters become fugitives in the sphere upon their return saladin and lynx seem a safe bet for starmada imo
Curious where you found this lore. Been looking around and hadn’t found anything like that. Was aware of the time skip, but not the fugitive status of those heroes.
Defiance covers the heroes preparing for their mission and travelling beyond the Acheron gate, the Outcast expansion has them return to the Human Sphere and be chased by O-12 until they can prove they've not all been brainwombled by the EI, and then Revenant has them working as a merc company (the Mobile Intervention Force) and coming into contact with John Kestrelboner and his White Company.
I’m hoping that there will eventually be a NA-2 that will have a sectorial made up of most of the contents available from Defiance.
I wrote a LI Vanilla Ariadna list that was only named characters. I haven’t had a chance to play it yet, but I think it would do ok.
it's all part of the ks updates for defiance https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/corvusbelli/infinity-defiance/posts/2672522
My predict for Starmada: PSI-Corps basic unit (AVA total) fireteam special PSI-Corps + Ëpsilon Haris and core for Crushers Catherine wildcard Varangian special core Cuervo and deltas Omega Haris too many members with 0-g or multiterrain (A rly hope for a Blas de Lezo character XD) obviously Casanova in the sectorial NOC operative unity (ODD maybe... like Locust unit but in O-12)
