I like the idea of a separation of Japanese troops from the Yu Jing army. I never really hooked up with the neo-traditional look developed by CB for this section (which I personally find completely absurd in a futuristic war universe). I do not think it is necessary to blame CB for this split: they must have a well-arrested idea on the development of each branch of Yu Jing. For me who only plays Yu Jing Vanilla, I find that many players have lost the very spirit of Yu Jing: A professional army equipped with the best equipment and the best combat armor. If the loss of the Japanese troops and parallel the arrival of the Invincible Army allows to regain that spirit then I am completely for. On the other hand I look forward to what profiles will be integrated with the AI to effectively fill the holes left by the separatists. (If at the pass CB could rid our soldiers of their robes it would be nice, but so far no invincible is wearing ). I can blame a little more on CB for the use of characters from other universes. Generally speaking I do not like the incarnation of soldiers in "characters " and it is even more true when it is completely copied from existing things. It would have been better to create characters from the universe of Infinity.
The image from left to right: Not-Motoko, Not-Celti, I don't know probably a Keisotsu or an Oniwaban, Kempeitai. The Scythe on Celti is exactly the point where a cool homage crosses the line to become a ridiculous plagiarism, a biker with a scythe? come on! that doesn't even have the rule of cool to fall back on.
Place the edge on the outside of the Scythe's curve, and you got a cross between a lance and a cavalry's saber :p Also, there is a shaolin weapon that is essentially a stick with two curved blades on the extremes (kinda like (|------|) ) But yeah, it's a blatant "inspiration". However, considering she is alone instead of in a box of 4 (like the Suicide Morlocksquad) it's not so blatant, and the bike is really cool (and very different to the ones we have atm, and the one in the Durarararara!!!!! show).
Yeah, I think that might be better. I first thought they had decided to put all the cool guys in the same picture, but now I realize that the guy/gal on the right is too small and thin to be "not-Batou" and also wears that... hakama-like-pants? I don't know how to call it. So probably female Keisotsu, so we have even split between guys/gals..
The more I think about a Celty inspired biker with a scythe, the more I realize, I will be needing two of that model. One to paint up for my display and another one to convert into something less ridiculous.
Are we certain that all models in the box will be new or is there any chance that the oniwaban will be the current one? I'd love a new one as that would give me a third sculpt to fully fill up my AVA
Am I the only one who sees that helmet and thinks 'I just have to convert it to look like Sonic's head'? Gotta go fast!
i just hope that this division, if there is, have a big impact on other factions as well. example: Who will aleph support? YJ empire or rebels? or both? lots of shadowy interests in there. What will Pano do about this? now that the Jade dragon is broken, will they seize the opportunity on svarhaleima? What will other faction do? will they try to seize info/intel/tech from both party in an attempt to gain as much as possible from this thing? THAT IS WHAT I WANT TO SEE! BLOOD, 0-G, TRAISON, FURRY OTAKU FIGHTING FOR THEIR LIVES!
I don't see any of the other factions directly supporting JSA, but most of them would support them covertly rather than directly. IMO PanO would most probably push this advantage on all possible fronts. Haqq, Nomads and Ariadna (don't know if the last one matters at all) would probably side with JSA in secret. Or even if they plan to exploit both sides they would still lean towards JSA given they have no reason to like YJ's guts, ambitions or aggressive and mistrusting foreign policies. Perhaps only Aleph might truly side more with YJ in this scenario. Having YJ as a rival for PanO strengthens Aleph's bargaining power with both sides. A diminished YJ and unchallenged hyperpower PanO may not be in Aleph's best interest.
The major difference between PanO's military and Yu Jing's military is that PanO's military is designed to help them maintain cutting edge technological/logistical advantages and do so on a large scale, which allows for their hegemonic domination of the interstellar politics as the only hyperpower in the game. It is a large scale force made up entirely of professional volunteers who have been given the equipment and training they need to achieve victory without sacrificing themselves, as befits the requirements of war in the PanOceania Lobby Democracy's political mindset (i.e. high casualties are unacceptable) and relies on firepower, technology, superior intelligence and planning, and naval dominance in any engagement. Yu Jing's military is designed to defeat PanO's military.
Yep and the major is the pre-order bonus. according to the info, that I assume is for retailers, it's a clean break from Yu Jing.
