OMFG ! Thanks i have a gun. Not that i have ammos (and it's black powder anyway, so takes centuries to load...), but a 1851 Colt navy is nearly 50 cm of metal and weights nearly half the weight of an M-14. Heavy enough to knock someone out ! (...plus i still have my battle-ready 2H sword, better safe than sorry !)
Instead of a 2H sword, for fighting at home you'd be better with something shorter like a gladius: heavy enought to inflict heavy damage (even without sharp edge), yet easy to wield indoors :p
And a large scutum! Remember, short, controlled, chops or stabs. Don't extend your arm beyond the shield for long, always keep the shield between you and the enemy, and never abandon your partner in arms.
Same. And I have no sword at home... Still works perfectly to scatter people away from me. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Interestingly enough, apparently there was a lot of tech to use montante in narrow bystreets of contemporary towns. Granted, it was assumed that you at least have some space above you, which probably isn't the case at home. I mean, I've managed to damage a ton of stuff while trying to train with a freaking cane at home, including walls, ceiling and a lamp. Can't imagine people doing something useful with a two-hander there. Unless they use it like a makeshift polearm or something. Speaking of which, I'm pretty sure that a few months ago there were news about HMC dude fighting off a robber who broke into his house with a polearm of some sort.
I used my replica cutlass to chase out an errant raccoon out of my game room last year. In confined spaces a blade of reasonable length works wonders and that solid basket hilt can be a godsend.
You completely, and understandably, misunderstood me. I was trying to convey people’s general lack of willingness to do ANYTHING to prevent dying. As in, they wouldn’t bother spending an order to move outside the DZ to prevent death.
Now the question is - who is she and what forces can she be deployed with... Her name screams Svalarheima, but that doesn't have to mean a thing in game terms.
Could be Varangian related? Svalarheima seems to be a flashpoint in the N4 "present" so the Icebreakers could be a local merc outfit. I know in the Mayacast interview Bostria said they wanted to do a merc so all human Vanilla factions could use it. That was a while ago though and the final decision hadn't been made.
Could be a Sval/Merc choice. So she's not a Pano vanilla option like Gunner, but still shows up in a "Hometown" sectorial.
She could be a harpooner on a fishing ship named icebreaker. Just like the name suggest... But the more important thing would be... What the (drowned) hell are they fishing on Svalaherma?
Space Whales from the sounds of it. They're Whalers on the Moon, they carry a harpoon, but there aint no whales so they tell tall tales and sing their whaling tune.
Just a theory: harpooner on a space faring boarding vessel? Harpoon being the gun used to capture the hostile vessel, the whale being the hostile vessel and the icebreaking being enemy formations or blockades.
