Also because they got a bit uninspired coming up with more. And they would have to redo the range later. And they INSISTED that 'Vanilla' Tohaa was a Sectorial to start with.
After this one for O-12 I hope they don't do any more sectorals for a few years. There's plenty. Just update existing ones, add or subtract troops, new figs, etc. Here's a call for Exrah mercenaries! I know there's a few old timers like me that want a use for those old figures.
Yes, to collect more minis, more unit profiles, more character profiles and more ways to use your beloved alien faction!!! :p
Call me a fool but I actually got rid of some of my old Exrah. Jump Operator was always ugly and Caskuda never once saw table time (I bought it late in N2, did a conversion to make it fit correctly on a 40mm base, found out that 55mm bases were going to be a thing for TAGs, and then saw it dropped from the game).
The Iskaller is possibly the worst model CB ever made, looks like a cheap Dr. Who/early Star Trek rubber suit alien, and not in a good way. That said, I also wasn't upset when Ko Dali got brainwombled because it meant I'd never have to see the old model with her massive head ever again.
OK, hopefully I didn't miss it earlier in the thread, but is Betrayal actually up for preorder yet, or has it just been announced thus far?
So Starmada is an action pack. The only other two we have are 10 models. So dies that mean this one is going to be that big too. I would be super stoked for 10 new models. (Bigger starters/faction sets might also help keep SKU's under control)
In the video said it will be no preorder for betrayal. you can buy the normal edition or the limited.
There's three, aren't there? shas, O-12 and nomads And kinda similar to already existing things like the spiral, JSA and USARF* boxes. Basically a starter+1+beyond and one mini is always S5/6. If that ends up erasing starter packs it would be quite nice, and end the lie that starter packs are good for starting.
Except when there's no S5+, such as the Yu Jing sides of both Red Veil and Kaldstrom, which while chunky, are all S2. Or Aleph from Coldfront with it's S4 as the highest S value or the Shasvasti C1 Action Pack. I think the "mandatory big mini" in the Army Packs is incidental more than a rule. Yes, they'll have something that grabs attention, but it's not necessarily a big mini *nods towards Daofei HMG*
I never had the Caskuda :( I thought tit was really cool though. I still use some of them as proxies and HVT. Ya I have to admit they were not their best figures. I liked the Iskaller except for it's weird arms. I liked their rules more than anything. The Rodok kind of took their place as Mimetisim/Sujper Jump troops so sometime I'll use them as a proxy. Their old background would make it easy to bring back as a couple Mercs though.
To be fair about the Aleph set, while the Rudrads is technically a S4, the model is as tall as a S5 that they accidentally made too wide, and didn't want to bump up to 7. It actually looks like it could step over my Mulebots, and they're technically the same size!
If only we had a whole separate alien faction to the Combined Army that wasn't just effectively shelved... We can have more aliens. But let's not pretend that Combined Army is the only way to do it. We had the Tohaa as a chance for this, but they treated the faction as a Sectorial not a core army with unique rules.
