    INFINITY NOMADS TUNGUSKA: Zondnautica

    Fast Offensive Unit Zondnautica
The reason why I wanted to do Nomads was this guy. I just love this mini set, it's so cool. I was careful to make sure I matched all the colours between the different modes (If you look carefully at the studio models there is a bit of a mismatch). Not sure why some of the leg armour is missing in robot mode, nor where the collar on the rider goes when she is dismounted. Anybody have any idea?

Even though this is a Tunguskan unit I just had to add more red than black this time as red bikes just go faster. I also wanted the armour panels to stand out easily from the under armour in the robot mode and the red really sells this. There were lots of cool shiny textures to paint, which was laborious but satisfying to finish. One tricky part was doing the tires so they look like rubber compared to the shiny metallic bits. To that end I drybrushed them as well as picked out the edge highlights. Overall, very satisfying miniatures to paint.

Insectlike, inhuman, deadly and hollow. These guys look they mean business. I took my time with them to bring out the different textures of black. Pleasure to paint and satisfying to finish. These guys finished off my first round of Tunguska for the moment...

If not the models themselves, then your great paintjobs let me fall in love with Tunguska! Really great work with the red and the white here!

The textures you added to the clothes and holster really differentiate them from the material of the armour.

Thanks guys. I did a lot of study and preparation to make this dark coloured army interesting and stand out.

Your stuff is top level as always but imo your blue OSL might be a little too weak, but I might be biased because your color scheme look a lot like mine ^^ and I do a lot more trashy blue OSL
did you tried the fluo stuff from vallejo ? I really like those for lights

I've been eyeing those for bright green lights. What are they like?

It’s true I never really go too bright with osl. Depends if you want it to stand out a lot. My taste is for weak osl, as I imagine my minis to be sunlit, so bright osl wouldn’t be natural. The studio models are painted similarly.

Another reason I don’t do too bright is that I’m just not that confident on doing full on osl lighting lol (plus a bit too lazy to do more wet blending in a mini). I’m trying to improve each time I do it and am happy enough, but one of these days I want to work on a night lit army and do a bit more crazy and full on osl (plus use some fluoro paint I got lying around not being used)

INFINITY NOMADS TUNGUSKA: Grenzer (Multi Sniper Rifle)
Grenzer, Grenz Security Team (Multi Sniper Rifle)
So I didn't plan on expanding my Tunguska army anytime too soon, but a couple of stragglers popped in a the last minute. I'm quite fond of the Grenzer sniper. I think its his goggle eyes that I like. I kept him dark like my other guys, but he isn't too different from the studio colours. Overall a quick simple model to paint.

Love the eyes and OSL effect. Would you mind sharing how you approach that?

    Sure no problem.

    I use only 2 colors:

    Vallejo MC Blue Green
    Vallejo GC Verdigris

    Steps (for eye):
    1. Wash blue green over whole area including inside socket
    2. Paint blue green over whole eye
    3. Mix 50/50 blue green/Verdigris and stipple paint over 80% of eye.
    4. Paint 50/50 mix highlight to edge of socket on bottom half to show light reflection.
    5. Stipple paint pure Verdigris to middle of eye.

    hope this makes sense :-)

NON-METALLIC METAL STEEL PAINTING GUIDE: Zondnautica
    [IMG]

    NNM Steel Painting Guide
So I'm a bit of a beginner when it comes to non-metallic metal painting. However, I wanted to give it a shot on my Infinity minis and I started practicing the technique on my JSA models about three years ago (wow three years into Infinity now!). In the past, working on GW models, I preferred to paint metallic metals, however the techniques are fairly similar. If you paint steel, you only have to replace the metallic silver paints with greys and in both techniques white and black are used as extreme highlights and shadows. One thing I did improve upon over the past was thinking about a light source and how it hits a surface and I tend to think about this more when painting NNM metallic parts.

Although I don't consider myself an expert on NNM technique, I have gained some mastery in the last three years and I decided to put together a tutorial to share my experience, largely because Oni on the forum asked me how to do it. Apologies Oni for the late response! The subject of the tutorial will be applying NNM to the steel parts in seven stages to the Zondnautica motorbike.

If you are interested please check out the full painting guide on my blog here.

    The finished model is here.

INFINITY NOMADS TUNGUSKA: Spektr (Combi Rifle)

    Spektr (Combi Rifle)
The last straggler from the battle pack (and last Tunguska guy for a while). Simple and fast model to paint. Kept him dark like his teammates but left the white helmet and gauntlets that are kinda iconic on this Nomad mini.

INFINITY NOMADS BAKUNIN: Reverend Healer (Combi Rifle)

    Reverend Healer (Combi Rifle)
One of my favorite all time Infinity miniatures. This gal is the reason I went into a panic last December and bought the battle pack that was going out of production. Likely this mini will be rereleased in an army box, dang those clever people at CB tricking me into buying more miniatures... Actually I quite like their new sales strategy of battle packs being replaced by army boxes after a year. It makes planning collecting much easier.

I painted her with more white than my Tunguska guys, which fits in with her role but is also consistent with Bakunin colours. Loved working on her face and spent at least an hour on it alone. Even managed to pull of a sideways glance for once! Lots of freehand too made it quite a tricky mini to finish. I also upped the highlights on her black leggings etc to invoke a more glossy sexy leather fetish vibe to her (probably should have gone all the way to white though). What's the deal with sexy scifi nuns with white hair dressed in leather anyway? I may not be adding much to her sectorial but geewiz I like her a lot.

I just use many layers of watered down paint and apply it with wet blends. It takes around 3 to 5 depending on shading.

    INFINITY NOMADS CORREGIDOR: Alguacils
    [IMG]
    Alguacils
Have to admit I'm not a super fan of the look of these line troopers. The Studio ones are painted so red they look like they are wearing prison jumpsuits, the blokes look like they pumped iron but skipped legs day and I think the shoulder pads remind me too much of 40K orks from the 80s. That said, they are an essential Nomad trooper so I had to do my best to make them shine.

I wanted to keep them mostly red due to their sectorial colours but not do them like the Studio. To this end, I muted the red on their fatigues, which as it turns out harks back to the N1 Alguacils lol! The male models were a bit tricky to assemble as the arms didn't seem to line up well so I had to use quite a bit of greenstuff to make them work. Other than that they were pretty easy to do and I batch painted the lot fairly quickly (but not overly enthusiastically) over a couple of days. They turned out OK I guess and I tried to give them as much personality as possible.
