Jing is a mimetic BS13 unit that packs C+, N:WI, and is also a specialist. There's plenty of reasons to use her beyond her melee stats. Missions like Supremacy are another one she's solid on, mobile enough to reach consoles no matter where they are, able to sweep out enemy skirmishers, activate consoles, and able to hide points in hard to reach areas to dominate quadrants. @Space Ranger I also forgot the last reason to bring a monk for her. It's the cheapest way to make Frenzy stay turned off until you want it on.
Like i said it's my first time using it. But the Duo ended up hurting more than helping in this game. I'll try with and without. I like JQ because she's a good all-arounder. Good BS with ok weapon, specialist, vis-mods, and very good CC. I might try the same list with tweeks next time. I wish i could have an all Zhanshi link though :( It's like they went out of their way to make sure WB had no good links. I tweeked the list a bit. Changed the the TG into a KHD and maded the Zhanshi HD into a basic guy. It would have been a surprise for Jazz to hack what is thought to be a Zhanshi HD and turns out to be a KHD. The changed the Shang ji to Adil, just because I want to try him. He's also a lot cheaper and allows for also taking a doctor. I have not played with this yet. I think it's an excellent combo. You have smoke, a specialist, 2 melee units, 1 gun fighter. To me the link makes them more reliable for doing what you need them to do. You can always break the link and let them run ramped when the link has fulfilled their mission. If you can get Jing Qo and the monk in to CC with Mc Murder you would have a better go at it imo. I'm just a bit gun shy on the link because it's expensive.
To be fair, together they cost the same as a Hulang. I'm really curious about Adil! I find it's always tough to fit sensor into a list, and here it's attached to a solid fighter and specialist.
I think it my new list he's might be good particularly in that link. The Sensor can uncover camo hackers for the YM KHD, if not a hacker, it's Jammer-time!
Jing Qo is better than Hulang, though. Sure, no Shock Immunity, but Climb+ is one of those things that Hulang is missing and Jing has significantly better stats - crucially including both higher PH and Hyper-Dynamics. Yet again, we have Frenzy to thank for validating what would otherwise be a far too costly melee unit.
While it lasts, it's kinda nice to be on the receiving end of frenzy shenanigans for once. Hopefully there's a more elegant solution in N4.
Jing is cool but I'm thinking Not to mention, non-hackable, better BS, better gun, better pistol, and hyper dynamics. Obviously cheaper.
Well.. you've probably read my opinion on melee in this game by now, that it's generally too expensive so hopefully that'll go down in price by a similar degree to how Frenzy is nerfed.
Hope, not think. Preferably by the drawback kicking in faster and always instead of the discount going away. I mean, can you name a single unit that's got it where it's an actual drawback? It's just too easy to suppress and it tends to activate a turn after it was relevant.
I really do wish we got Liang Kai able to link with a regular Shaolin. I think it would be thematic and make him more fun. I can kind of guess why it's not a thing, even as a duo that's a lot of damage potential and utility for 27 points. But I still want it. Let's face it, the only reason he's included in PanO and O-12 is to make the limited mini more appealing to more Kaldstrom/C1 buyers. I see no problem with giving him more toys for when he plays for his home team. Especially since it feels like his kit is already a lot more at home in Yu Jing as it is. Also, I want to make a point of saying that I'm not necessarily bothered by him being made available to other factions. In my books, he's one of CB's finest sculpts. I appreciate any reason to see his lovely model on the table.
Sure, that'd be nice. CB seems to like their points-efficient warbands, though, and a lot of players do too. McMurrough's an extreme example.
I think he's just talking about Frenzy being a dud mechanic used to fuck with points values rather than actually be a game mechanic. McMurder is the only really egregious example of an actual impetuous unit, and it's not really his Fury rule causing it's the fact that he got a manually adjusted discount during the TI rework.
Not talking about the warbands. I'm talking about units like Myrmidons (and their ilk), Riot Grrls, Libertos, Grey Rifles, Asawira, Jeanne d'Arc, Hospitaller, Santiago, Willy Wally, Kornak, Thorakitai (and their ilk), Saakiel, Neema Sataar, Ikari* Tanko, Senor Massacre, Valkyrie, 45th, Ajax, Makaul, and I'm probably missing a few. Units that use the Fury group of rules and are designed to be in Fireteams. There's also a subset of pure Fury: Frenzy solo miniatures that also need a bit of adjustment, but generally speaking they tend to be units that also pay overprice for melee capability that is just so hard to leverage. So no, I'm not talking about McMurrough. He's got other issues - mostly I just think he shouldn't have damaging grenades. * JSA is designed specifically to make Domaru and Tanko take a back seat, so while the issue exists mechanically this is the only case I can think of where sectorial design has been used to mitigate the effect of the rule benefit.
Jaguars too, but yeah. I don't think CB's shown any signs of stopping gaming their own points system. I think Total Immunity needs to be reworked for the health of the game. It's far, far too powerful as it stands.
They'll probably keep its current wording but maybe fiddle with the cost. The big potential balancing factor is how much N4 Hacking can do to the likes of McMurrough, since Total Immunity explicitly doesn't work against Comms Attacks.
At the moment it looks like Monofilament is not going to be an ammunition, so McMurrough and Karakuri but bad news for Sun who is both extremely expensive and a primary target for Speculo. That said, the only problem I've had with dealing with McMurrough so far that hasn't been an L2P or L2Dice thing is his Speculative Fire PH16 Grenades that makes his toolkit basically immune to order inefficiency. Typically he dies real hard to combi rifles from order monkeys, but only after he's speculative fired too many key pieces to death. Which isn't what I'm suggesting I hope they fix. Cheating the points system is a cheap and easy way of balancing a sectorial and creating more obvious identity, but there is a mechanical fault in how Fury is implemented on Fireteams that makes this cheat a bit too off the charts, in my opinion.
I hope not. The immunity to nonlethal weapons is unfluffy, unfun, and overpowered. He needs his vulnerability to flash pulses back, tbh. I sincerely doubt that they'll make McMurrough vulnerable to hacking in any way; Clearly with his last update he wasn't powerful enough.
