I just got my Op Kaldstrom box today, and in the 'book' that they give us there are some troop descriptions. Daofei still has his old text stating they belong to IA. CB please stop, you dont have to remind us how you crushed our hopes and dreams for Daofei IA in the first pleace.
It's pretty annoying, considering how easy it would be to retcon, or even just update the fluff to say that the Daofei's role was repurposed for more specialized operations in accordance with its higher cost and performance, while the Zhencha's cheaper frame fit more in line with IA's more generalist needs. The Hac Tao also not being present in WB is another real blemish. But I can accept that one a little more readily, as WB looks like it was designed specifically to omit TO camo/hidden deployment units on a conceptual level. Besides, he'll always perform better in Vanilla anyway. Personally, I'd like to see the Daofei properly returned to the IA, but I doubt we'll see that. For what it's worth, I think the Daofei and Zhencha profiles offer a lot of support to one another, and it's a shame that they can't function in a sectorial together. Granted, that goes back to part of the appeal of vanilla, but I doubt that giving the Daofei to IA would hurt anything.
Well, N4 is not out yet. It might be they rework the Dao Fei back into IA when Verstuurd vanaf mijn SM-G930F met Tapatalk
I sincerely doubt that, much as I'd like it. The most I'm hoping for is a reconciliation of the fluff to actually make sense for its departure in some way.
I didn't think about it before but recently I found a decent theory posted by someone in this subforum. Hac tao won't be in wb, daofei and tigers won't be in ia because there would be too much overlap between sectorials. They already share shangers, Zhanshi, Defiance heroes, guijia and attack rems. That's why we got zhencha, Liuxing and jujak.
Yes, but at the end for the selling they couldn't avoid to put some damm shang jis on whiete banner, and better make them mandatory to link the WB native HI. sometimes it looks that CB goes on a very short term planning regarding to units and game desing. Hopefully they are getting more time with N4
I honestly think Hac Tao fit better in WB than Daofei and Daofei fit better in IA than Hac Tao. Shangers for WB, as they are now, are an obstacle to Jujak and can safely be removed without replacement. Zhanshi are also fairly unwelcome in IA, even if they are necessary to keep the sectorial bouyant, and can on a gameplay level be replaced without creating a new Keisotsu-situation (multiple duplicate LI in vanilla). It's also funny how Qiang Gao is redundant in IA, but a valuable asset for WB. That leaves Lei Gong whom both sectorials need to provide a somewhat effective counter to difficult linked MSV2 units. He performs better in IA because of the linkable Panggolin FTO profile (offering the panggolin as a sacrifice to get free shots with Lei Gong against a Kamau actually has a fairly low risk of putting the Panggo in Dead state compared to a sacrificial Zhanshis or HI). He's a welcome asset in both.
That is what you get, when you want to safe the effort to look over your old text according to new fluff you wan´t to build. The Uprising showed us, how much CB seems to follow their fluff, so they make a big cut in YJ. In Deadalus Fall, in the Pardiso-Campagin rules, they explain a intel-rule with an old example, mentioning an Obiwan in Yu Jing. The realy have to put more attention to things like that. Again, that shows me, how much effort were put into the campagin section I also agree that the Hac Tao would fit better in WB than in an already very expensive HI sectorial like IA, but I see no reason, why he couldn´t be in both. Also I think that WB has too much characters from other sectorials. Jing and Liang are WB but Adil, Qiang and Lei are loans. That looks like it was a little rushed. But I also has to agree, that Qiang fits - rules wise - better in WB. For Shang Ji - they are our Orcs and for me, its okay to have them in WB and IA. But I miss the Jacket for the WB Shang Ji
Totally agree. If the YanHuo got a bump of some sort to replace "DZ many-dice roller" it would create space to remove the HacTao as an artillery piece (vs the HMG) and open room for the DaoFei and Zencha as Specialist/Attack duo in the midfield. Today the HacTao seems a lone wolf in a tightly packed Army sectorial, and for some reason the DaoFei feels it would mesh more with the IA Army spirit, playing with more synergies with Zencha for example. Would it be too strong? I honestly don´t believe so.
I red the Daofei BG just yesterday evening and thought about this topic and I laughed xD. Anyway WB seems really good, maybe there’s hope...
