It's not like PanO has a particularly good streak of getting good and/or interesting characters :/ Agnes is a CQB/Specialist unit, it's a niche application for Fusilier core, but it's there.
Agnes would be infinitly more useful if she had the ability to link with Varger and Nisse so you could keep the price og their core links down a bit. A Nisse Haris with an HMG and a Machinist plus Agnes...that I would Play.
I see a lot of Fusilier filler links for Orcs and KoJs. But I haven't seen many with a Fusilier missile launcher. Is 5/1.5 just too much investment for what it brings?
I have a feeling Agnes is a bit of an after thought, keep in mind they only decided to make her a mini after people loved the character from the defiance kickstarter. I suspect she wasnt in the initial balancing of the sectorial and just slapped that profile in there so the defiance mini is "usable in infinity". maybe she'll be a little more thought out in N4 but I doubt it.
It's still a good choice, it's just people preference towards the durability of the KoJ or orc feuerbach.
I meant more shopping the lines of a second missile launcher for the team. To me, it seems like a small investment for what you get.
Well, adding a 2nd swc heavy weapon to a fireteam can have significantly lower returns on investment. Depending on your tables, you may not be able to cover that much more table with it without over exposing a piece. It also means that the link can get harder to work with if it needs to do something and only one piece can be the active model. It also means that you're pulling offensive firepower and investing more in a semi static defensive point on the table. Some sectorials are less swc reliant and can do this with little to no real impact on the rest of the list.
Yeah, I've really only done it with Onyx. It was kinda fun, and cheap, to have a Plasma Sniper and Missile Launcher, both with Assisted Fire. Then have a Sphinx to run around murdering things. But it wasn't something I'd do normally. I'm really not a fan of defensive links in general. I much prefer running Rodoks. I haven't been able to make a list I like for SWF though. So I wondered how folks thought. I'd probably like to add one with a KoJ Spitfire and leave him behind if he's still alive when it's time to move the link up.
On a side note, I know what unit Agnes reminds me of. Tensho Experts. Both are basically a sidegrade of their "parent" unit, though in Agnes' case the cost difference is worse.
I'll try this "corner keeper" role that has been mentionned earlier. Could be worth the 16 points if she does it really well.
I don't mind paying this cost for additional Specialist with DTW in the fireteam, but it's a boring thing for a Character to do
As a corner keeper are a lot of options, the classics, cheaper and more or less better. Yes, Agnes has a template, but you only could keep a short corner, because the range of his weapons are really short 8''. The same range of SSL1. As a Corner keeper probably you don't place Agnes in the "core", so, no doble template. Most of REMS will be better "corner keepers" because they have a bigger siloutte, which means, cover the corridor only occuping the space. With two inconscious levels the enemy probably need shoot it again in ordter to avoid the "non dead rem". Son, for 16 points you can align 2 rems flash pulse or bagage. The only advantage is Agnes can hidden better, but still cost us one and half fusilier. I like more 2 fusiliers than 1 agness. If Agnes should save the day agains a big boy using his smg AP ammo, probably all goes wrong in Game, so we will be triying to "play only lucky" (more lucky than usual at least :P). Agnes is, to me, a curiosity, with little space to include in a list beyond why I like to play Agnes for play Agnes. No more, no less. :) Said all this, please, tell us how she does, maybe we will find most are wrong "theory infinity" and Agness is "a badass corner keeper". I'am open to think in this way.
Adding the Fusilier ML and leaving it out as an ARO piece next to the HI creates an easier attack vector to strip 5 man benefits. Prone on a roof you're probably better off just trying to doctor the HI ARO piece back to life. A casual Fusilier HMG to spray and pray ARO threats and to make everything in its threat area keep their heads down is usually a better second SWC piece to add after the KOJ ML. Specifically for Varuna 1SWC vs 1.5SWC makes a big difference. Not quite sure how SWC hungry Sval usually is yet. Personally I'm severly underwhelmed by Linetrooper MLs. They just drop without doing anything in 3/4 games. Sure feels nice if you can make that ARO stick 1/4 games, but the only reliably way to use them is to pair them with a TO MSR or Swiss ML. Even then I'd usually prefer an MSR for better FTF in Active/Reactive and to bait multiple targets into the Swiss template.
Well, I'm not sold on her at all. I said I'll try her and I'll do it. But, yes, she is not very promising for now.
I think the Fusilier HMG isn't bad... Hiding behind Burst is definitely good. I also agree with @Teslarod that the Fusilier missile isn't my top purchase right now. I think you can probably make it useful every game, particularly if you hold it until a critical turn when your opponent's low on active-turn solutions, but that's not even the real reason I dislike it in SWF. I actually run into massive SWC crunch when I build Sval. I also find that the Core link needs to be okay advancing aggressively on Turn 3. The kind of missions where SWF would naturally excel kind of demand that you be willing to move your link up aggressively. As a result, hanging back with the missile late game, and advancing the Core alongside a KoJ late game, generally conflict with one another as roles.
this is the profile that has me interested XD unless they have compacted the model for a ph11 feuerbach i suspect this may be a spy
