    Not yet anyway!

Does anyone have experience with AP washes? I want to like them but they always seem to come out with a shiny result.

If shaking does not solve that, just paint matt medium (or varnish) over the zone, and keep on.

They are indeed glossy but as I always varnish mini I never considered it an issue.
Also, I'm you dilute them a bit with water or medium they tend to be less glossy.
Over glossy effect can be a result of letting too much wash pooling.

I feel like I shake the hell out of them because I know they have that reputation. I'm not sure if I'm using too much. I'm not keen on varnishing to seal something with weird luster. Maybe I'm being picky. I'm definitely very far in my own head in this project now.

Go back in after the fact with a steady hand a very fine brush and run some ink in there to bring the lining back in and help with definition.

I think it looks sloppy, but being 20 times bigger than the model doesn't help. I think I am used to super black lining. Here its VMC Flat Earth, but I don't think its enough. Maybe VMC Chocolate. I'm also not sold on the spot color. That is the grey blue that Kanluwen suggested but maybe it needs to be darker, or a green. I think I'm nearly happy with it. Nearly.

I would stay with the light blue as contrast. Works really well. Maybe making the skin a bit more „rosy“ could help to differentiate it from the armour plates. But at the same time, this does not work with beeing in the desert all day ;)

Yellow visor getting lost in khaki or OK? Debating about a dark turquoise but unsure. Thinking of dark blue grey as spot color for RTF, dark green for QK spot, and whatever the visor ends up being for HB. Thoughts?[IMG]

Yeah, a gradiated turquoise would go really nice and maybe not get as lost against the ivory from a distance. And it'd tie in with the lights on the base. Give it a try.

Other faction, other issues. Switched from light grey with dark green stripe and light green optics to jade with orange optics for my Yu Jing army. The white seemed very anemic even with the stripe. But the orange doesn't offset the jade as I hoped. I added some grey stripes. Maybe another yellow street stripe?

I would do the orange a bit heavier. I truthfully had to look really hard to even spot it.

It's possible that for other models it won't be as big of an issue, but here there just doesn't seem to be much of the orange to offset things.

Added red stripe. Looks like I'm going with:
Haqqislam: ivory & carmine red armor; gray cloth; green lights; dark turquoise spot; grey tech bases with blue spot
Yu Jing: jade and light grey armor; brown cloth; orange lights; brick red spot; grey street bases with yellow spot

Thinking of something else with Haqq. Might redo the tan to something a bit more scifi. Maybe white? Thoughts?
