Au contraire, someone summed it in "will sell like cocaine at the US border". I think people will go apeshit for "Let's break our chains an free ourselves from the oppressive state" or "what do these plebes think they are doing challenging the just and rightfull authority of the state ? crush em'" People will take sides, get hyped, argue about it and feel like they "own" their army even more. Hell, as an ALEPHite I think nomads are ignorant conspiracy theorists wearing tinfoil hats that don't realise that they are wrong and the blissfull AI only wants to protect humanity. Nomads think ALPEH is an evil force working it's own agenda to enslave humanity (Shodan basically)
No, see, Irwin was a project for Acontecimento, but in simulations he didn't kill any CA forces, and he encouraged the simulated PanO soldiers and citizens not to either, as they were 'beeyootiful misunderstood creatures!' - sure, he wrestled with them, but he was insufficiently lethal on the battlefield and actually detrimental to war efforts against the EI. ALEPH retired his gestalt, and will revisit the issue later, with stronger safeguards in the next iteration against seeing Morats, Hungries, and even the seemingly-extinct Iskallers as beautifal examples of nature's diversity.
Forgot this in my last post - well, at least ALEPH only screwed up and grabbed characters from the main Dynasty Warriors series... Imagine if they had've accidentally grabbed characters from Dynasty Warriors Gundam or any of the other spin-off serieses - hey, they all come from the same source, and ALEPH knows Liu Bei and all the others were real, all these must be too - there must be more to human history than they've seen before, right? EDIT: And thank-you! It's after midnight here and I'm a bit loopy from lack of sleep, that's always when my best posts are made.
JSA will sell like cocaine. Yu Jing more like... corn? Point is that a guesstimate half of all people going into Yu Jing do it for the faction as a whole and half for JSA - so losing half of the factions attraction power to people who are new is a concern. JSA is a large portion of faction identity. The old fucks who'll take a side already have bought into Yu Jing and don't really make up a large part of new players. If we are talking a split where JSA goes to NAA and starts sharing stuff with Druze more than YJ that is.
Oooh i have an interesting thought, what if this is all temporary? JSA splits and becomes a NA faction for this campaign but the results of the campaign will decide if JSA stays with the state empire, or makes the full split and ends up like druze.
It actually makes some sense. JSA is a lot like Caledonia in that its identity is mostly separated from vanilla faction. They do things very differently, they provide typically (as in: in a typical list) only some specialists (not in a gameplay sense) to parent faction as opposed to being a staple of non-insignificant part of vanilla lists etc. I mean, yes, cheap line infantry is cool and all, you can see them very often in vanilla, as well as special purpose models like kempei, but they hardly form an identity, they rather enable truly "trademark" stuff of the vanilla to work comfortably in actual gameplay.
That seems unlikely to me from a game balance perspective. This JSA thing is introducing a number of new units into the game. CB, being a responsible company that doesn't just issue a fat new FAQ every few weeks to patch its latest balance issues (coughGWcough), actually play-tests these things ahead of time. My money says those units already have a home, whether it's in YJ or elsewhere. That's just my view though, I don't know anything for sure. Related: I'd love it if they spun off MO from PanO and gave it a more badass crusading personality.
Holo2 problems, and Seraph too ?:P (and Tuetons and their "link" issue xD) (on serious note, yes I know to error is to be human, complain mentioned above is not very serious (except for Seraph))
@eciu : The Seraph works just fine, in my opinion. I know a guy locally who has made terrific use of it the past couple of years. I agree that Teutons (and KoTHS) need work, but maybe they were waiting for a chance to yank them out of PanO for that to happen? Hey, a guy can dream, right?
Worse still, some of those old fucks might be so pissed off they stop buying models they don't know if they'll be able to use de next time the company wants to fuck Yu Jing But this is only in the case they end up wiping out the jap from vanilla
Can people seriously fucking cool it with the "Jap" comments It's a fucking ethnic slur in a lot of the world, cut that shit right out
I do not know about the current state of sales but from what I remember JSA was already selling like cocaine vs. rest of Yu Jing's corn back during when CB started the Imperial Service rework a while ago. JSA are arguably more popular than the rest of Yu Jing, they are quite different from the rest in lore, design and perhaps even combat function. Perhaps in the long run it's better to not have a single sectorial so different from the rest of the faction's identity. Ofc some others like Ariadna or CA have even more different sectorials. But there they have multiple sectorials that look and feel different from each other. While in YJ we only have JSA on one side and all the rest of Yu Jing on the other. JSA would keep looking like the odd one with every new YJ sectorial. So yeah making JSA non aligned would give the more popular (is it still so?) JSA more room and independence in game design and aesthetics so they can grow even better. It would free rest of YJ from the odd one in their pack so they can focus on being awesome in their on way. Undoubtedly this separation would have it's problems but it might be beneficial for both parties in the long run IMO.
So less YJ players so PanO can win every fuckin event even harder. Nice move. Wonder how this would go if it was instead "Neoterra explodes. Remove all Neoterran profiles from the game"; I suppose it would be something like when the Bolts came out, where PanO players would cry their hearts out and CB would back off and errata all of it before it even went live.
That is my working theory too right now. Each of the 5 new sectorals will come from the dominoes falling (likely through a Shasvasti plot that was partially uncovered at the start of Wotan, but would be even better if it was the Triumvirate leading up to their release next year) as the Sphere devolves into internal conflicts taking attention away from the EI's advances. Varuna comes out to quell the Ateks and Japanese on Aconticimento. IA for the reasons we all have seen. Tunguska and the Sultanate make a power plays in the midst of the weakening of Pan-O and YJ, for very different reasons. Kazaks try to unify Ariadna to kick everyone off of Dawn to secure the Teseum completely. Aleph steps up the OSS's actions to try and put a lid on everything (giving us Vedic).
Man, i really like this theory, and it makes sense given what weve seen so far. Although id replace sultanate with Rama (makes sense theyd break out the big boys of Haqq to make a play for power in the sphere).
Hold up, hold up, hold up... The MO players have been meme'ing Deus Vult as a slogan for ages now, and you want to bin the only Military Order that uses it as their actual slogan? Only ten more, but PanO had a slightly more active main core of players - I was the guy who put the most Nomad battles in by a small lead over the next most active player, and well, I'm me, I lost like 9/10, and I was still only half as many games (64 LJ to 32 Del S) as LuisJoey in Pan-O. But it is fair to argue Pan-O's points win there was actually quite slim in real terms. Nomads had numbers in people but not so much in games played basically. It's not exactly difficult to close the gap on PanO even for Yujing, but the perception I get seems to be they've had better luck with their players being able to put time in during ITS and Campaigns of late. If Ariadna had another 200 players they'd have been up there with the Nomad-PanO base on numbers, and punched well above their weight in Wotan and Flamestrike. However Yu-Jing had about 50 less players and around 100 less games than the other two big factions, and I got the general impression the YJ playerbase was demoralised and not putting in much of a push in Wotan, even with some small goodies given to them in the form of the Bounty Hunter bonus. Crucially, though, they took as many losses nearly as the PanO and Nomad factions in Wotan and put in less wins than Ariadna. If Wotan is any indication, Yu-Jing as a faction is performing below expectations. Personally, I think that points even more towards it being unlikely JSA are truly breaking away 100%, because it's going to weaken a faction already shaky in the meta. On the other hand, Yu-Jing underperformance at Wotan could be a good fluff reason the rebels have struck, because the State Empire seems weak, but again, I feel that points more to a Kempetai-led rebel NA2 group going into open rebellion.
