I honestly won't mind if they do a full split (which I feel looks likely). I play JSA primarily and only just recently started expanding to the rest of Yu Jing. I might need to get a few more things to flesh out vanilla if that is the case, but I was doing that anyway.
Im actually ok if we lose some characters, I just hope PanO loses something someday too (spoiler: not gonna happen)
Hehe! Yeah, it might sting a bit but to me it would make for an interesting development in the setting, an interesting challenge for building vanilla YJ and interesting times ahead for new YJ units to make up for the loss.
I wonder if other factions will see a similar thing, as the plot moves on. Are there any frictions that we might see exploited? I've often wondered what's going on with the whole Saladin/Sun Tzu conspiracy thing, for one, but I can't think of something on the same level as the discontent of Japanese citizens in YJ.
They could cut it in half : havin a JSA Yu-Juing sectorial like the one we have now, representing JSA that stayed inside Yu-Jing and an independant JSA representing JSA that get free from Yu-Jing with the old JSA unit minus some Yu-jIng unit plus some new units and some merc units (including support from one or two other power)
New "Caledonian" character, Robert the Bruce... because ALEPH only watched Braveheart. And this time for sure the recreation won't land on his head! Elsewhere, the AI inserts agents into other rival groups...

Yu Jing gets a wave of new Recreations! So many of them, and all from one of the most influential Chinese works, Romance of the Three Kingdoms! ...that ALEPH missed the original works, and based them all on their Dynasty Warriors versions. But hey, that's okay, among the wave of new PanO recreations, Acontecimento gets one specifically for them! One that wasn't from a video game, even - an Australian national icon and historical hero, a HI man-sized TAG and charismatic hero, like Achilles! ...Ned Kelly, as filtered through a couple hundred years of pop culture distortion. Too bad Kelly hated authority, given what the Victorian colonial police put him and his family through, huh? And even more hated rich men's hold over the poor people (in the popular consciousness, at least - he's our armour-wearing, gunslinging Robin Hood figure), given what he did when he took over that bank and burned all the mortgage and bank records - wonder how he'd take to the PanOceanian hypercapitalist society?
I asked, and my warcor answered: tons of displaced Japanese on Acontecimiento. So... maybe they are building that Takoyaki unit there? XD
Splitting out JSA is not the same as Ko Dali (who was the only Chinese character and very central to most if not all YJ lists) and it slcertainly isn't Squatting them like they did with Exrah. Most of all, JSA soldiers' place in vanilla has been a weird one and the number of profiles that need a replacement is relatively few because most of JSA just aren't interesting standalone to vanilla. I think a split would have most serious consequences for JSA-maining people who would probably see a downgrade in REM quality as a result (I wouldn't expect Rui Shi or Lu Duan to remain). After this there are the long term consequences. JSA is a very popular first Yu Jing force, and unless CB can sell Yu Jing well I can certainly see Yu Jing losing hard in popularity and growth because of it. Above all else, Zhanshi must have due attention and rebalancing if Keisotsu disappeared and people were forced to use them. (Also a Ninja replacement with Kanren as base would be interesting)
Fun little factoid though, Saladin once (unsuccessfully) laid siege to the Hassassin fortress of Alamut, campaigning against their strongholds in Syria.
