So, linkable Shaolin. Anyone willing to take bets of linkable Morlocks in N4? I *really* hope we also get a Morlock DireFoe / Spec Ops.
I would love to see my dream Bakunin link of taskmaster+morlock haris. I would be less excited for the return of a unrestricted core, althou it would bring my intruder sniper back in fashion.
I've been loving Intruder sniper lately. Kill their msv / break their link with McDoggo -> proceed with smoke filled field day haha
Likable monks with wildcard Shang Ji. I really hope this is just a N3 thing and they reign in fireteams in N4.
I’d like to see them count as Moderators but not become Regular while in a Fireteam. Managing Irregular troops in a Fireteam is something the Fireteam rules actually do well, CB just hasn’t made a unit that does it. It’d give the Mod Core some oomph that fits the fluff, but by staying Irregular you’d limit how abusive it’d be a lot. Particularly if you combine this with adding an LSG/SMG/Assault Pistol to the Chain Rifle only profiles. It’d mean you’d have to choose between the weak regular order for 9pts or the effective irregular order for 8/9pts.
Aren't Shaolin Monks irregular? That means either Inspiring Leadership (Wallace), a special skill/equipment to make them regular in the team (Oznat with Hungries control), or weirdly expensive regular order profiles.
There are 1 maybe two options here that are okay for YJ, and one that would lead to ungodly amounts of spam were it to be available in vanilla. If they were were regular they'd probably cost in the ball park of what they should.
You don't need to be Regular to be a member of a Fireteam. You just can't spend an Irregular order on a member of a Fireteam without breaking them out of the Fireteam (yes, Tac Awareness is weird because they're not actually Irregular orders... the fact they're represented by Irregular order tokens is confusing). That being said, I'd expect Shaolin to be / become Regular in a Fireteam because that sort of chaotic Fireteam doesn't suit YJ. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if they became ~10pt Regular troopers: the fact the character Monk is Regular in Code One may be indicative of this approach or may just be due Code One. OTOH I think that sort of chaotic Fireteam where you can't spend some member's orders without breaking them out of the Fireteam is perfectly appropriate for Bakunin and would limit the overall power of allowing Morlocks into Fireteams.
according to Bostria there are just regular Orders in Code One. Thats why the monks is regular. Can't tell what it be in N4.
I'm aware that there's nothing in the rules that say you have to be regular to be in a team, but aside from Loss of Lieutenant, there's currently no such team in the game. I was citing examples of what other teams that would be irregular have going on to prevent that circumstance from arising.
Yea I don't think he was saying you are wrong or anything. Just a few Bakunin players have been excited by the idea of links with irregular remaining Morlocks for a while because it seems to fit the fluff. So we explain how it could work within the current rules anytime we get a chance ;) Taskmater with 2 Morlocks Haris would be particularly cool and fluffy IMHO.
Yeah. I was mainly responding to the definitive statement. Re:Morlocks there's no reason you can't limit it to more expensive Morlock profiles and/or redesign Morlocks with a higher base cost (reducing them to 4/5profiles would work: CRAP DA CCW, CRAP EM CCW, 0.5SWC Combi+LGL, Combi Spec Ops).
as far as I know, there was a testing for Taskmaster+morlocks fireteam (maybe a haris, maybe a core, I don't know the details) before taskmaster's first release because it was fluffy. In the end was not used because that fireteam was "too powerful". While it could somewhat work, Sadly, I do not see it happening neither in the next edition.
Not really adding anything to conversation but here it is: Taskmaster from Infinity RPG has these 2 abilities SPECIAL ABILITIES • Big Buddy: Whether it’s the Moderator Corps, Die Morlock Gruppe, or some other unit, Taskmasters are used to coordinating with other forces. When leading a fireteam, they can reroll... • Little Buddy: Taskmasters are protective of their “little buddies,” any smaller, less armoured forces they deploy with. So virtually all of them. By spending...
How about a morlock being able to duo with a taskmaster? I would run the hell out of that, x3 or x4 maybe even
I really despise the idea of linking Morlocks with Taskmasters, in particular if you read the background text provided with the Taskmasters: Taskmasters don't go somwhere together with Morlocks, they use them as distraction or bait. That's not what you'd do with a valuable link member. IMO a Haris with one Taskmaster and two Moderators is still the better variant. One could even take the Hacker as a specialist, that dude would synergize with the Red Fury Taskmaster's TinBot.
I absolutely have sacrifice members. Jaguar CR, Myrm CR, Odalisques. Doubly so if they stayed irregular.
