While it is great to have all this news about Infinity as a distraction I personally think it is important to keep some perspective considering the scale and gravity of the situation.
It's probably for the best. This year will be very lacking in terms of event and gathering. Even E3 is out.
Well i'm pretty sad. This is my one vacation. Not really a vacation because I was going to help doing demos in the booth. It was pretty much the only way i was going to be able to get Kaldstrom and especially the new Monk figure. I just don't have the money to pre-order.
This is a very bad situation all around for small business and the global economy as a whole. Brexit and the pretty much biannual squabbling over oil prices between Russia and the Middle East was going to cause shakes regardless but we now face a year of airlines, travel companies, high street shops, and events locations suffering huge losses. And that's before we even try to factor in the actual direct effects of the virus on real people.
Don't be sad For what i see in italy this virus could be really a bad bad thing, cancel big event is a logic thing In italy one of the biggest convention(Modena Play, with italian satellite) was postdated to may(and who know what situation will be in may)due to virus and also For me and some friend it was the only real holyday of 2020 But health is more importnat than game so cross the fingers and hope in a good development in your country
Turns out that when you build a society which relies on constant mass consumption with margins almost entirely going to the shareholder class then when you have to halt consumption for whatever reason it crashes everything and large amounts of companies fail within days of ceasing being able to trade at the projected level.
And encourages hoarding and profiteering. And posting pics of empty shelves with galaxy brain takes of "this is whut socialisms am like!!1!" No, you morons, socialism literally put entire regions on lockdown and quarantined cities, while maintaining control over the media overall. Capitalism saw governments fear the impact on stocks resulting in belated actions and advice, whilst the media was free to say what they wanted - and what they said was a bunch of wild insanity, racism, downplaying, and something about a London bus on the moon. Which just drove everyone to crap themselves and run out of toilet paper.
Them commies (as in actual literal communists, not just socialists and far from social democrats) also managed to delay their response by several months because of their fear of losing control of them consensus and public order.
Official statement from CB: Good morning, From Corvus Belli we follow the health situation caused by the COV-19 very carefully. We have installed security measures, following all the recommendations of the official institutions, so that we can continue with our activity. Of course, due to the current circunstances some delivery times can suffer variations, so we ask for understanding at this historical moment that we are living. We think it is important to try the best we can, allowing our community to continue discovering Infinity CodeOne and to enjoy the hobby. This means that the pre-order continues as planned and we are sharing with you the scheduled content that we have prepared for the following week. We will keep direct communication with you to relay any changes or news that may occur. Thank you very much for the trust. https://www.facebook.com/InfinitythegameCB/
Sweet, love the new style of communication. Great to hear you guys have put measures in and are still going forward with the release and delivery! :)
Not much worse than some Western governments (BORIS) in hindsight. I'm not naming names (BORIS) but China's response, belated as it was, did allow for faster testing and temporary hospitals. They didn't think the best plan was to deliberately infect everyone to cause 'herd immunity' by taking advice from psychologists not epidemiologists. (BORIS) Certain other leaders might be accused of being slow with travel bans and entering a stable door horse bolted scenario but at least their first thought wasn't 'why contain it? Let it spill over into the schools and churches. Let the bodies pile up in the streets'....
look bro, it's not my fault. i've told people that using pure silver will kill this thing dead. anywho, guess it turns out that a glib attitude towards leadership and responsibility is worse than just* a bad haircut and really awful soundbites. still, i'll trade you.
Let's not forget wanting to call the emergency productivity of medical ventilators "Operation Last Gasp". I'm as big a proponent of gallows humour as much as the next brit, but there's a time and place.
We're certainly not seeing any gaming groups able to meet for 4-12 weeks depending on where we are, especially if we're in Europe.
I've noticed quite a few things rescheduled until August (UKGE, UK Satellite, GDC) it's probably just wishful thinking in the part of myself and the organisers considering the somewhat lacklustre responses from the US and UK governments, but I'd really like for Gen Con to go ahead on the first weekend of August. If it doesn't then I'm definitely ordering some of their merch, both to support them and also to claim I attended the "lost" Gen Con.
