Firefight opinion - Oss Vs Shasvastii

You can't do much against Speculos, except making sure that they won't cause too much damage. Try to limit his deployment options as much as possible, so he'll have to use a lot of orders on them to do anything. A list like that won't have too many of them to spend.

Expect to see Cadmus. It's awesome in its own right, and after bonuses to AD in this mission it'll be brutal.

Take as few specialists as possible. It'll be hard for your opponent to kill more of them. Focus on the killing instead of button pushing.

Dakini sniper is a better ARO unit than Samekh, thanks to Mimetism and better range bands.

Posthuman Proxies - as explained above, instead of specialists take combat Proxies.

And never leave home without a Sensor when playing against SEF.

I think I'd run something like this.

 

Against Speculos, I’d bring a Deva spitfire in a fireteam and have it over watch my key pieces (LT, TR bot, and engineer). The speculo won't be able to use smoke to get past the Deva and won’t be able to get more than one attack in before the Deva kills it. Hopefully, depending on your deployment, deployment zone, and luck.

I’d also advocate for mines and especially a mine layer. Mines won’t detonate for an impersonation marker, but they will make it likely for the one attack to be the only chance the impersonator has to score the kill.

Other than that, go first and commit much murder.

Also, something with sensor would be good so that you can clear out a speculo locked in CC with one of your guys without putting your mode at risk.

 

About speculos: If he goes first You can body block them with posthumans deployed as reserve. If you go first it is quite easy for a link or shukra to discover them (+3 for link and +3 for range ) and kill.

Unfortunately, no. Against Impersonation you need good deployment and overlapping FoV. And you could use an MSV2+, Speculo have smoke...

Sensor works great with Lamedhs; race them forward, deploy Sniffers, and a large part of midfield will be both revealed, and impossible for enemy to re-camo in.

 

I'd definetly go for a Spitfire Deva to counter smoke and camos. However it doesn't really replace the sensor's utility, so I'd be tempted to have both. Either double Devas in your link (but it ends up being quite expensive) or go for a Lamedh.

High order count against speculos can also play against you, as it makes it more complex to deploy safely. I don't know how significant it is, or if it is enough to even consider LI, but I might be tempted to go this route. I actually would even consider bringing a non-Lt Shukra, only to deal with them and secure your heavier guns to deal with the link.

As for the Sheeskin, I honnestly don't know. I'd consider using Dart, or a KHD Naga/Dasyu to deal with Victor and break the 5 man bonus, but it may be too expensive and unreliable. With Apsara J:LZ, you can get some nice shots on your Dakini Sniper with BS13 B2 D15 DA. If his link breaks before yours, odds would be with you on good rangebands. Alternatively you may want to get an HD or HD+ to get Marksmanship, and that would make taking a Rudra over Dart worth considering, but that would also mean having a specialist.

Make Sforza appear as an Asura HD+, safe from the speculos. Worst case scenario, opponent wastes a fair bunch of order. Best case scenario, holoecho isn't cancelled and your Dasyu is perfectly concealed, on top of the order expenditure.

With this list you don't have to worry about the speculokiller :P killing your Lt. Here, specially against Shasv, you have a lot of options. If you go first you could reduce the TO to CO for both TO, proxy and Dasyu, so he will never know (if even he imagine that one of the camos could be the Lt) who your Lt is, or let both in TO, probably most of people don't know a thing about the Dasyu Lt option. Here, you have a lot of troups with mines, soy don't be shy and do good use of that commands tokens and place some mines. If you go second you could even let your Lt in one spot with some LdT (in hidden deployment) and wait for the latest moment to reveil himself, so your opponent will waste his first turn trying to catch yoiur Lt.
