McMurrough is overturned and wulvers are solid, but they aren't as scary as something like a Hac Tao or linked MSV2 piece would be with the same order battery and smoke coverage.
Oh my Buddha! Oh my Buddha! Oh my Buddha! I'm so excited!!!! In a nice calm Zen way . And he has Tiger hook sword!!! Oh my Buddha! Oh my Buddha! Oh my Buddha! And Reclining Buddha base!!! Ok calm down..... Ohmmmm. So yes I'm excited no matter what. It just looks fantastic. The only nitpick I have is that the Tiger hook swords are traditionally in pairs. I don't care what his rules are. I'm getting that figure!!
Then we'll have to disagree, I'm sure, because by that logic they don't stand a chance to begin with because it's fully possible to emulate the experience more than adequately by what Yu Jing already have. I just don't see the generic argument as holding water. That said, I don't think it's the strongest units, even though I consider McMurrough to be a lot stronger an asset than a Hac Tao, is the defining issue with Inspiring Leadership (otherwise Pan-O with their TO TAGs and what have you would shoot through the roof), and no I don't buy the smoke arguments because they always hand-wave a lot of inherent balancing factors, but rather them getting cheap fuel for the dime-a-dozen skirmishers that are Ariadna's forte and the powerhouse of Infinity N3. Not to mention that it removes the balancing feature of some mercs *coughmonstertrucker*
I think the box is nice but in the end I can't justify more Zhanshis or another Daofei. I'll try to obtain new guys or I'll use some proxies in the end. Unless that freaking monk is a pre-order exclusive only miniature, then I'll be buying whole damn box.
He might actually be a Zhanying, after all... well in either case I think we can guess he's at least going to be ARM 2 BTS 3 off of the armour.
Can't second that. ZHÀNYING (Sensor) Breaker Combi Rifle, Nimbus Grenades, MadTraps / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0 | 28) 0 SWC | 28 Points He just does so many things: - Sensor sweep - Mad Traps for dz defense - SSL2 + Bioimmunity + Electric Pulse for surprising resilience and salty impersonators - Nimbus to support Hsien HMG - BS 12 Breaker Rifle for a decent and flexible offensive piece in a pinch - "Why yes, I will shoot that ODD unit 48" away in cover with Triangulated Fire on 9s, thank you very much" How dare you disrespect this man. He's a hero to the people.
Listen, it’s cute that you and all the others are trying to defend that unit, but except for being a fucking expensive tax unit to escort the Hsien, the unit has no reason to exist. The unit is actually one amongst the top contenders for worst units in the entire game, if it weren’t for the fact that the Pheasant Rank blows them out of the water in terms of being a horribly bloated and expensive unit. A Breaker and monofilament CCW are both, especially the later, very expensive and requires very purpose built units to make it worth it, otherwise it tends to hideously bloat, and therefore ruin, any unit who wields it or massively gimps them. Good examples are the Kanren, Hulang, Hawkwood and the Cube Jäger or even worse, Pheasant Rank and Crane Rank were literally unplayable before they got their stupid Monofilament CCW removed. Therefore it doesn’t bode well that he has the weapon if he’s actually going to hang out with Zhanshi’s and not a solo unit with infiltration (and seriously hoping for the later).
I wasn't comparing anything here. SSL2 does quite a lot against Boarding Shotgun attacks from Impersonators. No surprise shot and no free attack from outside LOF means your B 2 Shotgun has about 42-68% chance to put a wound through, depending on cover. Not the greatest odds, if you ask me. And you also have a decent chance of getting glued in place in the process. Kamau Sniper are niche AROs in your meta? What about other Fireteams? Also niche? It's not amazing, but it's a bonus. Sensor is good enough on its own and this is just a neat little something on top. 48" range opens up a lot of attack vectors to engage from outside LOF or at -6 rangeband for your enemy, especially against Skirmishers with Shotguns, SMGs and Tac Bows who rely on marker state and vis mods defensively. As for Adil, I'm not saying he will be amazing if he's a Zhanying with a Mono CCW - that sounds pretty terrible, I agree. My point was just to show that the Zhanying is not as bad as you made them out to be. They are not an optimized unit by a long shot, but their weird combination of skills has a very distinct place and does provide a lot in the right environment. I probably wouldn't bring one without a Hsien, for example.
