A few words about the venue:

Hotel all inclusive: SPA, bar, awesome buffet
    Palm trees
5 hour break between rounds 2 and 3 for our complete decomposition

I would be glad to attend such an event again, but they say that the satellites will no longer be here, since it is very difficult to bring terrain from all over Spain to the island.

    Missions:

    Power Pack
    Transmission Matrix
Custom(steal civilian from the center and civevac her at the end of rounds and game + 2 classifies)
    Unmasking
    Decapitation

    The first day:

    Power Pack versus Latxupa

The first game of the tournament. I made a couple of mistakes and the opponent did not speak English almost at all, but he was an infinitely amiable Spanish grandfather, and it turned out to be one of the smoothest and quietest games of the tournament.

I create a list from memory - I'm not sure about SpecOps.

Latxupa won initiative and decided to go first.

Druze fireteam walked to center. Shot my sniper. Dayokai shot TechBee and stood in suppression near right button.
On my turn, Naga-KHD wounded Druze-AHD, Dart wounded everyone except Tanko, but ended in NWI.

On the second turn opponent killed Dart, healed almost everybody in the fireteam and his engineer pushed central button.
Then Naga-FO pushed right and central buttons, placed mines and killed engineer, but suddenly found ninja near opponent’s console. On the left Naga-KHD lose 3 ftf rolls to Druze-AHD and did nothing useful.

On the third turn, Tanko tried to kill Naga-KHD with shotgun, but it placed mines around and stood in dogged. Druze-specialist and SpecOps killed themselfes with mines, but pushed left and right buttons. Ninja failed to kill Naga in center and died too.
My akalis succesfully walked from inbetween opponent deployments to console, but stopped about couple of millimeters away from Secure HVT. Naga-FO tried to reach left button, but failed.

In the end opponent has 2 pushed buttons and 1 classified(healing) and I have 1 button, 1 classified(WIP with elite akalis on the enemy half of the table) + console controlling.

Opponent won WIP roll and took deployment(and I think mine still was better). I decided to go first and inflict maximum damage with Peacemaker and Dart because it would be easy to reach opponent in narrow spaces between containers.

First turn. Bagh-mari-HMG killed enemy Trbot. Dart walked to center, discovered and killed enemy Naga-KHD. Then my Naga killed enemy SpecOps-HD-engineer, who could stopped Peacemaker. Dart returned to the left corridor and stopped in suppression right in front of enemy camo(enemy Dart).
Peacemaker moved forward and killed Phoenix with shotgun through Netrod, Lamp-bot, Servant and wounded Proxy4, but was killed by his nanopulser.

Then Proxy4 did Coup de Grace classified, but died trying to kill my sniper. Opponent’s Dart failed ftf versus mine Dart and died. Proxy2-AHD killed my Naga with shotgun, but died from my other AROs.

The central and right enemy areas controlled by nobody, so I had more.

On my second turn, I just moved fireteam into the center and killed HVT with my regular-datatracker. Scylla moved to enemy left area.

The only attacker opponent had was Proxy5-datatracker, who critdodged while running between containers and headed towards tower to kill my HVT from above. But it was shot by Guarda who wasn’t activated during the whole game.

Guarda moved forward, but got 2 wounds from Proxy2-sniper DA shot. His bot failed to smoke around civilian. Doctor was too far so thrown medkit killed guarda. Haha, classic.
Bagh-mari-sniper spent 3 orders moving across roof and shooting Proxy2, but she got only 1 wound and retaliated. Naga-FO came to the center and placed a mine. Naga-KHD mined wall to prevent Proxy5 coming.

Fearless Proxy2 shot my sniper with it’s first order, but then was critted by Bagh-HMG and died. Opponent’s Dart came closer. Proxy5 can’t walk through my Naga-KHD and minefield.
Dakini fireteam finally killed my sniper, lamp-bot and wounded Bagh-HMG.

My second turn: Naga-FO synchronised civilian and hid near fireteam behind damaged lamp-bot. Healed fireteam and placed more mines.

Enemy Naga-minelayer runs on the flank, miraculously wins ftf against another lamp-bot and still kills my synchronized Naga through the corpse of the first lamp.

The last turn: Dart climbed down and tried to kill enemy Naga, but only made her turn around. But now paramedic-regular goes to her back and finishes her off, then synchronizes HVT and hids behind fireteam. Placed even more mines. 9 in total on the field.
Elite akalis just appeared on enemy half of the game table, but failed to succeed WIP roll for classified objective.

Enemy fireteam moved towards the center, but Dakini-HMG was critted by akalis’s E/Mitter. Combirifles finished the paratrooper. Lamp-bot collected central mines. Shakti spent 1 wound and every but one order to kill my HMG and reach wall near my paramedic. She decided to shot him with pistol rather than use E/Marat, but was critted with combirifle.
    Opponent’s Dart secured HVT.

    I won initiaive. Went first.

Opponent placed Speculo-minelayer near my deployment. Techbee discovered and shot the impersonator with pistol. Guarda’s bot unloaded the mine. Then Guarda tried to kill enemy Trbot, but got 2 crits and lay down to rest.
Naga-KHD pushed right button and hid near real target. Techbee pushed central button, and appeared Noctifier-missile missed. I found real target.

Opponent’s turn: Taighas lost 2 of them trying to dodge sniper shots, but 2 other secured path near left button. Malignos-KHD pressed left button and hid in the central wall, but found only a decoy. Sheskin fireteam walked across table, critted my sniper from 3 distance and killed lamp-bot. On the last order Noctifier tried to shot my HMG left in 4 man team, but was critted and died too.

Scylla-datatracker came to the left button behind wall, burned malignos, both Taighas, TRbot and shot HVT. Naga-KHD put mines near enemy fireteam and kindly asked Noxs to shoot back (or dodge) and explode or do nothing and die under combirifle fire. Noxs decided to dodge, but 3 of them and decoy died. Bagh-HMG killed Sheskin left alone in the field.

Second opponent’s turn: the last nox tried to reach central button, but was killed by Techbee. Caliban-ChoC ran along the wall and killed my decoy, but was killed by mine.

Then we decided to finish here.

    10-0

I won the initiative - I went first. (A rare case when I won the initiative more than once in a tournament. Moreover, more than two.)

Only at the end of the deployment, opponent remembered about a possible Peacemaker, for which he paid - with the first order Peacemaker's auxbot burned Netrod, and at the same time standing next to him camos: Naga completely and Dart to NWI, who decided to do nothing, because opponent forgot that only impersonators should not be touched with templates. Peacemaker himself was torn apart by Dakinis.

My Dart climbed wall to the roof of the enemy lieuteunant’s hideout. Opponent’s wounded Dart decided to discover mine and was shot with SMG. Then my Dart recamouflaged and continued her moving. Proxy2 appeared next to Dakini-HMG and forced Dart to slow down. She lay down, shot shot dakini-HMG, Proxy2 and received a wound because of nanopulser. Then decided to run towards enemy Lt., but was killed and Shukra saved all 3 hits.
Scylla put on cybermask and took position in the center covering corridors with flamers.

Opponent repaired Dakini-HMG, recreated fireteam and moved across the roof to the central ladder. Killed 2 lamp-bots, Bagh-sniper and Techbee. Then moved Dakini-combi near roof’s edge and tried to shot devabot. Killed it but burned out. Proxy5 came closer to protect the ladder.

Second round: second devabot moved in and burned Dakini-sniper and CSU. (While writing, I realized that this was wrong fireteam. You can’t have both deva and CSU in Dakinis fireteam at the same time, but who cares now).(Edited: kind men in "Rules" forum found clarification. You can have Dakinis, Devas and CSU in this fireteam at the same time.)Guarda-datatracker killed HVT, Proxy5 and moved upstairs. Killed Dakini-HMG, but lost auxbot trying to shot Deva-ODD.

Opponent had only 5 orders. Deva-specops hitted Guarda twice, but burned out. Guarda seved. Then all remaining units including Lt. moved closer to protect ladder.

Guarda burned everybody, but they missed or Guarda saved.

*the only game in which the activation of Guarda did not lead him to death on the first or second order of his existence. This unit in my hands only plays in 2 states - absolute uselessness or killer machine.

    10-0

As a result, took 5th place.

And our Team Russia took the overall first place thanks to @EXEqT0R in 3rd place, me in 5, @Ktulhuist09 in 16 and @GloriousEND in 2.

Thanks to everyone for the games and to organizers for the event. It was interesting to play with foreigners (and not see a single old face, finally).
Brief conclusions on the sectorial: mines. Many mines. The best pano specialists - Nagas. The best attacking unit - Dart, but Scylla is also excellent.

Good result. I love that Shock Army. There are some very dense tables there too! That seems like a good environment for Dart and g:synch units

Anything you would have done differently in your games?

Anything you would have changed in your lists?

    Thank you.

    Big mistakes I can remember:
In the first game I shot druzes with AP rounds for some reason instead of shock. Then in the end decided to walk near them(and they have viral pistols) instead of recamouflaging and trying to press right button in front of Dayokai in suppression(only one attempt, but still something).
And this couple of mm away from Securing HVT(in inches, I would have reached it, lol)

In the third game I hid naga behind lamp-bot, not inside fireteam behind mines - but I was afraid of enemy Dart and enemy naga was lucky reaching mine, so maybe I did everything I could.

No, I don't think so. I had many attacking units, good specialists and heavy first turn assault and at the same time strong defence behind 3 minelayers, jammer, 4 lamps and fireteam with camos in midfield.

Excellent report! The pictures add a lot and make it much easier to follow than otherwise would be the case. Well done!

It’s good to see the Guarda make it into some lists. He’s always a tough sell for me in an army that always seems to be swc starved. I also like the use of the peacemaker, which I think does a lot for PanO’s love of staying back in the deployment zone.

I don't think, that SAoA is swc starved(except regular FO). It was tempting to take tikbalang, but I ended taking Guarda on this heavy attacking spot, because I couldn't find 100 points(tik+engi) without loosing Naga or something else useful especially for those missions. And plan to smoke in custom mission was at least something...but, as I said, Guarda in my hands can be only in 2 states.

I mean, they’re not NCA of course. Still, an army that relies on HMGs and MSRs to accomplish goals is going to be in a tough spot though as far as swc is concerned.

2 swc for a spitfire is significant. The fact that the regular hacker (I know it has awesome stuff) is 1 swc is also noticeable.

I’m not saying it can’t be done, and I do love the Tikbalang. I just tend to want a little bit more redundancy with my big guns than a single, 1 wound HMG. While I love spitfires, they can be outmaneuvered a little more easily than HMGs. Although the eclipse can help with that, certainly.

In our meta hacker without camo is deadweight because of KHDs and peacemaker in the middle. Bagh-Mari is not a single 1wound HMG, but with mimetism and MSV1. Still, I understand this "problem", but in acontecimento you can win just without offencive swc weaponry. Peacemaker, 2 Nagas and Dart easily kill opponent's heavy weapons, cheerleaders, press buttons and cover corridors.

    One of the strongest armies.

Before mixed links, I had a lot of ITS success using mostly Combi Rifles. I used to run 1 or 2 Sapper Snipers, maybe a solo Bagh Mari HMG (unlinked), Bulleteer, and Minelayers as my SWC choices.

That was a very interesting time, since you still had okay firepower, but it wasn't great. You had to rely heavily on Combi Rifles.

Now, Shock Army has amazing firepower. Two Bagh Mari, Bulleteer, Dart, etc. are all very easy to fit into a list, and are so dangerous in the active turn.

On a different topic: I love that Tikbalang. I use it much more than the Guarda, but I have tended to have bad luck with the Guarda also. I agree with yoink101 that the 2 SWC feels like a lot.

What I really don't quite like about the Guarda is the fact that he's essentially a very expensive Orc (with HFT, D-Charges and Multiterrain) that you take to get the Auxbot. Because that's what you take a GDA for, to roll 6 dice per Order or get a free attempt to lay down Eclipse while lighting up some poor idiot.

The GDA itself isn't really high "performance" if you can't keep the Auxbot alive long enough to get close and tell the tale. All of his kit is sidegrade utility (HFT, D-Charges, Multiterrain). G:Sync is a superb skill, but it's hard to keep the benefits for long with how squishy REMs are. He is at that weird grey area of efficiency where you can't quite warrant using a whole Combat group's Orders on him, but probably want him to share with a Linked HMG/MSR to clear ARO pieces and then invest in him while the 2nd group is going to focus on fuelling something like Dart or Nagas to support Group1.

Shelling out for a Tik gives you massively increased threat range, threat vectors, survivability and a built in emergency Specialist. As well as an 11 Orders Combat group you can invest pretty reliably into that Tik alone.

The GDA can be quite nice for missions, however in between with the Auxbot dying to stray Rifle shots or template hits and straight up missing the Eclipse Smoke he just doesn't do it very reliable.
I do think the general concept of G:Sync troops has a lot of room to expand on though. Would love to keep him for N4 with a revised point formula and the edition's tweaks, or even to just convert him into a "Snake Eater" equivalent SAA exclusive Orc Profile.

Great writeup! Nice tables... but one general question to everyone:
Aren't these tables a bit too dense?

Looks like they produced good and interesting games, so... probably not, no.

Density isn't necessarily a useful metric, though. You can have a table that has dense terrain coverage but still has play for longer weapon ranges (due to elevation differences or long fire lanes through the denser elements), or sparser tables that block too much LOF (usually via long thin terrain pieces locking parts of the board off from each other). Looking closely at the tables above I'd say a most are a good mix, but the table for the final round is about the high water mark for density given limited elevation variance.

too dense ? for me it's ideal table setup

and stupid question, why your second list doesn't have a warcor with your 3 pts left ?
It was a limited window list ?

1 table: very high buildings give long range shots, but at the same time reduce LoF to corridors, so you can't see the whole table.
2 table: dense terrain, yes, but at the same time you almost don't have places to deploy your models.
3 and 4 tables: very wide free areas with small corridors on sides.
5 table: Quintessence of density on my half of the table and free ground with second floor level on the enemy's half of the table.

Kinda like that to my opinion. I was lucky to play on such good tables instead of some really open and almost unplayable(to my opinion):

    Yes, tactical window.
But a strange question: if we played without limits, then there should be about 18 orders in lists because it's unnecessary to lose so many orders and take guarda and scylla and more heavy attacking options at the same time.

    Like this:

the second list is very similar to what i play but I prefer having 10 orders on the TAG
have you tried an EVO with those 3 fugazi ? giving them B2 is very powerful to tank the first turn if you go second

Akalis is good, but even with 15 PH you will still fail 25% of jumps, so I never use it that way anyway.
Peacemaker don't need such improvements so as bulleteer.

Improving lamps is great, but it's too greedy to use ~16pts lamps(with EVO) in total. And EVO could(and will) be easily killed by any camo-KHD.
I tried, but I prefer to take additional naga or something else. 25 points is too much for me.

I prefer 1 more order for peacemaker and Dart(and smart opponents still always reduce orders from that group)

you only need to see your own photo to see that there is not a single deva, only spec-ops and a csu ,but who cares.

As far as I know, the only Spec-Ops in OSS is Deva...and it counts as Deva (because it is exactly Deva's option like deva-Lt., deva-spitfire, deva-SpecOps, deva-FO etc.)

UPD: ok, in our community we have different opinions. Will make thread in Rules sub-forum.
UPD2: I apologize, I was wrong. Kind men in "Rules" forum found clarification. You can have Dakinis, Devas and CSU in this fireteam at the same time.
But this still not written in the wiki, we have only IJW clarification.
