Don't know what's worse, this or no CC weapon for CC specialists. I'm looking at you, limited edition Saito. And you, half of the Makaul box. And you, Neema Satar Spitfire.
Hundun visor seems.. neat. Never saw such a head before. Its waaay too clear, almost brawler looking gear
Surely even in the current ruleset the sword makes more sense vs things like clipsos, foxtrots and coc men when you factor in -6-9 on return fire. I've definitely sworded things with a Hac Tao in N3.
Hundun's leg up left-handed sniper pose is probably the worst thing in the box. Plus it's another sniper to go with the ninja. I like her design otherwise.
Maaaybe its not the Mandarine Chaos, it might be Four Wrongs from Asian myth. Y'know, Hundun, creature without any facial features, only face. Carving down facial features kills that monster.
I wonder if they will withdraw that box of Zhanshi Special weapons and Ogryns, then redo it with jackets and consistent scale. None of the things in this box look like they cross link with Zhanshis after all, so we might actually have a grudging use for Zhanshi missile/HMG.
They may keep the current Zhanshi weapons, but I guess MORE ORCS ORCS ARE THE ANSWER THE TIME FOR ORCS IS NOW KNOCK KNOCK WHO'S THERE ORCS might be their plan...
The more I know about this box the more I am not hyped. As usuall the models are great despite some usual poses. I have most of the Yu Jing models. Im missing the Bao and the melee crane if I recall. This will be exciting for new players for sure. Unless the sectorial needes a 3rd Guilang or something like that this is a pass for me. I pray the beyond box will have units I can get some milage out off..
Guilang had better be at least AVA4 or we riot. Even with 4 I would be hard pressed to include a sniper or a shotgun in a list. Guilang FO and Guilang minelayer are really so much better.
The jujk weapon options seem wrong. They look like the hundun The miniature suggests a flamer or something else
The armour for the Jujak looks like the same frame as the Haidao, Lui Xing, and Zhencha, but with extra insulation and armour. I'm assuming this means he'll be 1W/NWI. The cylinder on his back is pretty interesting, however. Hopefully it alludes to some interesting functionality on the table. The equipment in the dossier has me worried that he might just be another baseline heavy infantry type unit. Considering CB's SKU glut causing more and more problems, and YJ's abundance of basic HI already, to the point where it's already causing problems, it would be awful if this were the case.
I start to believe in the SKU story once CB releases boxes with actual useful models instead of releasing the useful profiles as single blisters afterwards. (all from a N3 perspective of course) Single blisters released which have an SKU slot: Daoying Hacker Haidao KHD Zhensha SMG (AHD released first, used as proxy for 1 year) Tai Sheng (wrong weapon, but for the Tinbot) Profiles I use from boxes: IA starter: the Combi Rifle Zuyong (5 waisted SKU slots) RedVeil: Hsien HMG, Ninja KHD (5 waisted SKU slots) Beyond RedVeil: Zhanying Breaker (for the MadTraps profile) (2 waisted SKU slots) As for Kaldstrom, the Guilang BSG is imho the best sculpt of the whole box, but a N3 profile that will never see the table.
BSG is a 0 SWC link team buster. It's definitely worth using, remember not every mission actually gives a shit about having alot of specialists, or even any of them. The MSR value depends on your meta. Got some forest/jungle tables? That thing becomes extremely useful. MSV1 counters the low vis, and it doesn't suffer from the burst reduction as a standalone ARO option.
It was already mentioned in our local group that the look of the cloak is not typical and reminds a bit Shas (and makes the whole figurine to look a bit like a mantis), so who knows, if half this little clan are for long not humans any more, but Speculo Impersonators indeed? :-D
Daoying actually makes a lot of sense - the hacker profile is valuable for vanilla and IA alike, so vanilla players only need to buy a blister instead of a box of units they probably won't find much use for. Guilang BSG may actually find use in a AVA3 environment - with 2 specialists and 1 shotgun for hunting
It's also going to be interesting to see if things change a bit in terms of price balance. It could be that BSG drops slightly in price which could do all sorts of things with our perception of the unit, plus Guilang isn't exactly the most recent unit so we might see some minor changes to them
