Still, the presence of Rogue Ninja clans could mean we could expect more Loyal and Loyal Ninjas for the scene. I remember there were three grand clans with their exclusive skills.. Kosetsu Clan (Dunno what they do. Oniwaban?) Onishi Clan (Togan) Fukurou Clan (Shikami) In Uprising, there were also three Imperial clans who stayed in YJ deals IIRC Miyoshi Clan Kurogawa Clan Takemura Clan, which are now present So many spaces, so many expectations! Also, nice one having ninja boi at exclusive pre-order.. people will buy it frantically. lol
If this really is the line up. I will be disapointed. X3 Zhanshi x1 Guilang x1 Daofei *sigh. There is to much model redundamcy in this box for players who own Yu Jing already. It will be great for new players though.
I could I always use more (modern) Guilang scuplts, and if WB gives the Daofei at AVA2, I'll definitely find a way to make use of a second one. Zhanshis are pretty disappointing. I can't even be bothered to paint or use the ones I have.
Yeah, Fukuro is hitech so Shikami, Oniwaban are all JSA clans but kosetsu are more into covert, onshi use proxies and mercs more. Kurokawa is good at silent assassination, Miyoshi seem to be hackers, and Takemura are of course
So they are bald, using an edgy rifle for remote assassination.. Hey is that you Jetthro with latex suit
So my take on this is to be highly expectant that most of kaldstrom is repackaging existing sculpts. Remember they're retiring the RV box and with Kaldstrom as a core infinity start item for Yu Jing I think it's likely that RV and the old YJ starter box get retired and the sculpts get farmed out to other places or retired. The Daofei HMG and the Guilang from B:RV need a new home, they're probably just getting repackaged with the Zhanshi into Kaldstrom.
They don't always make the art entirely according to contents. The Red Veil Tiger for instance doesn't have anything resembling an actual Tiger helmet - hacking visor or otherwise - so I'm not going to read that much into the box art. However, if the contents is 65% recycled from Red Veil, then it's going to require some damned fur coats on them Zhanshis...
Let's not forget Code One is supposed to be aimed at new players. I'd love for all of them to be new sculpts, but there is a world where they are just the same Red Veil units (and the new dudes). My gut feeling tells me that it's not like that and we are getting cool new things, but we've all been hurt before (?)
If we're being optimistic the Zhanshi kinda count as old sculpts as they're all the wrong scale, maybe the old sculpts are being retired and we are getting newer zhanshi the same size as the SWC box.
Why would Code One make any restrictions what-so-ever on the contents of these boxes? Yes, it's going to be what they think will be core units for the factions, but that's *it*. Want to stick an Impersonator in there, even though Impersonation isn't part of Code One? No problem. Unit won't have Impersonation in Code One, instead it'll have Camo. That's a data entry and play testing issue, not modelling or selection. And no, we haven't been hurt that way before, where they dump mostly old sculpts in a large flagship multi-pack and call it a new product.
I think the last time we got old sculpts in a "new" box was the Neoterra starter, which had brand new Bolts and older Swiss, Aquila, and Hexa. They did do a limited splash release of the Bolts by themselves though. There's the Santiago Knights box too, which was a repacking of two existing models, plus alternate arms for each, but again the new ones had a limited separate release for people that already had the two blisters (like me) And Servant bots, I guess they get reused.
