There is an acceptable ammount i agree. That ammount is what the rules make legal, building social constructs to limit what you personally see as an issue is a no thanks from me.
As per the written Infinity rules, there's no maximum number of models in an army outside of what AVA and points costs limit you to for a given army. The online builder currently caps you at 4 combat groups, which makes it difficult to submit lists for validation, but that's not actually a game rule. If a tournament uses Tactical Window or Limited Insertion, those are game rules, however. So the options for maximum game size are effectively 10, 15, or 40 models. The jump from 15 to 40 is pretty big, and I don't think it's unreasonable to want to talk about where exactly the threshold is for a "reasonable" force.
This list is legal. It could even be larger with another 8 Gakis, but Infinity Army limits out at 4 groups. 40 base orders so far, plus 32 impetuous orders. It's game-breaking, and it's legal. This would be a massive dickmove, and "it's inside the rules, bruh" is not a sufficient reason to let someone play this in a tourney. It would break down every single match it would be played in. Yes, Hungries are a corner case. But also in that corner are CHA hordes, and even hordes that other factions can field. 30 orders (for you to play and your opponent to have to ARO against) is not cool if you have to play inside 2 hours. You are literally doubling the typical number of actions taken by a force, and even if you play fast you're screwing your opponent. Ignore previous post... That list still doesn’t really bother me. Yeah, first turn is going to be annoying as hell. But the ARO’s will be brutal and every model you kill you strip two orders. And if you kill it on the impetuous you don’t get to use the irregular. That list will never win a single match in a tournament so the chances of someone using it are almost zero. One infiltrating grunt with a HF could kill almost half that list turn one in ARO, let alone all the ARO kills he’d agro.
That list isn't remotely game-breaking. I can't actually imagine losing to it under any circumstance, if I'm being honest (maybe on a table we have locally that we call the 'bug hunt' table but probably not even then unless I deploy first and go second and don't know it's coming). It's a great meme, but it's a terrible example of how you might 'break' the game. At least put some daturazi in there to give the list a snowflake's chance in hell of actually closing the gap to do any damage. ...and while you're at it, put in some ranged firepower to suppress the enemy overwatch elements that might contest the horde. Better add a midfield specialist or two so you can also do button objectives so you don't lose that way. Maybe add an ARO element of your own. Oh wait, now it's a spammy but normal list that's quite good and not markedly different from things we already see in the game.
Update: man I kind of want to play against that list now. I wonder I can convince a local to play it.
Apparently there's a computer program you can get from steam that allows you to simulate games of infinity, even lets you copy/paste the gakis ;)
thats a great way to lose, to anything that has even a minor ARO presence or anything in a scoring mission that is able to ignore the chaff and kill the handful of models that can push a button. probably super easy to do bouncing templates off the spam
proxy bases? fuck if one of your guys wants to try it count me in, Id love to run into it with CHA and See how many I can slaughter with gals
Hell even if we are talking time alone, 1) odds are 2/3rfs of the list is dead by turn 2. And 2) its nothing but irreg orders. With 4 command tokens theres isnt much in the way of decision making other than "which model hopes it doesnt die or move 16 next?"
It's not your list. It's you! It's not their list. It's you! I'm sure you could still win with this list, champ :)
On that topic: I bought a copy of TTS in the last steam sale. I need to talk someone into showing me how to use it.
Have you got a decent mic? Join my discord and hit me up tonight at around about 7:30-8pm East coast australia time and we can go through it. I should be home then, will be after 9:30pm my time then. Or failling that, Wednesday
I'm busy wednesday but I think I can swing this evening. Failing that I'll jump onto the discord and hop on to spectate next time someone is playing, if that's something TTS supports.
Yeah it certainly is. There's also this YT video if you haven't already seen it, although it's an older one and there's some more recent things that you need to know;
Can you make a thread as a tutorial to this? I have had the TTS and I donuts mod for years but don’t know anyone else that uses it and I don’t really have any idea myself.
