Right now I am starting with the game. And the obvious first option is to made a board to play. So far I have made six 60*30cms boards. Base is 5mm MDF, with a second level raised over 5 cm wood. Roads are sandpaper. Paiting with a Neutral Grey spray, with drybrushed white and weathering with Sienna Brown. In the sides, everything I had in the dush bin (pieces of fruit cages, coffee stirrers, pvc pipes, pieces of wood from a wine case). They are modular and stockable, so far.
Looking great! I am interested in what you used for the top layer, the sidewalks and such. What material is that? Painted MDF? Where did you get it cut like that?
Actually the top layer is just 5mm MDF painted, sprayed with Neutral Grey and painted the squares with a pemanent black marked and white drybrushed. For the darked ones I put some blue ink. The sidewalks are just 3mm foamboard, marked with a ball pen and painted.
I'm starting too to create my table, I'm doing it modular with 16 tiles 1x1" . Did you primed directly with grey directly on mdf or you applied something on it first?
I spray directly with Neutral gray Amsterdan spray. So far it is working. Pilot permanent ink marker for the lines. White paint dry brushed in the middle of each tile. In the central ones I did not use white paint, but Drakenhof nightshade.
Those look amazing, Enough detail to add character, but not too busy. Also they look like a storage nightmare.
The board looks gorgeous, and the idea of raised areas is quite interesting. If you want to add some more cheap detail to the sides, take apart any old electronic device you have at hand and use the chips to make electrical boxes and so. Also, you can use electrical wire to add some hanging cables attached to wall... for structural beams, you can purchase in Leroy-Merlin a U-shaped PVC profile.
Great minds think the same. I have also added details from this mould from Green Stuff World. Enviado desde mi SM-A405FN mediante Tapatalk
Since we are enclosed here in Spain (still working, notwithstanding), I have found time to give a push to the project. Enviado desde mi SM-A405FN mediante Tapatalk
