Certainly an HMG magazine, the contrast is a bit bobbins on my phone screen so can't see the end of the barrel. Could just be a battlefield pickup though, I wouldn't read too much into it yet.

It's absolutely not a combi or spitfire, the Yu Jing versions of those are sufficiently different, particularly the Spitfire's drum magazine. You're correct we shouldn't read too much into it, though I'd say it would be an odd choice to let them produce one with an HMG if they weren't available to Shang-Ji in game, especially since if the current Combi+LFL is very... evocative...
Even Shang got HMG (that means finally he enters the 'elite gunman' range), I doubt it can compete with Zuyong TAHMG. If he keeps his Lft, now that would be sth :p
Well... that HMG doesn't have it and unlike with Hac Tao, the DTW is an attachment on Shang-Ji currently.
Total speculation, but... Given that CB maintains pretty tight control over partners who use their imagery, I'd be surprised if that HMG is accidental.
If this is indeed the redesigned Shang-Ji for N3/4, I couldn't be more pleased. Now they just need to not give it a ridiculous pose and we're good. Kaldstrom is not too far away ...
This should be in some IA thread, I know but: getting a wildcard HI trooper with HMG would make a Haidao MSR + 4 Zhanshi + Shang Ji HMG an amazing "Core" Fireteam (you would swap the fat bois for active and reactive turns).
CB already has a CAD asset for a HMG plus flamethrower from the two guijias, so if they wanted to they could have.
I meant it as in a "Haidao is probably going to die sooner or later while AROing so pick up the Shang Ji in your next active turn" kind of way.
If anything, I would run a Haidao MSR and separate Haidao KHD for the swap. Still, at 37 points, I'd be hesitant to treat my Haidao like a suicide piece. He's strong enough in his role that I feel he should be played with every intent of surviving the game, both in vanilla and IA.
I’m totally loving this Shang Ji! Now THIS looks Yu Jing to me! Zuyong are pretty good but something about the Shang Ji always seemed more on theme. It almost has a reptilian Dragon feel to me. Old and new. If they Shang Ji is in WB I can see it also being a Wildcard here and able to be with Zhanshi. Hopefully more than one.
Yes, the carry-handle thing at the muzzle is unique to the YJ HMG. And I'm not sure that's a really good idea, as now the Shang Ji is competing against the TacWare Zuyong. Not a good change. Exactly. It's why I wished that the Shang Ji got shifted more towards the Crane profile's stats. MA is arguable, but Kinematica L2 definitely and arguably sensor. The armor looks the same, just that the Crane has a coat. Though honestly, what I really want now is the Shangawira: Give the Shang Ji the stats of the Asawira.
