Even back in N2 when Shangers was a popular pick there was never really demand for more than one or two sculpts, a whole box would be overkill as you'd never use that many in a list. It actually makes more sense that they've not released a new sculpt before if they've been waiting for Javiers's new boutique line to get going. I don't think this is necessarily indicative of Shangers being in White Banner, and more just coincidental timing between projects.
Not even remotely close. Bust (Spitfire): February 2017 Tiger (Hacker, the latest Tiger): June 2016 However, I do think that there might be a reason for CB not to allow a third party to release a copy of their intellectual property prior to them releasing the original model. Still, any day now we'll get another teaser from them, it'll be interesting to see what model from Nomads and Pan-O they'll be releasing as busts.
And what do you think about brand new TO camo 1W trooper. Since ninja are mostly gone, it is certain that HQ developed some other TO projects considering they have the tech to do it. It would have to be well thought to not overlap with guilang. Maybe downgraded deployment (FD lvl2 or lvl1 if MI) with more defensive disruption capabilites than guilang. Throw in e/m mines, granade launchers, drop bears and AP marksman rifles. It can also be an ODD units similar to locust but of course with YJ twist to it like being overcosted with cc bloat... Oh shit locust has that too. Damn PanO. Always stealing from us.
The more units get added the less overt and interesting faction differences are. I don't want Yu Jing croc men even if they are good.
But croc men are your typical TO camo skirmisher that is nearly the same for every faction and ninja being probably the most unique. I am a fan of adding more sectorial only units (not mercs) or more likely unique loadouts. This rapid expansion of sectorials killed what remained of vanilla character. Maybe N4 would address this. With White Banner and svalarheima being released there are only a few units left without any sectorial home. Mostly EI aspects because I'm not counting tohaa as vanilla. So there is a chance of reworking this growing vanilla/sectorial identity problem. Back to the unit. I wasn't thinking about another boring spektr. More like ODD/TO forward deploying frontoviks or hecklers with more destructive potential with price being somewhere around 35pts.
There is a loyalist Ninja clan that specialises on really long range assassinations (this is not the only loyalist clan, but it stands out because of widely divergent tactics), so it is a possibility that N4 will see a divergence between loyalist and secessionist Ninja profiles. Personally, I'm hoping more for a close range Ninja rather than a long range or a melee Ninja. So, a bit more like across between a Razor and a Zhencha than a Crocman.
The Takemura clan, which like all loyalists are based in Kuramori rather than moving somewhere nice. Kind of strange being Ninjas hidden in the rubble.... Still, good sightlines since all the LOF blocking terrain is much flatter now.
I like the idea of a skirmisher with a disrupting táctica. We need that kind of trikeries to del with Jotum. That kind of dirty war units and tactics with a mongolian look XD *tactics not táctica (stupid telephone)
After listening to this video I'm not sure we will be getting the "White Banner". It seems like they will just be putting "vanilla" units in the box. Edit: Okay later in the video he said Yu Jing was getting a new sectorial that has to do with the box set.
That is the way the Battle boxes have always been. Cold Storm is vanilla but all the models are also TAK and OSS
Technically, if the whole box is for White Banner, it’s also for Vanilla. They said the Haqq for Red Veil was coincidentally also RAF but it was meant as a Vanilla Haqq box set. I think there might be a troop that can be both in WB and IA (Shang Ji).
In the Las Vegas video he specifically named the box as being Svalarheima vs White Banner. And we also know that the older two-player boxes will be split into their starter components, so there will exist a vanilla starter that is not "also a sectorial"
If they're keeping the existing "Vanilla" PanO and YJ starters or does make me wonder what the cheerleaders will be in Kaldstrom. Will both Sval and WB see new Frontovik/Kamau/Wildcat/Bolt/Grenzer style "elite line troopers" to fill the order monkey slot?
Bolt and Wildcats don't really fit that mold because they're entirely independent Fireteams, whereas Kamau/Grenzers/Frontoviks are 'mixed in'. I think it's more likely that we'll see the later. Kinda of veteran Zanshi who've been on the planet for longer adding a backbone to Zanshi squads. If so, something like the VIRD starter is likely.
