Rather underwhelming really. Could have been worse, but could have been a lot better. Quinn OTOH seems fairly useful as a cheap Fusilier team boost. Him, Bipandra, a couple of Orcs, token regular fusilier. Doctor, FO, heavy weapons and armour, and something to frustrate Camo in his MSV. Kinda makes it a bit more disappointing.
I had high hopes that were absolutely unreasonable. It's weird they'd make a profile that competes so directly with one of the few useful Grenzer profiles. That said, she's not useless and I can see her in an aggressive securitate core which is something I've been considering. While she's expensive for a specialist, that sensor auto discovering will be nice on a 4-4, Veteran platform.
Triangulated Breaker fire is also an interesting twist. The Grenzer gets BS13, MSV1, more ARM, and a better DTW though. Maybe she'll make more sense in N4.
At the moment, she seems dissapointing to me. Didn't expect much because CB is not working on TJC (or even nomads) the same way as with other factions, but she brings not much. Maybe her playstyle is fun in table, but until I try her on the table, she will seem just plain. did you spect otherwise? not anymore, I also had that though
Hm... never mind that, you are right, you don't need it. I was sure you need Sensor AND FO for that. I've mistaken it with Sat-Lock
You only need Sensor. It's more that Triangulated Fire and X-Visor are redundant. And at BS12 no vis mods she's not a great platform to do that from in the first instance: there's very few targets who she can take reliably with Triangulated Fire that she couldn't take with just a regular BS Attack.
Triangulated Fire is cool I guess, but an entire order skill for an aggressive fireteam is tough. Don’t know how I feel about the X-visor, seems meh? Doesn’t work with Triangulated Fire, and I don’t understand the niche she fills in the link. TJC has some secondary shooters in Aggro links in the forms of the Grenzer FO and Perseus. They also have a kit that actually helps them win fights a lot better than a X-Visor. I just love how she comes in a DF box against someone who seems pretty optimized, and she has awkward “utility” bloat everywhere.
As a friend pointed out one of the unique things she brings to a securitate fire team is the chain colt. It's seems small, but that is a welcome addition to a core with no DTW. Though the Grenzer brought that too. Triangulated fire can be good, but the x-visor is redundant there and still seems to cost too much. I would have been happier if she brought some unique tech or skills, but like I said I can see some situations where I'd run her.
The X-Visor lets the breaker rifle reach out to 32" even after a Move+Shoot, in a Fireteam that remains pretty good odds for someone at her price point. Playing Druze made me really respect that X-Visor, it really opens up engagement ranges.
grenzer brings fire, perseus and raoul bring nanopulser, and raoul also drop bears... there are DTW for that link (but yes, perseus and raoul might be better alone)
That is fair, but a part of me just does not like when a unit gets equipment/skills that it can not use in tandem together. They should have just given a X-Visor or Sensor, then go full crazy mode and give her a Breaker MMR.
The difference being that Druze needs to lean on the link, whereas Tunguska doesn't. For an "oh fuck" attack piece it's already got MML2 Stemplers and Hecklers. These have the advantage of not dragging a LI Fireteam forward. At this point though we're thinking of "how do we make her work", rather than "why should I pick her in a list in the first place". What role does she fill? When I pick Lupe for CJC, I pick her because it gives me an extremely solid secondary ARO as well as a bunch of utility options, including (importantly) increased link options. Why she can't join Grenzer links I don't know. Give her "counts as a Grenzer for Fireteams" and if immediately opens up Kovac + Grenzer Haris + Interventor KHD as a midfield objective grabbing Haris.
See, here's the thing, they complement each other, even if they're not used in tandem. TF can't be used when you move, which is where the X-Visor comes in useful, it also still gives her better odds within 32" than TF if the opponent doesn't have TO or ODD. If she does come across something that has visual mods or is over 32" range, or needs to shoot into CC, she can use Triangulated Fire to shore up her odds in that situation. She's not game winning by herself, but for 21 points there are some neat abilities on her.
While I agree she has some uses with her skills, how come her design space is just a cheaper version of a previously unique unit. While the Grenzer FO is “better”, there is now a cheaper version of pretty much the exact same thing.
