O-12 having a flagrant disregard for the Concilium Convention while acting like other factions have crossed the moral event horizon for doing the same thing would be apropos, I'd think. They're police, but it's not like police in my country aren't known for summary executions, racially targeted killings, etc. Or being corrupt gang members themselves (Rampart, CRASH, Banditos).
Also, note that the various real-world conventions usually apply to using the 'banned' weapons against Humans. EM is one of the best ways to deal with monowire (and has secondary use against REMs and vehicles), and fire is the ideal way to deal with nanoswarms (nanotech has issues dissipating heat). Kinda like the old joke about you're not shooting that .50cal at the person, you're shooting it at the equipment he's wearing. His belt buckle, or his backpack. (Not that the .50cal is a banned weapon, but there's been a long-running barracks rumor about it being banned.)
"I don't know how it happened, sir. I was just clearing that brush like you asked me to - I have no idea where that Foxtrot came from."
Using them, and PROVING that they were used are two entirely separate issues. This is why you can't kill the journos (civilians) in most games (unless they are a designated hostile target - in which case you can assume they work for the "fake news" media ). Step one in the use of "illegal weapons" irl is killing any way of that news getting out.
O-12 will have a HI with full auto, total reaction and a plasma HMG. No one can complain you dont follow the convention if nothing survives to tell the story...
Funnily enough, plasma weaponry isn't prohibited by the convention. Which means the onyx contact force is probably the most "convention friendly" army operating in the human sphere I guess?
It is, actually. I dunno how or why, since it's alien tech, but canonically it bricks cubes and so is banned. This is from back in N2 when it was E/M though.
I feel people in these discussion forget a very important point. The convention prohibit certain weapons at large. Meaning that you're not supposed to use them, yes. But Infinity is largely about Shadow Ops. The battles we play aren't supposed to be well known by the public and most aren't even sanctionned. In that situation, the use of prohibited weaponry is not as regulated by the convention as often you go against the law in the first place. Not to mention that O-12 right now is going against an alien force that actively tries to kill humans. The convention doesn't apply in Wildfire. "You stole the cube data of seventeen billion people, murdering twenty to access the databank. You'll be in prison for life and beyond." "But I didn't use any prohibited weapons." "You're right. Ten years in low sec."
In the old, ancient ways and arts of the Yu Jing Imperial Service: "It isn't against the law if you are the law." Razors are now officially Cloakers, the HI are now officially the various types of Dozers.
