You can do that too - I just find it easier to remember ratios. For example, if I want a black wash, I'll mix water to black ink at a 5:1 ratio.
Gotcha. Also, have been doing an alternative approach to yellow than what I have been doing now. Will post some of what I got once I am done with the models.
Yellow is a REALLY hard colour to paint effectively. It requires lots of layers, washes, and highlights. I'm looking forward to it though!
Okay so I took a little divergence today (do not worry, I did paint some models. Will post those up when I am done basing them). Took the kits for the Hexa Sniper and Kamau Hacker, switching around the loadouts so I could get a Kamau Sniper and Hexa hacker respectively. Had to epoxy the Hexa sniper arm a little bit but I think it turned out well.
Neat idea! I have the kamau also and seeing the pose on picture is even more ridiculous than in real twerk that!!!
Finished with the Swiss Guard from Beyond Ice Storm and some old N2 ORCS (one I cut off the Multi-rifle to make it more like a shotgun). Still need work with yellow, but I think I got the idea down now.
Not trying to be mean or anything, but you should try to thin your paints. Two thin coats are always better than one thick. That way you'll get a smooth finish.
Those things I am slowly working on. Granted I used to get finicky with it get getting too watery, but I might go with the mantra of 'better safe than sorry' that this point. :/
Finished with Kempei, so now my Keisotsu link for the most part is painted up. Paint might still be a little thick but I added a light layer of wash to tone it down.
The color is nice and it reminds me of Flashman from the Megaman & Megaman Battle Network Series. I like what you did with the yellow as well. Looks like you are getting better by leaps and bounds in skill.
Looking good tanako, you’re improving! One quick and easy technique that I used when I was learning (that you might want to try) is: 1. Basecoat of preferred color.(after priming) 2. Once it dries, mix a little white in and dry brush with the lighter color. 3 wash with preferred color. A lot of ppl tend to use black, black works on a lot of colors, not all though:) Done! Drybrush + wash work really good together and it’s easy. It might take some time to master, but the two together work really well. Since the wash clears up mistakes you did during the drybrush. And the drybrushing gives a nice highlight that makes it pop. Either way, good job!
Oh hello everyone. Sorry for being a bit silent but I have been working on my Senior thesis so progress is slow on my end. Have been painting some more JSA since it is the one I want to tackle more. In the future after I paint everything else up I am planning to strip a majority of my PanO since I am not satisified with the current paint jobs and current color scheme. Outside of that, I have some non-Infinity stuff I need to paint but I am not sure what the policy is concerning that for my painting log.
Depends on how YOU feel about it. Typically I don't unless I'm trying to demonstrate something. For other stuff, I made a Facebook page.
