The Blue Wolf is its own TAG unit, there even is a comic with it in the N2 books. So it should be different from the Guijia. The Mowang are listed to be jungle units, but who knows. I really like the idea of the two types of Tiger Soldiers :) Concerning PanO the Hospitalers are on Svalarheima.
I don't think so. Difference is ORCs are integrated within the generic military army forces of PanO meanwhile YuJing military machine is composed by various well defined sections that don't tend to mix. The armies of the banner are one thing, the Invincible Army is another different thing and they are not supposed to share their internal organization. The exception being the special operations section where fall units like Hac Tao, Tiger Soldiers, Shaolin and Guijia; whose only purpose is to offer support to the other sections. Therefore even if we can classify the Zuyong as the basic HI of YJ their place is the IA detachments; and despite the Mowang being a fitting unit to operate in Svalarheima it's an IA unit. A unit that an IA detachment deployed in Svalarheima might use, but not a unit to find in an army of the banner. Correction: the Mongolian Chivalry is the unit shown in the N2 comic strip. That being said the S2 like Nomad HI/MI recon units that appear in the same comic strip differ quite a lot from the hulking S5 Kriza Boraks have evolved into. Regarding Mowang, they were originally created and deployed in Paradiso as jungle fighting troops, but their role in the IA has become that of units to operate in hazardous environtments.
I just feel they may take more from existing because that would mean they would need to make new troops for YJ and they seem reluctant to make anything for Yu JIng. And even if they do, we will not see any figs for like 5 years, if ever. Shang Ji first appeared in Human Sphere N1, 2009. It’s now almost 2020 and we’ve gotten one figure. I’m being a bit negative today but I’m feeling we will be lucky to see White Banner next year.
Sadly, you're right. At least the TacWare Zuyongs shouldn't be, but they are. And that really pisses me off! Zuyongs replaced the old Invincible HI (for the N3 folks, the old Invincibles were basically Wu Ming with Cubes, without the super-cheap profiles), so I am expecting to see some flavor of basic HI in White Banner. My expectation is Zuyong, though Wu-Ming-with-Cubes as a 'new' unit (one unavailable to IA) wouldn't surprise me. I honestly agree with being surprised about seeing WB in 2020, unless it shows up around Christmas. Dunno what Army Box we're getting at AdeptiCon, probably O12, and N4 is the GenCon release. But we did get surprised with ColdFront this year, when the previous starter sets were 2 years apart, so we might get a new starter box to come with N4... (or Code 1, actually).
I disagree. I play both and don't see it that way at all. In Dahshat there's only two wildcards that goes with them, ABH and Valerya, who is a mediocre hacker at best. All of the good wildcards in IA make for a much better team. I know some are bent about the Rui Shi being in the team but believe me, it's not an uber weapon at all! You mean Shang Ji? That's Wu Ming with cubes mostly. Invincibles used to be exactly like ORCs and people wanted them to be different from PanO.
I wouldn't expect a new-new HI for White Banner. I'd expect White Banner not to be a carbon-copy of early Yu Jing, regardless of what exact words Bostria used, but rather I expect it to be based more around the concept of the early Yu Jing army which is lots of light infantry supported by a few elite units (where as ISS and IA are lots of elite infantry supported by novel ways of generating orders). Zhanshi will take the most prominent role, though it'll be interesting to see if they revamp Shaolin and if so how. For new units I'm expecting more along the lines of infiltration and overhaul of existing units - partly because the current line up kind of was designed without sectorial intent and more prominently that there's a new edition coming. I'm expecting more MI than HI, basically. But another line trooper heavy infantry? What the hell would that bring the faction? Yet another heavy infantry fireteam? And yet another heavy infantry sectorial that'll mostly revolve around making Zhanshi Fireteams? No thank you. Focus instead on getting remotes into Zhanshi Fireteams and specifically stuff to make guerrilla warfare against Pan-O tech (which means some actual hacking units and probably jammers, tbh). No, Shang-Ji were absolutely better than Terracotta Soldiers, and existed along side them, though I can't dig up the exact stats, and Orcs were better at shooting.
I'd like it if they did have a few HI but be different all being like AVA 1 or 2. You can have them but not many. Maybe some wildcards to go with light troops. They can even so specific FTO ones so you don't always get they best HI HMG and a bunch of cheap troops. For example a Zhanshi team can have a Wildcard FTO Hsien with Multi-Rifle but not the HMG.
Another thing to bear in mind is that BTS acted as a penalty to Hacking so high values (and 6 was as high as it got) were much more valuable to HI. Multi rifles were also trash in N2 so the cost saving by Shangers having a combi was very important.
All HI was 4-2 Until Shang Ji in HSN1. It was a big deal. Then N3 all HI was changed. Then the fluff became nothing more than propaganda. Edit: Thanks @Ayaxs
Honestly the idea of all these homeless Vanilla units ending up in White Banner just feels boring to me. I am perfectly happy playing Vanilla Yu Jing as a generic banner right now. OTOH, Corvus Belli has been on a creative spree and VIRD+RTF give me hope that a collection of vanilla units can come out very spicy stewed with some brand new profiles. [QUOTE="I also wouldn't mind getting some sort of biker unit. But that's a far cry away from the gap left from losing the Oniwaban.[/QUOTE] Well in the text for minedispenser they mention Thai gangsters on bikes teasing us with a new unit, although I don't know how well that fits with a regular army deployed on a ice ball: Mine Dispensers are portable area denial weapons, designed to be installed in vehicles or super heavy armor units...These weapons have been widely used by the... drivers of the Thai mafias of Nakhonthai province, in Shentang. Actually, this gets me pretty excited for a "Yu Jing Underworld" type of sectorial. Sort of the dark opposite of ISS, but as the fluff writers remind us, the many threats to the common people serve the power of the state, even if not directly linked to the imperial palace.
The Outrage comic might give us a glance of WB. The characters were surrounded by YJ at one point including Guijia, Tiger Soldiers I think.
Talking about a revamp of Shaolins, what about a link team with a special character, similar to massacre and the Jaguars in Corregidor?
I forgot they all seem to jump in from an aircraft. I think just getting them would be asking a lot. I'd be all over that. But again they would need to change them to Regular, or have the character with Inspiring Leadership that allows them to become Regular.
