I have been really digging into Sprial Corps and trying a lot of different combos. I originally took this combo as a joke: Spiral Corps ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 3 KIIUTAN Submachine Gun + E/Mitter / Viral Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 26) KIIUTAN Submachine Gun + E/Mitter / Viral Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 26) KAELTAR Light Shotgun, Flash Pulse + 2 SymbioBombs / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0 | 15) 1 SWC | 67 Points Open in Infinity Army But it has performed so well for me over and over again that I'm almost considering it a must take. I'm sure the combo has been discussed before but using two really takes it to the next level. The way I play it is to deploy both Kiiutan's not in marker state just outside of my opponents deployment zone next to my opponents best pieces of scenery whether thats a sniper tower or an enclosed bunker with a roof. With the two Kiiutan I can cover a 32" line (technically slightly longer because of the bases) across my opponents deployment zone. If I'm going first I just look for any type of total cover, if going second I look for a rooftop to be prone on right next to their biggest threat (Achilles, 5 man links). I have been holding my kaeltar back as my reserve drop but now that my opponents have seen it a few times I will probably start deploying with bombs on. These guys absolutely ravage non-rem links. My goal is to try and walk in view of the link and in ZoC of the link leader, if they declare shoot I eraser the leader if they declare reset I gun down a link member (or drop e/mauler if you payed for that one). continue until the link is broken and then go into suppression fire if possible. They now have a two wound SMG to deal with in their backfield and no link. If you have the SWC and points the E/mauler definitely improves him but is by no means mandatory. They have come through big in other ways as well, different angles to drop a mirror ball so the tri-core can move up or shoot MSV troopers, revitalis and first aid thats up close to where your Rasail Rambo might be running out of gas. and just starting up the board with a gun and clearing chaff. If you are going second go prone on a rooftop and create a 32" no link, achilles, tarik, or Sheskiin zone. anyone who climbs or jumps up there should be eating fire from helots or just getting erasered. Just an idea for other people to try, its really been working well for me.
Links usually have 6 sense l2, so they just delay, if you're in ZoC of entire link. Situations where you have Lof to non-leader, are outside of their ZoC and in ZoC of leader are rare. But you still can force non-SS1/2 models to declare change facing ARO and then ravage them with bomb.
Thanks for clearing up the sixth sense benefit, In that case I would probably still just eraser the link leader , he can mow down the Kiiutan and accept high chances of breaking the link or try to reset.
Why not just: Place E/Mauler on the corner of a building looking onto a fire team. Walk into line of fire with Fire Team. Fire Bomb at Team Leader. See what they choose then E/Mauler triggers.
If you have to SWC for the maulers thats a great play. I find SWC to be a premium in the faction and don't feel that both Kiiutans need maulers to be effective.
I would take at least one E/Mauler Kiuutan. I think the kit is much more oppressive with it than without.
Last night I l played against Ariadna. Mission was the one where you have to take the marker/objective from the enemy deploy and bring it back. I must say that the Kiutan was the MVP of the game. Having 2 wounds and doging on 14 makes him really annoyng for the opponent to kill. With Symbiobomb and e/mauler he didn't kill anyone, but he broke a Link team and with E/mauler isolated a trooper that was coming to him for the kill. I am really starting to consider 2 of them to be something.
I have been getting a ton of games with spiral and the more I play the more our impersonators just keep doing work for me. Now that my opponents are all pretty savvy to my bomb trick I just deploy the Kiiutan's with bomb attached and hold back a greif as a reserve trooper. Yes Draals are still very cool but the Kiiutan and Greif are my spiral must takes at the moment.
actually you can just drop a E/Mauler and stay out of LoS then drop the bomb without showing yourself: reset will trigger the E/Mauler
How are you putting the bomb on the impersonation marker? And if not in marker state how do you benefit from personation super infiltration that comes with it without also being in marker state? Seems like this is a no-go unless there's a FAQ allowing this.
No, both had a clause that say they can't be attached to a Marker state added with the Daddy's Fall update. However, Impersonation has two main effects, it allows you to deploy outside DZs (or even inside the enemy DZ with a roll) and it allows deployment in the Impersonation state, neither of these are described as mandatory or as being conditional on the other effect, so it is possible to Deploy outside DZ but not be in the state, or even deploy in the State but not be in the DZ.
Colbrook already answered but yeah, you deploy as the model, there is absolutely nothing that says you have to use all features of impersonation to use any of them.
It's now an obligatory skill rather than optional so you can't hide the fact you have Tri-Core with holo 1, only which member of the Fireteam has the skill. Basically it prevents the "Surprise, this MSV2 Sniper actually has +3 BS and 6th Sense you didn't know about until you spent orders setting up a white noise trick".
I was just thinking about how shitty that ruling was... Not so much for the "Gotcha" factor but now you know that my Tri-Core... now oppents can focus on hunting it down before I can get in that ass...
The errata was added to correct an inconsistency between English and Spanish printing of the rules afaik.
