Keeping in mind that essentially the only Yu Jing unit that's set in stone for Dahshat is Zuyong. CB can if they feel the need for it make adjustments to an NA2 like Dahshat more or less at no real risk to piss people off too much (they're secondary homes for the models anyway). They can't with a main faction sectorial and it's even worse if they were to remove units from JSA, but Dahshat they can just up and remove Hulang from them as a simple AVA adjustment. (Sure, there will always be some who do not like it, but it's relatively small impact on people's collection or ability to use their figurines)
Sure they could but I doubt it. I supose they could do a Ko Dali/Exrah to it but again. Dahshat, IA, and Hulang just came out. I can’t see them doing any changes for a long time. Also, even if they did make changes to the Hulang but didn’t to the Shang Ji or Guijia, people would be super pissed!
The game balance cycle of a board game is a lot longer than a computer game and the statistics CB has available are, let's call them "a heck of a lot cruder" and leave it at that, but they can still do it at short notice without violating consumer protection laws again. I'm not sure people would be pissed about Hulang adjustments, to be honest. Some might see it as an insult, but most would take what little they are given knowing that CB seldom corrects small imbalances like single units, preferring instead to come up with larger systems that competes with that type of imbalance.
Saito lost his Specialist profile in JSA, that's an 'only in DBS' option. And that was after about a year of people using it in JSA.
I honestly believe that they wanted to take out that profile from the game entirely but they forgot it was on two armies.
I'm pretty sure it was deliberately included in DBS, and Specialist Saito was definitely not supposed to be a general Mercenary option. But he was very useful in JSA.
Yeah... specialist Saito was a happy little accident for JSA, and I think they should have left it there.
I disagree, it was too good, making in almost all lists and stealing presence to the other ninja profiles.
Which I see as the other Ninja profiles being not good enough in comparison, not "Saito is too good."
Yeah, I don't think anything in JSA qualifies as being 'too good' (Karakuri not withstanding, but that's to do with Total Immunity's buff being an absolute misstep that has no place in the game as a whole and will hopefully be reversed by the time of the next errata, and less to do with the unit's design itself).
The only thing that needs to go through Total Immunity is Monofilament and specific lore-friendly vulnerabilities (Dog Warrior Viral and Stun vulnerability). Being resistant to EXP is essentially the whole point of Total Immunity and has always been so.
Agreed. Though I would also like Doggos to be vulnerable to Fire. (as well as 'Mates being Vuln:Fire)
I was thinking if you wanted to make these guys not garbage the starting point might be the Domaru statline, swapping berserk, dual wield, core and kinematica for specialist operative, and maybe downgrade to ARM 2 to bring the points down. Then add eclipse grenades.
+1 PH and Nimbus or Smoke and I think he’d be fine. Wouldn’t mind a Spitfire or some other weapon with more damage either. It wouldn’t be horrible for Dahshat either but could understand if they didn’t get all of the same profiles. I hate that some of the YJ “HI” have less PH than an un-armored Monk.
I think this experiment with a melee unit that's almost exclusively unreliant on PH is interesting, and honestly the high PH on Monks is more likely that they had to spend points to keep the Monk from getting too inexpensive. I say, instead of a bunch of PH and grenades, slap TO camo and Frenzy on Hulang. Price should drop by about 5 if you also remove Specialist Operative (Hulang for murder, Zhencha for buttons). Then you realize that this means no Fireteam to cheat the Frenzy and that once they kill something they won't be able to get back to Marker state next turn - i.e. the least bullshit Frenzy you'll see in game.
The ability to drag a wildcard duo (either Haidao KHD or Pangguling) upfield is something I've been toying with.
