This game and all the miniatures are KS exclusives. Later, some of them will get released with different poses.
There are two let's play videos on the kickstarter page. You can download the rulebook on the kickstarter page. Mayacast has a let's play podcast as well.
Shinobu is included in the Outcasts expansion (with a new model in the Platinum Pledge) so JSA are included. Raoul and the Fat Yuan Yuan are both mercs/NA2.
I'm just going to stop paying attention then. All this thing does is make me feel bad. Reminds me of 40. "He who has the biggest bank account, wins."
I'd be OK with a Chaksa Merc Hero who could also be available to Tohaa and Spiral Corps. (but I still want a Tohaa Hero)
Isn't this like ... real life? The only difference is, here you can play (and even win the game) without the biggest bank account, because there are tokens for the miniatures in the game ... In real life .... well ...
I'm confused. The game is fully playable without any of the miniatures as far as I can tell (everything has a token to use if you want)... and since it's a coop game to begin with, it's - by its very nature - not a pay-to-win game.
In defiance you can do tokens. Not a game I'm going to be able to play. At this moment it looks like only about 3,000 people in the world will be able to as well. Seems silly to me, to do this in a way the limits the number of people that can play it. This game could sell in the tens of thousands or more if i was just done as regular board game. True but see above. I'm a guy that's lucky to buy a single blister when I save up and maybe skip a meal.
Never mind. I’m just irritated I can’t be a part of this. The minis are going to be so exclusive that I’ll never even see them. The saving grace is the proxy rules allow me to play something else in infinity. So I guess I should shut up. Just jealous.
Well, I will not play it alone, so I assume the other 3.000 won't as well. While I get your point that the game might be too expensive for some (or most in the world), that's something I can't change. It would be great if it would be different, but like I said, it's still like ... in real life. In real life not everyone can buy a Ferrari or Porsche or even a car.
That sucks, there was a large portion of my adult life where I missed out on a lot due to lack of funds or being unable to work, so I definitely empathise.
Sorry about your situation, I sincerely hope it improves If it's any consolation, it is a 4 player game (or more, I imagine, with some fiddling), so someone in your meta is bound to get it
Not a single one produced by CB and with the exception of the fantastic "Sneak Peek" video by BGR (which is the prefect video to place foremost in the gameplay section as it gives more actual gameplay info than anything else in a concise manner, but appears like a pre-review with the title and location in the Media section) are all roughly an hour long or more. The gameplay overview on the KS page is a whole 14 sentences long and has one single sentence of what you can do on your turn. The only reason to watch those long videos or read a 32 page rule book is because you were already interested, CB is doing nothing to generate the initial interest in the gameplay and is instead focusing 100% on what you get, not what you do with it.
It would be awesome if they had a pure cardboard option, given that the minis appear to be completely unnecessary to actually play, for this exact reason.
At this point it looks like they are avoiding Tohaa on purpose: there you have the fourth Uxia, another Fat Yuan Yuan, another Kitsune, packs for playing with any Faction as the bad guys (so far Aleph, O-12, PanO, Yu-Jing and Nomads)... anything except Tohaa.
I'm trying to figure out if it is some vs all of the sculpts (ignoring reinforcement packs) that are getting regular releases. I suspect that I may not get a solid answer as it could lead to some pulling back due to the shipping schedule now though. If they are even sure of the plans right now.
If you're in the Twin Cities, you're welcome to play Defiance with me. That said, your frustration is understandable. It's a large investment, and one that I'm not even entirely comfortable with given my own situation, though I'm finding ways to justify it. It does, doesn't it? To be fair, it wouldn't make a lot of sense for humans sending a team of humans to save humanity from interstellar bad guys to let a scheming artichoke in on their plans, now would it?
So now your complaint is that there is too much gameplay information? Carlos is in the OTT video explaining how to play the game. You can watch a video for about 10 minutes and get the general flow how the game works, including dice and AI cards.
