CB is doing Kickstarter for two reasons:

    1) This project requires more funds than they have normally available.
    2) They want a more exact measure of demand before they start producing the product in earnest.

Which is *checks notes* exactly what Kickstarter is for!

She's exclusive to the forthcoming platinum pledge which includes the Collector's edition of the Core game, plus scenery pack and expansion.

If you're not interested in Defiance you're likely better off waiting for the inevitable general release.

As it looks now, Shinobu is a "free" addition for the upcoming Platinum Pledge, but there seems to be another stretch goal at 600K for "New Shinobu Kitsune Mission something", so she might become an upgrade to any of the other pledges as well.

If you look closely the 600k stretch goal is a "Shinobu Kitsune Mission", presumably to be included with the Expansion.

Yeah, it's probably not miniature related.

Thanks guys. My phone interface wasn’t showing anything unless I click all the way into “manage pledge”, which I didn’t touch since I first put down the dough. ;-)

You mean they, as an established company, cannot afford the project from their own pocket and are not capable or willing to get a bank loan for the project, so instead they opt to take a 0% interest 1 year+ loan from their already established customer base?

CB are not a start up, neither are they a company that releases project-to-project. Kickstarter was definitely not made for companies like them. They are attempting a single project release and I'm fine with that - but if they're asking for this kind of a loan, I'd really expect them to up their QA and communication game.

A loan doesn't give them the demand information a Kickstarter does. It would also increase the cost of the project and the cost of the final product.

I'm sorry, I really don't see the difference between CB doing a Kickstarter and Hawk Wargames, Steve Jackson Games, Ninja Division, CMON, Knight Models, or any other small but established game company doing a Kickstarter to fund a new game. Apart from the fact that CB seem to be being pretty Cautious and might actually turn a profit and not bankrupt themselves in the process.

Well I heard an interview of Fred Henry, head of monolith that made conan and mythic battle pantheon for exemple. He says that clearly KS is a pre-order platform and a way for him to increase the editor margin by going business to consumer. It's also good publicity for the game they release.

Depending on who you back it's a pre-order or a high risk operation. With CB it's clearly a pre-order imho.

And CB is very inspired to take full advantage of platform like KS.

    Yeah, this.

People seem to be being very uncharitable.

Given the litany of negative examples which litter the annuals of Kickstarter, the approach taken by Corvus Belli here seems cautiously sensible at worst.

Yup, your credit card is not charged until the KS campaign ends.

Which is why lots of people are using backerkit to adjust things after-the-fact.

That model is a KS exclusive, but we have Koni saying that there will eventually be a regular release (about like the other pre-order exclusive minis).

@CB could you help us understand and clarify? Would be really good to know if shipping is planned for July for all pledge levels. Thank you!

They have changed stance in the last few days and you can pledge a single euro to gain access to the Pledge Manager when it opens up. You will not be able to purchase any add-ons without upgrading to at least a Core pledge in the PM though.

God damnit, why aren't they screaming this off the top of the KS page, this is a complete "save me a spot here!" deal changer for many people, myself included.

Found it, of course after 10 minutes of digging:
    upload_2019-11-5_8-18-47.png
So I still can't tell if I will be able to get to the add-ons if I pledge 1 EUR and then upgrade to a pledge level - and that's KINDA critical information.

    EDIT:
It's hidden even deeper, apparently you can.
    upload_2019-11-5_8-20-27.png

    EDIT2
And something more I wasn't aware of, the Pledge Manager opens MONTHS after KS ends and is left open for months. That's EXCELLENT news for those of us who can't afford a pledge now and would prefer to wait until it's closer to delivery.

I still don't like that you need to pledge for the core set to be able to get expansions. It makes sense if they're just expansions for a board game, but as these are also Infinity models, I think you should be able to access models for factions you might play (O-12) without having to get models you might not play.

Well, the Reinforcement Packs are kinda cheap so I can imagine that they at least want to sell some Core Pledges with them. I doubt they make much (if any) profit out of the Reinforcement Packs. At least if you factor in the manpower to get them sorted, packed and sent.

Understand in that case. It's the expansion I'm more worried about.

Regarding the Expansion I understand you. I can imagine that O-12-players want the miniatures but maybe not the game.
On the other hand, from the perspective of the game 'Defiance' the expansion only makes sense with the Core game, so ...

Yeah, I did address that. If the models were only usable for Defiance, it would be different. But they've made a point of it all being compatible with Infinity.

I do get that we'll get versions of these models in Infinity too, but I rather like these ones and I don't know how i'll feel about the regular ones when they come.

Several people are reversing their backing to only 1 EUR and I can fully understand their stance. Here's a good explanation
