Could be, but do you lose the folks who dove in for the Deluxe box (75% of the backers right now) who are the primary drivers towards those stretch goals?
Or perhaps, just perhaps, information like that should be included in the main page of the kickstarter so that people don't have to go delving for it. I spent roughly an hour an a half yesterday morning trying to find out if there was a way to play against the units with Collector's exclusive sculpts in the Core game to find out in the videos and FB posts produced by 3rd parties that there are tokens for all those units. Then had to ask about tokens for the alternate enemies that have been unlocks. At least they have updated those to show tokens as well as cards, but still nothing on the main page about base game tokens for enemies.
So it doesn't look as though CB as made any effort to improve the quality of their edits. Maybe they'll be able to hire someone if they make some money of this lol.
I don't believe anyone has pointed out the true value of this kickstarter: If I'm counting correctly only four of the total models have tactical junk on their bases. My dude, this ks seems to be causing you significant stress. High functioning autism or otherwise, maybe consider talking to your doctor. I'm not being glib here.
Yeah, unfortunately there is/was a lot of baggage attatched to that... But if you think about it, the corpse markers, resin bases and crates are tactical junk with no models... :p
Honest thanks for the concern, but I'm good. My level of frustration with how unprofessionally CB are managing this KS is about the same as anyone else's (of those who agree with me that it's an issue), I'm just very open about stating it and not pulling punches (the no filter "feature"). In the meantime, the KS has crept up to aaaaaaaaalmost 500k (literally hundreds of Euro, one or two backers away from it). It seems to be getting 10-20k per day now, if that more or less keeps up until the closing rush, 750k might be doable and then the rush. We shall see. It seems that CB aren't learning yet, the 520k goal are 4 activation tokens (?). Sigh. I hope at least that the rumors about high demand for stretch goal legs and CB thinking about how to make that happen for the KS will pan out.
I would like to remind language in the thread @Nuada Airgetlam It says chips, so they probably are not mere tokens.
Well then, tokens, in form of poker chips? Four small pieces of round plastic, that's the whole point. It's way too little for a whole 20k EUR step.
Depends really, not everything is manufactured in house and manufacture of something may be more expensive than you think it is, that been said some streachgoals may be covering for other stretch goals that came up too cheap.
If that's the case (and the chips and dice tray are costing less than 20k combined, which I'm not sure is true...) then I expect that we'll be seeing a pretty big goal soon, since CB would probably want the goal that creates the surplus out first, that way they don't lose money on the more expensive one by giving it out first and then potentially not meeting the goal on the cheaper one that helps pay for it...
Ah, I haven't noticed that this was a first double goal (two items on the same value). I don't really think they planned it like that. It all seems like they've been surprised with the success and had to spread the items REALLY thin. The goals being unusually hidden could have also been a part of their uncertainty, not to be left without things to give out just because the KS went well.
I really hope for CB the Chips and the Dice Trays cost less than 20k. Otherwise they would make a loss with these, because they have to deliver aprox. additional 110 Deluxe Pledges to get the extra 20k. And the Pledges are already competitively priced. Rumors were much higher (230 USD were mentioned, as well as 250 EUR). So I don't really understand when someone says "It's not enough". It's something additional they offer for free. To get the money from the Stretch Goal they have to deliver additional Pledges and the more Pledges they sell, the more of the free Chips and Dice Trays they have to deliver. I am sure, CB calculated this right, but because of this, there is nothing like "It's way too little for a whole 20k EUR step." Imagine, if you assume, the original (Deluxe) Pledge is already calculated +/- Zero (because some around here say, Kickstarter is not here to make you a profit) then everything they would offer with a Stretch Goal would bring them some losses. Again, just my thoughts on this. (Yes, I am no editor or translator, I work with numbers)
Running a successful KS is a real art and by successful I mean the company doesn't go bust from it or end up with almost nothing to show for it, a friend of mine was very high up on the dropfleet commander ks from hawk and that basically bankrupted what was a moderately successful company with an established product line, there were other issues in the back ground but delivering the KS is what really nailed it home. Many companies are spending/owe the funds before they even begin, I'd like to assume CB are doing this to get a concentrated return on a product (the minis) instead of conventional release to fund some specific projects and not as a way to keep the lights on and they're certainly not trying to set up a business, the value of KSing this project as a backer is discount, simple as that, the stretch goals are to support the game, essentially the vehicle being used to package the miniatures. If you don't see the value in the miniatures discount or the basic level pledge game system then there's no point in backing, myself falling into this catorgory. I'm very confused as to why people are feeling hard done by or bitter over a 4 day old KS with a very limited target audience and essentially a front loaded bonus in the form of discount miniatures for an established game system, imo they could have just done the basic pledges and left it at that and you'd still be quids in, who cares about the free stuff on top? You will get what you get, I doubt many people are doubling down on pledges to push the stretch goals so you're relying on other backers to get you more free stuff not CB, they obviously want to be successful and draw in backers but if the balance of all the factors behind the KS go out of kink it could be devastating, too many pledges to match production schedules, awkward batch numbers for stretch rewards leading to surplus product or unfactored costs, warehouse staff hours for packing rising beyond projected limits due to high level of pledges.... I don't know a lot about this stuff but I do recognise a company that is managing a KS very well, they know their audience (which isn't board game players), they've designed a vehicle to package their product (the miniatures are the product not the game) which can generate multiple rewards which won't undermine the products value to them and their communications look great to me, they have a good team on KS working around the clock it would seem and they've used several social media influencers to promote the KS. I'm not a fanboy but it's hard to justify any negativity towards CB over this KS unless you're expectations are just completely unrealistic, don't get offended, this isn't an attack it's just a response to some of the commentators who seem disappointed so far.
Once we account for buying the items, shipping to CB, repackaging the pledge rewards, kickstarter's cut etc, then it's entirely possible that there's not a lot of meat left on the bone to pass forward... Yeah, I'm not sure if I want to know how it actually works... Sausages and laws and all that...
