Well, now I am furious. Such utter... I can't even.... What's this business with the announcement being at 3:00pm C.E.T. ? Reeeeeeeee! Is this some sort of trollish nonsense about the inclusion of that hillbilly quasi-werewolf in the basic hero set, and the exclusion of the Haqq hero? I am not amused. Who is the rocket surgeon behind this anyway? I'm totally going to PM them the Navy Seal Copy-Pasta. Back in Reality: Perhaps using GMT would be the way to go. That way I can subtract 4 hours and get the EDT easily enough. No idea how to convert CET to real time. Too lazy to use the internet to find out.
https://www.worldtimebuddy.com/cet-to-est-converter So 10AM, or 9AM for me because we don't need daylight savings here.
Oh, yeah, absolutely, everything is JUST FINE. 44 miniatures. 32 miniatures. 33 miniatures. Posting a worldwide Kickstarter kick off time announcement in CET right on the break of daylight savings time, when Zulu exists for that exact reason. Who cares, CB can never do wrong, complaining is a thought crime.
What I don't understand (yeah, there are many things I don't understand): a) is it somehow existentially important, that you are the first to access the kickstarter? An hour earlier or later, does it really matter? I for myself am glad they even posted a time, not just a date. b) Where is the harm done? Even if you insist there were miscommunications, right now there is absolutely no harm done yet. Noone spent a single buck on Defiance. I'll just try to relax and wait till Tuesday (and hopefully OTT has a video about it for me today already ...)
What if you're on the night shift ? What if you're living in Auckland ? Unless you make at least 2 KS releases for 2 time zones, there is no good choice in release time...
Sometime there is a discount for the early bid (like the first 100 people to pledge get a discount). Not sure they are going to do that here. In that case, lauching time doesn't really matter ... PS : just realized CET and UTC not the same thing ... And with summer / winter time it gets even more complicated ;D We just switched to winter time here. Is there a summer / winter time in Spain too ?
I heard of a new Invention. It's called "Alarm Clock". It's still kinda rare and fancy but might solve any of these problems Didn't know of early bids so ... maybe it's interesting which time they start. Regarding Time switch: Since its in the EU, I assume so. And Google is our friend regarding the time zones. Oh ... and there is nothing like a "winter time". Its the "normal time". Summer time is the wrong time. Just in case someone asks you, which time you want to keep if they finally stop this nonsense with summer / normal time. I slept so much better today compared to last week.
Anyhow, it's 3PM CET so it's GMT+1 without DST (wich is Paris winter time). Everyone just have to figure out their own time zone and if they are in DST or not. Just look at @colbrook excellent link XD
Infinty sells in all time zone, from Australia to the US. Australia is + 10 compared to CET and West Coast is -8. Having the kickstarter released mid-day is mor or less the only way to have it available to all time zone. If I count correctly 15pm CET will mean 1am in Australia to 7am west coast. I don't think it's really possible to do much better with such a big gap.
CET time is a bit peculiar. That said, I've never seen a KS where an early bird saves you more than $10. And we don't even know if there'll be an early bird. So ... who cares? Use your Google-fu, it'll sort the time zone shenanigans out for you. Anyway, I don't know why everyone's so worked up. The campaign will have stretch goals (according to Carlos), they will probably be awesome (he hinted at additional minis, and the Defiance page has two entire enemy race slots that are locked), and someone will always find something to complain about (where's my army?, where's my representation?, where's my personalized pledge level?, etc.). It's a Kickstarter, after all. Right now, I've seen renders for 3x Cadmus, 1x Gwailo, 3x Nox, 3x Taigha, 2x Jayth, 2x Speculo, 1x Charontid, 3x Seed, 3x Caliban, Aida, Victor, 4x Heroes, and I believe we saw a Sheskiin card? Assuming so, that adds up to 28 minis, with 5 yet to be revealed, most of which are probably additional heroes (we know there'll be Haqq and Aleph characters). But those 5 aren't stretch goals, they're already being advertised as included. That's a pretty solid baseline if (a) you just want to play the game; or (b) you want a Shasvastii army. EDIT: Official comment from the Infinity FB page: "The Collector’s edition comes with 33 miniatures. Not counting unlocks during the campaign…" Buckle up, buckos, this is going to be fun! And if Defiance isn't for you, well, KS is awash in other huge boxes of plastic for you to spend your hard-earned dollaroos on.
How peculiar? Other than some countries using it wrongly? Part of the "Spain has weird schedules" black legend is due that (other is just plain stupid schedules, not legend).
Peculiar only insofar as large English language kickstarter projects usually use a more widely recognized time zone in their advertising, regardless of where they're located. That's all, no biggie. I never said it was a problem.
