Its not only the metal. The time i tried tp pre-order HSN3 Books on the CB store, they showed me a shipping price of 18€ to Germany. Diceded to pre-order in my Nerdstore and wait a bit longer. Same with other stuff liek Wildfire. I expect the shipping cost around 25€ in Europe if they keep using the spanish postal service.
Yeah, I pre-ordered the Art Book (IIRC) direct from CB when it wasn't clear that any other retailer would have the Pre-order mini available, and ended up paying about as much as the book in shipping. Spanish Postal Service is hideously expensive!
Although it doesn't seem to scale as high as other countries, it costs about as much to get something shipped to me from the CB store in Spain (the other side of the Atlantic) as it does from a US retailer like Miniature Market or Noble Knight (Miami is an hour's flight from here). Which makes even less sense when you realise everything from Spain has to come through the US to get here!
Surely they will sort out distribution hubs for fulfilling the KS? I'd expect atleast one for the US. Shipping everything from Spain would be costly and logistically more complicated.
Usually, the EU friendly american KS I took part on, used England as stepping stone to get into EU without huge tax increases (using the commonwealth as intermediary step), so I assume the other way around is the norm. With Brexit, however, looming eternally over the horizon, less KS use that option, but I don't know where have they shifted to :S I doubt, however, that CB will ship a container full of boxes to the USA, going instead to a shipping company to avoid the logistic headache that can be otherwise for non-experts... Unless maritime shipping has changed in the last 4 years, that is.
It's been years and years, I don't remember. I dunno, prepping the boxes in Spain then stuffing them into a cargo container for someone in the US to put into USPS may be relatively cheap. As long as you fill the entire cargo container, that is. Less-than-Container-Load (LCL) costs are hideous.
It's not about the costs, it's the logistics of hiring a container, finding a ship to send it to, because maybe they need to send said container by road from Vigo to Algeciras, where it gets onboard a ship (that you need to find, sign with the owner, etc...) that goes, eventually, to american port X where it needs to be inspected by customs officers, then send to the final shipping company where the boxes are checked and sent, and insurance claims filled if the cargo suffered through the travel... Not to mention that, if the container is not full, finding other cargo to fit, etc etc... Multimodal logistics are a nightmare for those not used to organize them, at least around here, and I only got a glimpse a few years back. Unless you don't care about "if" the product arrives or not (much less "when"), my suggestion is to hire a professional, of which there should be several in Galicia, since several ships go from there to Canarias, stopping or not along the route (others go 'round to Barcelona).
Products are already reaching USA, it would be more about shipping to a warehouse that splits & reships, or even getting such deal with their current distributors. Or by ship, or even Vigo - New York or Montreal on a weekly basis.
As far as i know, CB uses MRW for peninsular shippings, not Correos (national post service). Dont know for international shippings
Depending on the order size I've had Correos offered on international orders. Even when they offer free shipping via DHL I've requested them send Correos as it saves me a stack of admin and customs fees (cost of shipping is included in customs fees, even if I didn't pay it).
While looking around for examples, I found one with UPS... that claiming the town was in the middle of nowhere (important harbour, but not main airport), charged extra for the "service" and passed it to the local post company. Typical carrier "service"... their expertise is billing (in one personal experience, not even capable of reading box contents, so taxes were wrong, but not enough to make it worth to complain), moving things around is optional.
Damn still on fance. One option for me is Core Space with Infinity miniatures. Can have now and its give me excuse to grab any Infinity S2 model across whole range. Another one is big box of Defiance. What will be help me on 29th ;). Wish list: -Specnaz unmasked girl -Morat gurl unmasked(somebody mentioned that in different topic and its sound to me like great idea) maybe enemy with option to join your side. -new Kitsune girl -Nun healer
With the recent reveal that their wording was shit again and it's 32 miniatures total, not 44, in Collector's? Not really.
Ah ... , Internet is great. The Kickstarter is not even up yet, nothing final is shown, they didn't receive any money from anyone yet, so didn't scam anyone of anything, but it's already shit. Gotta love it. I'd understand it, if the Kickstarter would have been up, they cashed the money and then it would have been 32 instead of 44 miniatures, but until now, nothing happened. We don't even know how transparent the Kickstarter will be. Maybe they list every single miniature that will be included? Can't we just wait till Tuesday and judge the final offer?
