Wasn't the quote "everything included in the core box PLUS 32 miniatures"?

Do you have a hard confirmation that it's "non-miniature Core Box stuff + 32 miniatures"?

Because otherwise it reads as "everything (12 miniatures + stuff) in the core box + 32 miniatures" = 44 miniatures + stuff.

Ah, they could have worded that better in the original post.

...but at least they clarified quickly, and English isn't their native language.

With Sheskin being confirmed as well, we already know 27/32 Models for the collectors edition. Add two additional Heros (Aleph/Haqq) and only 3 unknown models left.

So how many miniatures are unknown yet then?

    Lets sum this up:
    - 3 Cadmus: unnecessary
    - Gwailos: unnecessary
    - 3 Nox: unnecessary
    - 2 Speculos: unnecessary
    - 1 Charontids: unnecessary, not Shas
    - 3 Caliban: unnecessary
    - 1 Aida Swanson: unnecessary
    - 1 Victor Messer: unnecessary

    - 3 Taigha creatures: necessary, but not enough
    - 3 seed soldiers: unnecessary, not played anyways
-Jayth cutthroats: unnecessary, not played anyways

So, while you might want to say something else, essentially you are saying 'I don't need/want Defiance to flesh out my Shasvastii Sectorial.'

While this might be true, if you
    a) want to play with only the 12 models in Wildfire and Beyond
    b) you don't want the models to be WYSIWYG
    c) you want to mix new and old sculpts
    d) want to hunt down rare models in ebay
    e) want to play with the ... weird Speculo Killer that is already available.

Every point of this is fair, but what I am wondering ... in the monthly release threads, every month people are wishing for SMG-profiles (Zencha), missing Feuerbach and Missile Launcher profiles (for Securitate and Grenzer for instance), ABH with SMG, Liu Xing with Multi Rifle, Hulang SMG, even a new Tai Sheng and so on. They wish for alternative sculpts with the loadouts they use.

So obviously people want WYSIWYG Models, but if CB is offering a package with almost every Shasvastii unit WYSIWYG and to be able to flesh out full AVA, people say, "unnecessary"

    That's something I don't really get.

Where are the people, that are constantly complaining they don't get the loadouts they use? Shouldn't they be cheering right now? They get every possible loadout of a whole sectorial. Even for characters like Victor and Aida and AVA-1 units like the Gwailos.

Well, I don't have to understand everything.

And I only looked at the product from the Infinity point of view. I am even more interested in the Coop-Game. Finally not "having to win" against my friends :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: but together with them.

And last but not least ... what I would wish for myself to be some sort of stretch goal is a Nomads Bandida Character (yeah, unlikely, Nomads already have a Char, did I mention I want the Billy remote too?) but for me the Bandida is the archetypical Nomads-Character ... able to do everything, without being specialised and of course having dirty tricks up her sleeve.
(And with her skillset and Scavenger she would be perfect on a mission like the one of the Defiance, the perfect solo character, so ... AHD Bandida Char for the win :joy: I'd even pay just for her)

    Again just my 5 cent.

Thanks, that adds an interesting layer to the discussion.

I implicitly assumed that there are two reasons to buy miniatures: a) "needed for the game" and b) "cool mini, it looks awesome". Of course the divide is a bit artificial and most of us are players and hobbyists, but I even played against some top50 worldwide ITS players whose armies were piles of half-assembled, heavily proxied, not even base coated minis. I think it is a pretty important requirement for infinity as a competitive system that such people are able to play any ITS legal army list they desire with available or (some) proxied minis. So essentially I describe the points a) - e) of your list (maybe substituting d) for simply proxying). My whole point here comes down to that buying Wildfire twice and 2 Speculo blisters probably gets you closer to competitive Shas lists than buying the big Defiance pack and therefore with some exceptions like the Jayth, Defiance already now does not "lock away" important models.

To me that leaves b) "cool mini, it looks awesome" as a strong motivator to buy Defiance from a Shas player hobbyist side of things. And thats where I'd say that CB selected the models quite nicely and certainly not to spark fear of missing out. Imagine they would put the Sphinx (replacing the Charontids), 3 Shrouded (replaying the seed soldiers), 2 Haiduks (replacing the Speculos) and 3 Noctifer (replacing the Cadmus) into the box and kept it Defiance exclusive.
I'd interpret that as: some people who are really into WYSIWYG will "need" Defiance, but that's a bit of a luxury problem and doesn't warrant unhappiness about CB releasing a cool board game.

So in the end both of us are firmly in the camp of wanting Defiance for the Coop-Game ;)

Ah ... I see. The idea of buying Wildfire twice didn't occur to me, because I don't buy the same models twice :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
But you are right, this might result in a more competitive list, than anything else.

For me it is both a) and b) of your reasons, because I don't own any of the older sculpts. Although I can play a Shasvastii List with 10 Camo-Tokens ....

Yes, I am in the "cool mini, looks awesome" camp here and still wonder, where the WYSIWYG-fetishists are :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I am curious, if some of the missing trooper will be added, meaning, Shrouded, Malignos, Noctifier and Haiduk or if they will be released separately for Infinity.

Sphinx would be a bit much for Defiance I guess.

Yes. Nothing more I can add to this statement :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I won't be surprised if a Sphinx does make an appearance in Defiance.

It'll make an excellent "Boss Fight" option.

There is a Poll on the Infinity Facebook page to determine if the Aleph or Haqq player character should be unlocked first during the game.

I don't get the business logic. My money is on the KS EXCLUSIVE bit being the cardboard and the totally not aristeia dice(TM). Then the minis will be sold as standard in the months following (assuming there are invetiable KS delays and CB again has production issues like with every operation box), I see this as ripe for ending with backers getting minis after general release.

If the minis are also KLS exclusive, then CB is screwing themselves out of future wildfire sales and damning the shas sectorial to irrelevance/hipster status.

So basically I'm worried this is gonna be a bundle of minis + game, of which only the game is exclusive and we are being used to fund the molds.

That, and going via KS means we have no protection as buyers, because we aren't actually buyers via KS at all...

I'd love it if Bostria or Gutier or someone could come out and be transparent about this so we know what we are buying (or rather hoping to be buying, assuming the KS delivers....and does so broadly on time), rather than leaving us in the dark. The more they withold this info, the more I feel there's something they'd rather we not know...

OR there's like one or two kickstarter-exclusive models, along the lines of the exclusive O-Yoroi pilot for the luxumbra kickstarter. Or maybe different "skins" for the characters.

But then that makes less sense from a cost standpoint, given that different poses/sculpts necessitate different moulds.

Nah, I doubt this. I think the "Boss Fight Option" can be suitably filled with the Gwailos as well as the Charontid.

But we'll see in around a week. I am already stoked.

    *shrugs*

I mean, they will both also be good for that.

But don't you feel like there will be space fore more "boss" combats than that?

    Especially with expansions.

Nah, you guys are looking at it from the wrong perspective.
Wildfire is a booster with alt sculpts for Defiance.
