I've been playing Tiny Epic Quest solo mode lately, and have been quite enjoying it. Love the Legend of Zelda vibe and the systems slick enough that solo mode doesn't seem like a massive admin task.

The urge to paint all the itemeeples like their LoZ counterparts is quelled only by my laziness

We've played a couple of Ganymede's games last Friday.
The theme (colonize Ganymede) and the art work was teasing me for a while but I had no idea how the game works.
It's a pretty streamlined game were you only have one action per turn.
It's not a resource management game per se but you still have to optimize the card you take and use.

For once, we've started the game with none of us know better than the other so no advantage given.
I won the first game but lost the second one as I triggered the end game condition too early (I had less victory point ready).

Games are fast at 2 players (20 min) but we need to try it with 3 and 4 players.

Played 1st edition a fair bit and ultimately came to the conclusion that it's a bit shit. Great production values and feel but just not that fun, very long, and too random in a bad way for me.

Eldritch Horror is a better game all around, and keeps the production values and mythos feel.

If you are talking about the card game (I don't play the boardgame), it works perfect for solo, also for 2 players. Very narrative and immersive game (if you like Lovecraft thematic). The problem, it is an LCG so you are going to get a lot of expansions, the core game it's just basiclly to learn the game, just 3 stages campaign, and very few cards to have a good deck.

I picked up the Mountains of Madness boardgame from iello as I was looking for more cooperative games (my group really liked Forbidden Desert/Sky).

Not played yet but the madness elements are really interesting, as you explore you gain madness cards. These both remove some of your abilities as a leader, but also force behaviors on you during the encounter/negotiations phase. This can be anything from only talking to people that make eye contact with you, having to refer to game elements as "things" rather than by name, etc. The twist is that you must keep your madness secret from the other players!

It's not going to be for everyone and requires some player buy-in, but could be a lot of fun.

Well I got my copy of Chronicle X yesterday, going on for a year late, I had a quick look at it last night before going out for tea honestly seems OK which isn't precisely the reaction I'm looking for when I get a new boardgame, if nothing else the models will do for the X-com varient infinity I was writting.

I recentñy saw a video of a reviewer explaining how to play the game. Basically, everyone is a jerk and try to fuck the other players as hard as they can.
Not my favourite type of game, by I'd love to play it at least once.

Depends on your group of gamers. I have some prefering coop boardgames other will be totally into some stuff like that and dont take any gaming actions personly. Others like me will play it cause its one of our favorite sci fi settings.

Its as new as the Blood Bowl release from GW, as freshly printed boxes, cards etc. are new. I couldnt get my hands on the Avalon Hill version as it was released 2 years before i was born.

    Old fart!

And speaking of old, I have a P&P version of Magic Realm all printed up and ready to be cut & mounted. I should get around to it one of these days.

Played a couple of Star Wars: Outer Rim lately and I have admit that it is quite a good game.
Several members of my playgroup (including me) thought that it's the first Star Wars game we play that really put us into the universe.
It's not only pew-pew with spaceships or stormtroopers against rebels as most SW game.
This one is about smugglers, bounty hunters, Hutts, Kessel run...
The game run well at 2 and 3 players but is definitely at its best at 4 as players' characters interactions occur more often.

I picked it up last month and agree, it's very thematic and really feels like Star Wars scum & villainy, even more so with the Mandalorian having come out!

I especially like that all the characters have their own unique bits of content such as having Chewie join Han without a test or payment is just really cool.
