So, I checked into the forum today and I noticed that N4 is on the way?

I admit I don't like the idea :( I haven't played N3 long enough yet. Now, I will have to buy another set of expensive rulebooks... and what do I do with the previous, almost unused ones?

Why can't a game just be published, with no updates that would make the expensive materials obsolete after a a year or two after purchase..?

N3 was released in 2014, so N4 will come 6 years after that. Really not that bad compared to some other rulesets.

Also, Infinity is fairly cool in how rules are released online for free. I understand you might want to have the nice books - I got them too - but it’s hard to argue they force us to purchase them.

On a final note, I have very high hopes for N4. I find the N3 rules to be incredibly messy in their presentation, and even if N4 is just a cleaner packaging, I’d be happy with it.

The rules are free -- the part of the books you paid for, the fluff, is unlikely to change drastically.

Though I admit it is a lot easier to teach new players when you have rulebook(s) in hand.

Also a lot easier to re-educate someone with when they consistently get stuff wrong.

Just can't do the same with a pdf. You only get 2 or 3 good whacks out of an ipad before it goes all spontaneous disassembly on you. Books go on for years.

Well yeah, if you're using flimsy Cupertino designed Fisher Price tablets.

There are fondleslabs more suited to re-education of the truculent though.

Yeah but with that notebooks you miss on the nostalgia like:
"And this bloodstain is from Kenny, when i gave him a lesson about TO Camo."

If you're getting bloodstains on your tools, you are applying entirely too much force when 'correcting' someone on the rules.

Maxim 25. If a manufacturer's warranty covers the damage you did, you didn't do enough damage

We just need to find a way to put clay into 3d printers and you can bring your rulebook in full mesopotamian glory.

That way it is both an actual and a metaphorical brick of words.

More like a house of words considering the lenght of the infinity rulebooks. Okay, maybe a fireplace if you want to be more realistic

Why 3d print? Give a cnc a stylus and wet slab then bake the result. 40min in the oven and you're ready to go old testament on the chronically and conveniently ignorant.

But....the rules are free? You're either uninformed (excusable, but you've probably never played n3 either then), or this is bait.

I'll skip the next rulebook pre-order cycle. You don't HAVE to buy the rulebooks, anyway.

The rules and army lists will be free anyway. The fluff I already have will work for what I have - and I don't read the fluff for the armies I don't use anyway.

Besides, it's probably going to have another model I don't have a use for anyway and it means I won't have to find someone to fob it off to.

I admit it would have to be one hell of a pre-order mini to get me to buy the fluff a second/third time (I'm an old fart, I have N1, N2, Human Sphere, Paradiso, N3, HSN3, and Uprising).

I will take them from you, and you wont need to pay me for it. :yum:

No, no Pre-Order Miini. A full metal Infinity trainer case for the Rulebooks and pre orders come with N4 studs to leave a better impression.
