So I'm just starting up and I love the idea of Invincible Army, I know it's not recommended to jump right into a sectorial but basically if they aren't wearing power armor, or at least full body armor with helmet, I'm just not interested. As the title says, I hate faces. I was planning on just picking up some Celestial Guard and using them as my Zhanshi but their box comes with all kinds of weapon loadouts that I'm never going to use, I just want like 2-3 dudes with combi rifles to use as cheerleaders. Any ideas on how to get a hold of multiple full-helmet Zhanshi stand-ins? Doesn't have to be CG, I'm just not sure what else to use.

You can send him a PM to ask if he will split a box for you. If he doesn't have a pile of Zhanying MLs, Crane Spitfires, and Pheasant Boarding Shotties sitting around he will probably be willing to split a box for you.
Find a guy with a helmet that you like, buy some silicone, buy some resin, mass produce all the heads you ever want. All my Nomad Aggies have modified Spekter helmets, as helmetless space pirates don't make sense to me.
I was going to make a new thread but since this one is of a similar subject matter I'll ask here. What is the opinion the Yu Jing community have on the new Celestial Guard/Zhanshi minis? I'm looking into buying some for conversions for merc units and thought their bodies could be a good fit. Does anyone think the models are worth a purchase design wise?
@Vedo Have you thought of buying the Zhanshi and replacing their heads with conversion bits? There are alot of conversion bit stores on the internet and the choices in heads alone is staggering. If you want I can give you links to the stores I frequent the most for parts for my models. You will be able to find a good amount of closed helmet designs from Puppetswar, Mad Robot Miniatures, Anvil Industries and the like.
Frankly, I like all of them, but some people have issues with the Zhanshi SWC box being a bit out of scale. It's mostly a shame they are too damned terrible to use in most lists. I'm more fond of Celestials because that means I don't have to paint faces (can't paint eyes and I can't seem to get a good shadow in the recesses going, either).
What do you mean by out of scale? Is there a huge difference? Are the Celestials also subject to this?
I don't recall which ones, exactly, I think it's the Sniper and the Hacker that's a tiny bit larger than the other 3 male Zhanshi. They're also slightly larger than other contemporary male models, so they break the mold where they're 210cm tall in a universe where all males are 200cm tall precisely.
That is not a problem in the slightest. It seems realistic considering how varied people's height & size are. I actually wish CB did that more often to their boxed models to create some variation with the same body sculpt. Thanks for the info. I might pick up a Celestial box soon based on what you've said. Is there any other info or opinion concerning Zhanshi/Celestials from a hobby prospective that you can expound on?
Not with the new ones, @Golem2God . I've used a lot of the older ones for various things. The most-ancient Zanshi make good Keisotsu, the older Celestial Guard made good keisotsu and zanshi snipers (that I can't use now...)
I haven't really anything to add regarding the hobby side of things, that's not my strong suit. My girlfriend has issues with my Yu Jing colour choices as it is :p (It's the sharp green highlights on the synth muscles clashing with the burnt umbra/orange of the armour that she has a problem with - and there's a lot of synth muscles as I call them in Yu Jing)
Nope. They’re 250 cm tall with 30cm wide feet in a universe where males are 185 cm tall. The sniper and hacker LI are bigger than MK4 posthumans, Sun Tze V1, Hsiens, Achilles V2, Hector, Zuyongs, Wu Mings and Cranes. They’re S5 LI.
I feel like you are pulling my leg with these statements. You got any pictures to show this difference or know of someone who can provide some?
I swear the out of focus is not intentional to hide my poor painting skills. The only thing grotesque here is the Wu Ming (and my Scrofulous Brown splashed keyboard) Edit number 23: I should note that the Hacker and Sniper have the same body while the HMG and Missile Launcher is noticeable almost exactly the same body size as the Kuang Shi on the right.
Thanks alot for this. The size doesn't look out of place in my opinion. I kind of like it to be honest. Though I'm guessing that the male Celestial Guards would be around the male Kuang Shi's size than the buffed Zhanshi correct?
