I really like the idea of Engineering Plus. Unfortunately it would go to Nomads, Dr. Worm, Sophotech. But the nice thing about it is, they can drop the WIP on some to make them great at Engineering but not fantstic at button piushing.
Well, to complete the analogy with Paramedics they should be barred from helperbots as well, if that's what you're after. Honestly, perhaps it's time to talk about this topic on a more fundamental level. I haven't seen many people who were opposed to certain things being more reliable across the board, like pushing specialist-appropriate buttons, performing classified-exclusive actions, and, additionally, repairing/healing stuff. There's also the case for making removing nasty statuses with Engineer (without restoring STR) less order-intensive to justify massive influx of EMP/sticky toys that ignore all those points units pay for their supposed toughness, and at the same time promote both properly coordinated attacks (take down big guy and his support) and properly executed support/backup plans that aren't limited to "well, bring another vector". And there's also my personal small wish - to allow troopers stand up immediately upon being healed if they wish. This is to promote currently underwhelming tactic of AROing with tough, hard to overkill (often pretty damn expesive) but usually not very potent in F2F models. Having to spend 2 orders to maybe delay opponent by 1-2 orders isn't very attractive. A small tweak for what could be a 2/3 round play seems okay to me, although opinions are welcome.
Are you saying that if a model goes unconscious and is healed by a medic it is still techincally prone? That means they need to spend an order on a move action or dodge to stand up?
Under the rules for Unconscious. Unconscious troopers automatically fall Prone unless they are a Trooper Type unable to do so.
Yup. That's why I prefer it to be something OTHER than "Engineer Lv 0" or whatever. My thoughts are more towards linkable special operatives. Think Bolts or Minutemen. These should be the folks you call when you want a bridge blown up, a dude recovered, or some forward operating station set up prior to an invasion. These guys should have a broad skillbase available to the team. Having an "engineer lite" just sort of adds to that skillbase. Also I feel engineers and doctors are restricted, but at least doctors can be generally replaced by paramedics.
Yup. Like @Space Ranger said, most units automatically fall Prone upon entering Unconscious state, but there is no clause of cancelling Prone anywhere I know unless it involves declaring movement. So if you park your Yan Huo behind a rock, then he gets hit and falls down so that enemy doesn't see him anymore, and finally you Doctor him back, you need to do something along the lines of spending an order on him to move and stand up (to see anyone approaching again) in the process.
Thanks for the clairification! I have been playing it wrong. It makes sense to me that when they are revived they would just stand up. hahaha.
I'm almost certain there's a bit of rule somewhere which state you can revive troops back on their feet, but I can't find it anymore...
Also, there is this passage for the unconscious state: Cancellation ... "Canceling the Unconscious state does not cancel the Prone state."
Oooh, I really like this idea! I don't see a problem with that. That was exactly the same mental image I had!
Another thing that I'll add to the list of "command and control" things Yu Jing can do is their ability to make hyper efficient order batteries using the Kuang Shi. It definitely seems to be their schtick.
@Sedral Going back up the post a little. I disagree with you regarding ISS having awkward synergies. I think we are the best at dealing with camo midfielders. Although antipode might sweep through the midfield better than us, which I'll grant. The key difference is what happens next. We can destroy those camo troops better than anyone else in the game. Between the visors offered by RuiShi and Lu Duan. Option of Kuang Shi(template, explode or repeater), Ninja either CC or KHD through repeater and finally the Kenran - a perfectly good gunfight who can also sweep midfield of mines. The midfield is not safe for the opponent. Antipodes may discover quicker, but Ariadana hate camo/TO. The antipodes can CC, but as soon as the enemy drops a mine, or if they have a DTW. They're done. I'm with @Knauf I think ISS are fantastic at dealing with camo and infiltrators without need for improvement
I really like this concept. Kinda like the difference between Royal Marines Commando Assault Engineers and Army Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in real life. One kicks down doors and blows holes in compound walls, while the other repairs vehicles and equipment.
