Then go ahead and purchase it anyway. Think of it as buying back-ups for the colors you already have.
That would presuppose, that I would ever need back-ups;) Those bottles last forever in my case and dont tend to dry up. Anyways...maybe I find someone who needs them or I use them for premixes.
Yeah the Vallejo paints are great, get loads in a bottle and it lasts ages, paints real smooth. It's my favourite range.
I haven't touched Vallejo in years, mostly because I couldn't get them locally. I've loved the P3 range for a while now though, how do they compare?
I would say Vallejo is more matte and it takes more layers to get coverage. I use both, but I'm using Vallejo more and more and P3 less.
I use a mix of Army Painter, Citadel and Vallejo (Basically the three brands offered by my game shop). Citadel is mostly for black, Vallejo for skin tones and the rest is army painter. I'm leaning more and more toward Vallejo though. I like the consistency of the paint. It also mix pretty well.
P3 do some really good metallics and their bright colours like yellow are better than citadel for coverage. Vallejo have an excellent range but I'm not sold on their oranges and yellows
Unless they made a new line recently, P3 make the shittiest metallics known to man. The rest of the range is great though.
I use their platinum and light silvers on all my bolt action stuff and they're great, dunno what your problem is mate
Scale 75 metals are the best I've found. Alclads look the best though, but they are a pain to work with since they are not acrylics. Requires airbrush, can't be used with brush at all, can't be painted over with acrylic, and picks up any imperfections in the surface. Very shiny though.
Probably some early pots. The second? production run of P3 metallics could actually explode while sitting in the packing case, if they weren't coming out as sludge. First run that got sent to testers was awesome, second batch was shite. Personally, I like the Vallejo Model Air metallics (and Game Air metallics). Awesome coverage.
Thats cause the Alcad colors are designed for scale modelling like planes etc. which need that perfect finish. But they are great as abase for Candy colors. Another good enemal metalic are AK Extrem Metals, i love them to use as a base for models that are going to be mostly metal (like GWs big robots). Golden Acrylics does some top metals too.
Nothing to add but this: my current paint usage is 90% Scale75, 5% Vallejo Model Color, 5% Army Painter, Game Color and Citadel. It is very hard for me to name any specific color where I‘d prefer another brand over scale75. That being said, model colors are still a nice addition to my paint collection and those sets are reasonably priced.
My bronze and a gunmetal P3 are great, my gold is so so, my silver is shit and at best works like a glaze, which admittedly is somewhat handy sometimes. All the other P3's I have I love, and the yellow's finally got me to start painting something yellow.
Does someone manage to read the list of the paints in the packs ? It's too small for me to identify them PS : new pictures with the mini :
