I recall Gutier talking about it during a seminar. Basically the reason he said it wouldn't be seen is that the primitive tech would make one too slow to be of any advantage on the battlefield. As a result of the lower speed the only way an ariadna tag would be of use would be if it had heavy FP. I would envision something like: Low Tech with 3 profiles 6-2 Mov, 12 CC, 14 BS, 14 PH, 13 WIP, 7 Arm, 4 BTS, 1 Str, Full auto L1, Manned 4-2 Mov, 11 CC, 13 BS, 13 PH, 13 WIP, 6 Arm, 2 BTS, 1 Str, Manned 4-2 Mov, 10 CC, 12 BS, 12 PH, 12 WIP, 5 Arm, 0 BTS, 1 Str, Manned Armed with Chest Mines, 2 Autocannons, 2 Light Flame Throwers Dude who pops out would basically be a Line Kazak, with a pistol. This way its different enough from the Blackjack/Ratnik. It starts out like a better Anaconda but ends up worse than one.
I can't say it isn't valid reason but It means they don't have any idea how to do it. I think that giving it unique, powerfull weapon could do the trick. Maghariba works fine and it usually doesn't move that much. That more or less what I was thinking. I would make it 4-4 mov or even 4-2. Give more armor (maybe even 9),2 str on 1st lo-tech level. And someone more scary as a pilot. It should be ariadnan elite. Availabe to every sectorial like dozer, muls and 112.
The Mormaer definitely needs a change. As others have mentioned, too costly and too limiting when compared with other units. Id like to see a CHA minelayer as well. Perhaps the SAS could get a minelayer option and/or extend a D Charges profile to them.
I think they should change the classification of Ratnik and Blackjack and have them be TAG. I just can't understand how these things could do a silent move or get prone. Make them immune to possesion because of the low tech for gameplay balance. That way you solve two problems with ariadna : - Ariadna, TAK and USAriadna would have access to a TAG for missions requiring one. - If they have STR instead of wound we at laste get a model we can usefully repair to do the test run classified objective. From a gameplay and lore perspective it would make a lot of sens for me.
Could also much improve them by making them Manned TAGs with a (Specialist) pilot. Adds just a tiny edge by allowing them to disembark another 1W trooper after going Uncoscious.
An easy fix would be to just allow anything with the “heavyweight” special rule to complete any tag specific objectives. Makes it a not completely negative attribute and could be applied in another places/factions too.
This is probably the best solution to the tag problem. Though I do think that with the way Lo-Tech works and the fact we only really have one structure unit. The Blackjack and Ratnik really should have been structure instead of wounds
I agree on the Structure part as well. Those two changes would essentially give Ariadna a “light skirmish TAG.” This would even add a unique flavor to the faction as a whole. They could even make unique ones for CHA (Sword and Board?) and MRRF (Heavy Riotstopper?).
Mines and minelayer option for the SAS (maybe sectorial exclusive), generic already has plenty of options. Full wulver core without Wallace (Maybe Cadin from Defiance?) No Wound Incapacitation for Mormaers CC Skill for Cameronians (berserk will be fine, like McMurrough) Pavel included in the sectorial. More mixed Fireteams. Give some troops the new rules like fatality, tactical awareness, counterinteligence...
All of those ideas sound great. Very non-sensical that Pavel is not in CHA already. Mormaers are such great sculpts, they deserve to be good on the table.
Why Pavel should be in CHA? Don't get me wrong I am not against changes but Pavel has no links to CHA aside that his father was from there. He was born in kazak territory, raised and trained by them.
And my Surname is from the Scottish Highlands and I love whiskey. Doesn’t mean I have any actual ties to Scotland.
He's also in active service with Spetsgruppe G, and has gone through the Scout/Spetsnaz training regime, he's firmly part of the TAK military.
LOL...was going to answer on Pavel, but you basically did it for me. His dad is Caledonian and he maintains some of the trappings, including unit logo, despite his TAK schooling. Seems to be obvious why he might be available to CHA.
Uxia received her early "training" with the Irmandinhos and smugglers before she went to the SAS. Pavel would fit in as a Special Fireteam with the Greys. Why not split time between TAK and CHA?
I mean, I'd rather ditch the missions that require a TAG for scoring. But the idea of a non-Hackable TAG is interesting to me - that's what I think the Gorgos should get, since it's made of meat rather than metal.
And Isobel was recruited for Stavka's Intel Academy, and work for Bureau Aegis, but she's not in TAK or O-12
Well yeah but she was born and trained by Scots. And Stavka isn't TAK only. All nations of Ariadna are part of it. More important question is what would Pavel even bring for CHA?
