So, was online talking about another game, and this came up:

As an Infinity player (6 years) myself, I can tell you that Ariestia, IS Infinity the Board game.
The rules, outside of the dice, are pretty much the same as far flow and feel. There a lot of little nuanced rules in Infinity, but at it's core, both are pretty much the same game.

That being said, the new edition of Infinity should be next year. maybe at GenCon...

Would you consider this accurate? Because if that's the case, I just got a LOT more interested in Infinity.

I think both games (and Defiance) share the concept that actions have an inherent amount of risk, and that failure should be planned for.

Both have situations where you expect to win an attack, but there's always the chance the defender wins instead, most interactions between pieces can have lethal consequences for either side, both also make positioning very important.

    Additional Similarities Include:

    Inter-dependence between units.
Limited time frame to achieve goals.
'Fatality' consequences (such as reduced order pool = reduced energy)
    Myriad vectors for confrontation.
    Limited force size.

I think, at an abstract level, there are similarities. But don't be mislead in thinking that the rules are the same. ;)

Meanwhile the RPG kinda make you very strong from the start so there's little risk involved. Unless you pin your players against Nemesis right off the bat.

Crucially, the RPG is by a different company and is using a version of their existing house system, so it isn't informed by the same design theories and cultures as Corvus Belli games.

Oh I know. Just saying the RPG, while very fun, is not a good intro to Infinity beside for the lore, story and style. (Also it needs some house rules, to be honest)
